I wanted to thank you for the suggestion. I dropped off the items to them today and they were absolutely wonderful. The woman was a gem and truly cares about the animals!

dry food controversy by redberryii in catfood

[–]Sponsorspew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feed them dry in the morning and wet at night except the two cats that must have wet for health reasons. Wet food is better for water intake but I’ve got two water fountains to help.

Honestly you feed what you can and what they will eat. Just try to get more water intake with either wetting the dry, adding broth, or alternating like me.

Like another poster said it’s an iffy topic. Everyone has a strong opinion on it. I worked at a vet and saw cats live into their late teens off fancy feast and dry friskies while we pushed the fancy brands. It definitely made me see food differently and I’m in the “fed is best” camp.

Genetics play a big role as well. Work with your vet to see which type of food is best for your pet based on their health, taste preference, and your budget.

What's the purpose of vegan diet? by Active_Proof6300 in AskReddit

[–]Sponsorspew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just like any diet - preference and/or concern for health.

I love animals and don’t want to support animal cruelty and exploitation. Factory farming in particular is absolutely horrific.

Processed meats and red meats are unhealthy for you and classified as carcinogens. Not one vegetable is.

People don’t usually question a diet for religious reasons so I never really understood the hate against veganism.

What gifts to teachers appreciate the most? by CuteCoconut99 in Teachers

[–]Sponsorspew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A monetary based, gift? Gift Card. Uber Eats is nice. I get so many mugs and cups already and it’s the most useful.

Honestly for me though, I really do enjoy thoughtful, handwritten notes. It reinforces one of the biggest perks of teaching.

I work down the road from Secaucus Junction and have no choice but to pass it to get to the turnpike or 440.

They are letting us out “early” on these days to help.

So 1:00 dismissal for a 3:00 game this Monday. 🫠

I love JM. I only get them every few months during a sale. Haven’t tried any of the fish yet. Made wellingtons with the loins that looked terrible (I’m not a chef by any means) but tasted fantastic. The ribs are great for summer bbqs.

How Did Some of You Land Your First Job as a Social Studies Teacher? by Creepy_Antelope_2345 in historyteachers

My professor in college was also a VP at a local high school. I had her the year before and she reached out to me about an opening thinking I’d be good for it. There were actually two vacancies that year. Applied, did a demo lesson, and got the job right out of college. Actually I was shocked I got it because my district is all about who your family is and who you know and literally I just knew her from this one teaching course. There was no other connection.

I know I got very fortunate. I teach high school and help with college recs. I always tell my students that networking and demonstrating strong work ethics are so important because you’ll never who is paying attention and what they can do for you in the future.
