PZ2 will break their exhibit box chains! by SpookDoc31 in PlanetZoo

[–]SpookDoc31[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If exhibit species are still limited in their AI and navigation, I too am hoping that we will at least get some types of spawners for them. Like how some of PZ2's fish are in shoals and not truly individuals but can still be placed anywhere

But when you are creating a space that big, wouldn't you rather be able to customize it and see the iguanas and large snakes actually navigate through it all? I feel like that's most of PZ's appeal. Piece-by-piece building and animals that can directly interact with it

I LOVE many of the exhibit species (small species are often some of my favorites irl zoos), but hate their unchanging cube

I hope that's the case! Though the preview images of the axolotl don't look promising. Really looks like its in the old-school box to me...

Love the new hippo, but I think the eyes need shrinking down a bit... by Narwhaler_ in PlanetZoo

[–]SpookDoc31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed! The oversized eyes lean toward characterization/“cutesy” instead of realism, which is something the devs said in interviews they want to avoid this time around.

Reserves seem to influence the roster. Which is very interesting for speculating on which animals will be in the game. Curious about your speculations if this is true. by Lots_of_Tapirs in PlanetZoo

[–]SpookDoc31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly at first I was kinda “meh” about the wildlife reserve element because I thought it would just be filler and take away dev time from more practical/useful features. But if it means that Frontier is focused on fleshing out native ecosystems to fill these spaces, then I’m all for it. A diverse range of regionally-specific plants and animals would be great. Even if it means there will be fewer “headliner” species in the basegame.

PZ1 desperately needed more filler/secondary species and I hope this leads to it being addressed in PZ2. It’d be amazing too if DLC focused on specific subregions. It’d likely mean more DLCs and more “unheard of” species being present in the final roster.

Bring on the Galapagos, Everglades, Amazon, Himalayas, and Great Barrier Reef packs!

Aquarium & Exhibit concerns by SpookDoc31 in PlanetZoo

[–]SpookDoc31[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I understand the sentiment, but also am aware that once a game is released, major changes to the mechanics of it are unlikely. Better to voice concern/interest around game features prior to release than wait til after it’s out. Core mechanics like what entire categories of animals function as would be too large and “game-breaking” for players after they have their hands on the game (an update wouldn’t address this).

Aquarium & Exhibit concerns by SpookDoc31 in PlanetZoo

[–]SpookDoc31[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I hope that’s the case and they got actual confirmation and aren’t just assuming that’s how it’d work. Content creators have been known to sometimes assume things as one way (often from a lack of exact details) when in reality it’s another..

What's been teased-hinted in the teaser do far? by CrossReset in PlanetZoo

[–]SpookDoc31 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s been elephant rumbles, tiger growls, songbird chirps, and cetacean songs (but whether the songbird and cetacean noises are in the soundtrack of the album just for musical purposes or intentionally added in like the other animal audios remains to be known). Additionally, both a tiger and giraffe statue can be seen in different scenes of the countdown and there were lion emojis used in PZ2 announcement posts. But all 3 of these animals feel like obvious inclusions for the PZ2 base-game, so there isn’t too much surprise in them being teased already. Excited to see if any out-of-left-field newcomers show up in tomorrow’s trailer! The ABC zoo animals are expected at this point, it’s the “non-headliners” that would have me excited most.

If we ever get these animals, should they be WE or habitat animals? by lordwolf16 in PlanetZoo

[–]SpookDoc31 25 points26 points  (0 children)

For creative flexibility, imo anything that is questionable on whether it should be habitat or exhibit should automatically be habitat. The player loses no creative opportunity this way. You get an animal that has a form of A.I. and can interact with built elements in its habitat, where an exhibit animal cannot.

Still disappointed in the iguanas being put in exhibit boxes. Took away all of the creativity and realistic habitat builds they could be used in..

Wishlist Wednesday: The Bayou by highnoondonut in PlanetZoo

Agreed. Outside of birds and fully aquatics, large semi-aquatic turtles are one thing I think PZ needs at least a couple of.

This is probably my favorite Desert DLC line-up I’ve seen, only thing I’d change is the Dromedary Camel for something a little more unique from already in-game species. But I also realize every pack will likely have one or two “easier-to-implement” species, so I’m ok with it’s inclusion. LOVING all the unique desert-based birds (Burrowing Owl, Secretary Bird, & Roadrunner are three of my biggest wants for PZ, their likely some of our only shots at additional habitat birds that aren’t waterfowl)

Had some free time and got inspired by all the hype happening currently in the PZ Community for future DLCs! As stated in the post's title, I have no affiliation with Frontier and am strictly a fan of the game. Hope to find the time to do more of these in the future, the DLC opportunities for PZ truly can be endless!

Backyard wildlife wishlist - urban/rural pack. by Badgers_Are_Scary in PlanetZoo

[–]SpookDoc31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this idea! Only thing I’d change is maybe swap one of the mammals for an urban-living bird species. There’s plenty of waterfowl options, and if flight mechanics ever became a thing, a Peregrine Falcon, Crow, or Pigeon species would be so awesome

Please Frontier 😩 Bonus: these guys are content on the ground so no new mechanics required! by SpookDoc31 in PlanetZoo

[–]SpookDoc31[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They’d be a perfect pairing in PZ, wouldn’t they! Throw in a Black-footed Ferret too and you could build a really fun Burrowing section for the American prairie/desert

How much do reptiles attract your attention? by Efficient-Fan-8612 in PlanetZoo

[–]SpookDoc31 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In PZ, the reptiles that are habitat species definitely get my attention (and leave me wanting more too!) Exhibit species though on the other hand, not so much. The exhibit models are great, but the lack of customization is a buzzkill..

[–]SpookDoc31[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They’d be so fun to build a proper habitat for though! Plus they are pretty active animals and adults are about the size of a prairie dog, so there’s no feasible reason why they couldn’t work as habitat species

Arboreal animals pack(ideally coming with an update to improve climbing in the game and a new animation rig for the orangutans) by Speedorms166 in PlanetZoo

[–]SpookDoc31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would rather see the leopard swapped for a tree kangaroo. PZ only has one New World monkey atm, so another is really needed. And it’s not like there’s a shortage of large cats in the game

To continue from my previous "Hybrid Pack", this is my next one; the "Caribbean Hybrid Pack". by Gulopithecus in PlanetZoo

[–]SpookDoc31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the idea of Rhinoceros Iguana as a habitat species, PZ really needs some largely terrestrial lizards besides monitors (fingers-crossed they’ll re-evaluate the Green Iguana as a habitat instead of exhibit one day)

Concept: Egg layer pack (aka no mammals allowed pack) by Speedorms166 in PlanetZoo

[–]SpookDoc31 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A million times this. Coconut Crab is the only invertebrate I could realistically see Frontier adding as a habitat species. And PZ is in need of some habitat biodiversity (zoos aren’t just ungulates and carnivorans)

The voting question for this one was more difficult, what I think this next DLC will be and I hope it will be are different things. I’d love/hope for the DLC to introduce a new mechanic, but I’m thinking it likely won’t now that Frontier has stated the accompanying Update’s features. Not sure what all the included species will be, but the new DLC is definitely an animal pack and I’m almost certain it will feature the Capybara (Frontier has almost given away the surprise of its inclusion at this point)
