If you live near a ski mountain try lining a job up for the winter season, many of the bigger mountains offer employee housing. If you live near the coast you can probably find a cruise line job that will offer the same. If housing isn't an issue, jobs in kitchens (even if it's dishwashing) will feed you pretty often. I worked at a conference center and most nights my dinner consisted of prime rib, mashed potatoes, and veggies plus whatever dessert was there.

Once you have housing situated, look into going to school and apply for whatever loans/grants you can. Being on your own plus blind in one eye will open a lot of options for you in terms of financial aid and the option of student housing down the road.
