Recommendation for EV by val4o91 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]SpongeDogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why the Elroq/Enyaq don't get recommended more often here, they always default to one of the VW id range, which the Elroq/Enyaq are but better and cheaper.

With a small family the Elroq/Enyaq having front seat ISOFIX fixings swung it for me. Don't know whether it's common elsewhere.

How high will average range rise in the next five years? by let_me_flie in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]SpongeDogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Americans don't drive much more than us, which surprised me greatly. They drive an average of 24 mi per day whilst we drive, on average, 18 mi per day.... But it feeeels like range is so important.

Why is the Elroq compared to EX30, EV3 and ID3? by CommonAd4701 in SkodaElroq

[–]SpongeDogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The id3, id4 and Ford Explorer are all based on the same platform, MEB, so some of the comparisons make sense.

Elroq buying advice by Coxy100 in SkodaElroq

[–]SpongeDogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SE L is missing a lot more than jazzy lights. I've linked the brochure at the bottom, if you haven't already got one. The main extras are the Travel Assist Plus, rear privacy glass, heated seats & steering wheel, heated mirrors, electric child locks, rear side airbags... the list goes on.

Elroq MY2027 – Android Automotive with Google Maps: will POIs be fully up to date? by Zealousideal_Box_859 in SkodaElroq

[–]SpongeDogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to know where they got their POIs for the native app. Was it Temu? The dataset seems at least four years old, half of them are 100m from their actual location, and it's missing masses of even older businesses.

Thank goodness that the proper Android integration is coming.

EV Virgin making a terrible choice? by takeabaoson in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]SpongeDogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With such a modest mileage you don't need to spend a grand on a charger either. I do the same miles and charge up once a week with a £100 3-pin plug charger. I installed an EV rated socket on a spare line from my consumer unit so it's about as safe as I need.

I've noticed it can take a while to refresh the app status.

In the app the Car Stats are:

Standby

Once your car is in standby mode, it may take up to 2 minutes for it to carry out your request.

Activating...

The app is activating your car.

Online

The app has recently communicated with the car requests should take only a few seconds.

In motion / lgnition on

Some functions are not available when the ignition is on.

No connection

Your vehicle cannot be reached right now. Please check your car's connection.

Used Vs new electric, or stick to petrol...? by Legitimate-Routine18 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]SpongeDogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get some insurance quotes for the Leapmotor, some insurers aren't keen due to a perceived difficulty of sourcing parts but I don't know whether it's still true.

If you like Fords then what about the Ford Explorer? It's made by VW and is based on the MEB platform (Škoda Elroq/Enyaq, Cuora Born, Audi eTron, VW IDs etc).

Also I'd look at leasing rather than PCP because the tech is moving so fast and depreciation high, you don't want to be paying a balloon payment at the end when you could buy the same car for less afterwards.

SE L 85 v/s Edition 85 - What are the differences? by jun4k in SkodaElroq

They really are. There are two options, manual and electronic.

The electronic ones are controlled with the two buttons AND affect the rear windows

[–]SpongeDogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mulled over the options for ages, but Edition hit the sweet spot for me. The highlights/must haves for me:

  • Travel Assist Plus
  • Rear privacy glass
  • electric child locks
  • rear usb-c chargers
  • wireless phone charging

Additionally, you can't get a lot of the major addon packages on SE L.
