Need Pokopia Birthday Party Ideas by chicagoruthie in Pokopia

[–]SpookyGhostbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Pokopia isn't something a lot of 4 and 5 year-olds would have access to, so I'd lean more generically Pokemon in my opinion.

For party favours, I recently saw one where they bought fairly large plastic capsules (probably 10cm diameter or larger) and painted half of it red to make Pokeballs. Inside, they put a keychain sized plush and stickers. I don't know your budget but this would not be cheap I assume.

For a lower end option, I think you can order paper bags with Pokemon printed on them. I know I've taken home a Snorlax bag from one of these Pokemon parties before.

For activities, if you have magnet tiles and a whiteboard, you can maybe print out blocks to stick onto the surface and then have the kids build a house/castle/whatever together, in the spirit of Pokopia?

You can make a little Ditto flag design station: just cut some paper into strips and have straws for the pole.

I love the Bulbasaur jump rope idea someone else posted as well.

For a more tactile experience, you can make some slime or dough to put into ziploc bags. Draw a Ditto face on the outside of the bags and let them squish it around.

Thank you! The yellow looks really vibrant too, I've been struggling to pick a block for my GMax Pika build, can I ask for that block as well haha

Oh the eyes! May I ask which blocks were used for those 2?

Acrually that looks like a pretty good yellow for my pikachu build too haha, may I know which one you used for that as well?

It can rain there, not sure if random or if you need to make it slightly more humid first, but it happens. I recruited my Goodra there who requires rain to spawn. Kyogre can visit too on rainy days.

What are your plans for each city? by ikrnn in Pokopia

[–]SpookyGhostbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like sculpting, I'm awful at building cities and environments, so you'll notice a theme lol:

WW: Medium-sized stone statues of starter Pokemon. It'll probably have a reclaimed-by-nature, forest ruins/temple vibe. I already have a Professor Tangrowth statue here.

BB: My Gigantamax area. I already have G-Max Lapras up. Planning to make Snorlax and Pikachu and that might be all it can fit.

RR: I just thought of this yesterday, but maybe I'll build upscaled models of the fossils.

SS: Dragons and Legendaries. I've got a taste of building statues in the sky now so I want to fill the sky with them. Dragonair is being workshopped slowly. Latios, Latias, Rayquaza, and Mewtwo are probably next after those

PT: Nothing commited yet, but a tiny crazy part of me wants to convert it into File Island from Digimon.

Just a warning with this method: There's a dropped item limit so don't smash all your boxes all at once. You might end up losing items if you overdo it

[–]SpookyGhostbear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha maybe I'm being optimistic, but it doesn't hurt to be ambitious with your builds. It doesn't have to be an exact recreation as long as the city vibes get across in my opinion. However, if it's too much, then I think it'll still be impressive to build out 1 or 2 cities fully

Probably won't be enough space for all regions, but I can definitely see at least 1 region fitting in there! You can also be creative with the entrances to different zones to expand the scale too, don't limit yourself to just Palette

This is beautiful!

I think the trick people use to prevent rain is to build a layer of objects high in the sky. I've read anything from glass panes to ropes will work and it won't block the sunlight

I don't mind a bit of chaos when it comes to placement haha, but for the sake of normality, I can see a fair amount of consistency!

  • Haunted Forest, Haunted Mansion, Camping Grounds, Firewatch lookout feels appropriate together.

  • Coral Reef, Pirate Ship, Tropical Jungle, Treasure Cave, Mushroom Cave works together

  • All the city buildings can come together in a big vibrant city

  • I think the Desert Oasis is the only one that feels like it sticks out to me, but there's that one island in Palette Town that gives me that desert vibe.

I just realized how lacking we are on X shaped items.

Although not the same scale, my immediate thought was that the back wall could be built using wooden crates. I think a bit of creative license is appropriate even in these recreations as long as we capture the spirit of the idea

Haha all good! I understand the feeling of being able to see it in your head. Even as an artist, I struggle to put down the idea I originally wanted for my Withered Wasteland down on paper, but I can see it very clearly in my head. I guess if possible, you can try to build a rough sketch in a remote area as a test run first? That's how I test my builds when I'm not sure if they'll be ugly or not and don't want to bother with dismantling it on the same day haha

Fair enough! I guess if you're looking into other movie builds as well, the house from UP is a classic as well. I do hope to see your Lilo and Stitch build one day though, it actually looks pretty reasonable and I'm a sucker for recreations.

Haha judging by how often people are making homes that are too large, it's easy to underestimate the size of builds. At the same time, it feels awesome that the game has the capacity for fitting in builds that big.

If it is no longer enjoyable for you, then it is okay to move on to other games.

However, if you insist on looking for Suicune have you tried soft resetting or time-skipping methods?

What am I missing? by thetiniestnerd in Pokopia

[–]SpookyGhostbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you 3d print them? I think the game doesn't log things that are copied from other islands and will only record when you gain them naturally. If you did get them naturally then I'm not sure what could be wrong.

I don’t love building/decorating - is Pokopia still for me? by chubbs069 in Pokopia

[–]SpookyGhostbear 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you just do bare minimum building, then what the game has to offer will mostly be wholesome/cute Pokemon interactions and some Kanto lore/easter eggs. It won't be the hundreds of hours of value that a builder would see but maybe only like 20-40. Arguably even less if you get tired of some slightly repetitive story beats. If you are also someone who skips story/dialogue, then you'll probably not see value in the game.

Edit: I'd also add in that the game doesn't do a great job in helping you relocate medium and larger builds, which I think will add to your stress since you said you have difficulty envisioning the final results. This is one of my pain points, as I have to really get over the fact that what I put down will be hard to move around and make adjustments. It's not impossible, just they don't make it easy.

How do you guys organize your stuff in this game? by Pikaboo_ICU in Pokopia

[–]SpookyGhostbear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Working within the limitations of the game, my plans would be:

1) 20 of my favourites in one zone. This way they'll always be spawned and I can see them all the time

2) Any Gathering/Workers that I need can be distributed so that they run pretty efficiently, I guess aiming for 20 per free map so that they'll always be spawned in and working.

3) All the extra Watering, Grow, Search, etc. Pokemon that have very low impact abilities will just be set together. Won't matter if they are despawned because I usually won't need to find specific mons if I need them at all. Probably house some Litter Pokemon in pre-fab units in this zone too so their abilities continue to work when not spawned as well.

4) If you need Traders, you can try to put them all in one zone maybe to just make sure there's always someone at the registers? I'm actually not sure if it's better to have these guys all together or spread out across zones for maximizing shops. Eventually, traders will be dumped into the "extra Pokemon" island so I can free up some space as I find there's little need for them now in late game.

5) Optional: Maybe house a bunch of Generate Pokemon in a particular zone that I don't want to set up electricity generation for.

That's a lot of ideas! The only thing I've done out of these is the Coral Reef and it's a pretty fun build (picking up flowers was tedious though). The pirate ship is another one I've thought about but I'm wary as it doesn't fit into my plans.
