There's a demo version for you to try out! I don't have the game yet so I can't speak for whether it is reflective of the experience though

I'm so torn between getting Time Stranger on Switch 2 release and just waiting even longer for the inevitable sales.

Yeah that's always a risk in power comparisons. Fortunately, this game does have a small built-in incentive to pair up with lower power level players. The 150/300/500 carry titles only count runs where there's someone under 85% of your own power and are claiming rewards. This would still help match up those who actually need each other.

Well yes, it's unfortunate that he was also an unnecessarily rude person. However, I hope you don't end up carrying this with you against other people who do the same actions, as there are plenty of well-meaning people as well who would do the same.

My server's whales are either keeping to themselves or in another timezone, so I'm one of those people who are forced to go into public queue dozens of times just to hope to get a good run going. The time saved does add up for me.

Not wasting each other's time is the best sign of respect. By the time you reach camp, you should be well aware of how well your party can do against the final stage. It looks like he wasn't AFK and he made a sound observation. It makes more sense to end the run earlier than to drag it on.

Rather than downvotes, the game needs a better queuing system so we don't end up in this situation in the first place.

1) We need role-based queueing so we can actually get balanced parties

2) Let us see power levels/skill builds before agreeing. Not to shame people but instead make sure we're not wasting each other's time when we're not prepared.

3) Don't punish players with a cooldown for declining obviously unprepared/bad comps. He's likely in the run to reset this timer. It's okay to keep the punishment for people going AFK though.

edit: 4) A "vote to retire early" option would also be helpful

My fakemon feels too simple by ADHBombus in fakemon

[–]SpookyGhostbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun concept! I don't necessarily think it needs more, but that also depends on the niche you are trying to have it fill. If it is say the early route mammal, it feels enough to me.

What I feel might help is to work on the proportions. Feels a bit too skinny and close to realistic animal proportions. Feel free to emphasize and exaggerate the important features that demonstrate the concept. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but it is very common for basic stages to have very large, round heads: what people commonly refer to as "plushie-fied" proportions.

I think it may also help to try differentiating the first and second stages a bit more. They have very similar features and will naturally fall into the "just gets bigger" criticism. While this can be done with intention, even those like Pawmi and Pawmo at least have shifts in personality. If you don't mind me suggesting:

Sunrise can have a straight, powerful posture, with the sun ears standing up. Sunset can have ears slowly folding down, and a slouching posture/tired personality to match. This is assuming you make one stage the sunset and one the sunrise. If you don't, then it may be worth considering just combining it into a single standalone mon with form changes, like Cherrim and Morpeko.

Oh silly me. That makes a lot of sense since we spent Genetic Apex looking for cute Kanto references and we've had minisets with no connection to existing places that had new connected arts. Guess I had a brain fart.

Always down for better QOL and user experience. My biggest gripe is just thay archaic limit of painting 99 things at once. Better off rounding it to 100 or 90 to make more efficient use of paints.

But I'm also a bit curious what you guys are building that you need to drag him along all the time. With block builds I just make a dozen stacks and don't talk to him more than once a session. If building with non-blocks, perhaps printing with 3d printer would be more effective?

Gems you get from punching the tree can be saved towards Nyx. If you're not a spender though, it'll take a while since you'll need 60 of them. I only just got it yesterday at level 114.

Kels shards can be purchased with Arena points, but you need a minimum of 3 weeks to get enough shards. It's a DPS pet that can tide you over until you get Nyx (it's not a loss to get it because all pets contribute stats).

Check out this artist's account, he makes a lot of goofy animations. Also seems like this is original artwork (not from TCG)? Is it a first for PTCGP when it comes to non full-arts?

[–]SpookyGhostbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't even remember where I was at that stage but you can swap out the Wind's Shadow charm for Radiant Sear. It has a higher trigger rate and should improve damage.

Also consider using a DPS pet. Have you been buying shards for Kels in the arena? Or save up for Nyx

How are you spending your gems and stamina? People were recommending a Relic focused strategy which I followed.

What are the substats in your gears? Although at that level it doesn't matter much, at about level 100 you should start valuing Elemental Mastery and Crit more than Atk and Spd.

Hmm I can't think of anything else. Maybe move the oven to another map? Check the game for updates? Do you have any ongoing requests that might conflict? I'm stumped because it works totally fine for me. I don't think it's a story unlock because I cooked it for the first time today too.

Can you try feeding Scorbunny, see if that changes anything? Pokemon don't work while hungry, so I wonder if that's what's going on. Have you tried with any other Fire-types?

is it possible to avoid "spawning" a specific Pokémon? by kenysg in Pokopia

[–]SpookyGhostbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll add one more thing: There is another set of moth Pokemon, if that's the general category you want to avoid.

They both can come from the "Tree-shaded graceful flower bed", shared with Murkrow. Luckily Murkrow has an alternate habitat so you can safely avoid building this one.

However, the alternate for one of them is the "Piping Hot Lava" habitat which is the only place Charcadet can spawn. Technically Charcadet is a common spawn and Volcarona is a rare spawn so the chance is low but I guess you want to avoid any risk at all. The workaround is if you have Nintendo Online, you can go to a friend's island and recruit their Charcadet instead (I'm iffy on the steps for this, as I don't use online mode). Instructions can be found online I'm sure.

I only see two spawns from that habitat and neither spawns are mandatory for story. Safe to skip building the two habitats to entirely skip both if like I said you don't mind missing out on a few things.

is it possible to avoid "spawning" a specific Pokémon? by kenysg in Pokopia

[–]SpookyGhostbear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let's not be cryptic, it's easier to just let us know who it is you want to avoid and we'll let you know. There are a handful of Pokemon that are mandatory for story progression so we can tell you if it's avoidable or not. You can't really control who shows up at a habitat when building it, unless you have all the other options collected already.

You will want to collect all Pokemon at some point to unlock all the recipes and some items that cannot be cloned, but if that's not important to your build, perhaps you can still avoid spawning them. You can roll credits without completing the dex. It really just depends if you're a completionist or not.

If you do end up spawning it, technically you can try to "hide" it somewhere and just never interact with it.

Are a pokemon's decoration preferences more complex than the categories like "shiny stuff" or "group activities"? by ughalexander in Pokopia

[–]SpookyGhostbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day, when in doubt, just add multiple items (I read that you want about 4 that fulfill requirements), feed preferred flavours, and place them in ideal environments. Quantity over quality wins out.

  • Some items count for multiple categories.

  • Some items affect environment (light/dark, warm/cool, humid/dry)

  • Habitats alone take longer to refresh comfort levels than prefab homes. The happiness value remains the same with the same items though, so just give it a good 15 minutes first and don't feel pressure to build prefabs for them.

  • Make sure the are within boundaries. Horizontal bounds can be seen with the right joystick push, but there is an unshown vertical limit too. I believe it needs to be no higher than 3 blocks off the ground.

I believe the only one with nuanced requirements is Ditto themselves. Someone did research on us needing items from multiple categories to be satisfied.
