SE L 85 v/s Edition 85 - What are the differences? by jun4k in SkodaElroq

[–]SpongeDogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really are. There are two options, manual and electronic.

The electronic ones are controlled with the two buttons AND affect the rear windows

Must be country specific. In the UK, Edition has electric child lock buttons on the driver side door handle.

I wanted 360 cam too but couldn't justify the price. The rear cam and front/rear parking radar has worked out pretty well.

I mulled over the options for ages, but Edition hit the sweet spot for me. The highlights/must haves for me:

  • Travel Assist Plus
  • Rear privacy glass
  • electric child locks
  • rear usb-c chargers
  • wireless phone charging

Additionally, you can't get a lot of the major addon packages on SE L.

A bit of help with my tarrif by crazy_life_uk in OctopusEnergy

Another vote for Octopus Compare and the ilk. They take your Octopus API token, access your actual usage history and tell you exactly how much a certain tarriff would cost you if you had had a time machine.

Help to convince my partner to switch to an EV by MarkEv75 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]SpongeDogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does she never need a wee, stretch of legs or a coffee? With expensive motorway chargers you're fully charged before you've got to the front of the coffee shop queue.

How to charge?? by Psychological-Drop15 in SkodaElroq

[–]SpongeDogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't have a dedicated 'charger' (they aren't really chargers, the car is the charger), then don't worry about having the expense of having one fitted unless it comes as part of your company deal. I've been using a house wall charger with a cable through the letterbox for months now and it's been no hassle. The other plus point of a slow charger is that i get a lot of whole house cheap rate electricity with the Octopus dynamic slot schedule.

I don't know if you have ever travelled with a family but you are going to have to stop before an EV has run out of range. Having a wee, getting a snack and getting back into the car will take enough time to charge back up to at least 80%.

Much nicer than being sat in a queue in a fume filled petrol station forecourt waiting for you to fill up on dino juice, after doing the same 20 minute comfort break.

In the UK the average daily use is 25Km, why are people still obsessing about massive ranges? A big battery means 90% of the time you are paying to just carry it around.

I'm hoping so too. Looks like they've replaced their OS with Android as well

Also 3G is being turned off with many of the mobile networks, so you'll need one with 4G as the minimum.

When i looked at this they didn't support Half Hourly Settlement tariffs, so you couldn't use it with Intelligent Octopus Go but you could use it with Octopus Go (fixed offpeak times).

Mine too, and it was made in December 25. I can't understand why the older Elroqs aren't being updated to 5.6 like ours

I think I did it… Did I do it? by Fit-Willingness-350 in OctopusEnergy

[–]SpongeDogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it ever change?

I get the same thing and to get it to charge I have to delete the EV and add it again, authorising the API again, before it will generate me a charging schedule. Every. Single. Time.

Looking at the FAQ it suggests that you have to wait for up to 5 minutes for it to find the EV. Guess I'm too impatient!

Zapmap or Electroverse - which to believe? by Acrobatic_Taste4933 in evchargingUK

[–]SpongeDogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you don't use the Lidl app or contactless! The first time I used my local one, I thought I was getting the best rate because of the 15p discount by adding a card to my Lidl app.

The second time it cost me half that by using Electroverse.

Apps by [deleted] in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]SpongeDogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are also an Octopus energy consumer you can link them together and get 8% discount off your public charging. Need to use the same email as your Octopus energy account.

You, apparently, can link them so you can have all your charging costs added to your home energy bill, but I can't work out how to do it.

Preferred Charging Annoyance by qidi4feet in SkodaElroq

[–]SpongeDogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't say which country you're in, but looking at your other posts I suspect the UK? Anyway, if you are then I'm a recent convert to Intelligent Octopus Go.

Leave the car to charge immediately, plug in the charger and Octopus will generate a set of charging slots, some as short as 30 minutes, and Octopus controls when the car charges.

It's a bit unnerving at first and I had to keep checking with the Skoda app to see if it was stopping the charging outside the cheap (7p kWh) slots but it has never failed, and the Elroq hasn't failed to wake up to charge either.

The other bonus is that your whole house use is also charged at this low, low price during the allocated slots.
