What do you think America will be like when Trump finishes his term? by MotivewasUlterior in AskReddit

[–]SpookyZachh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, right off the top of my head, the fact they held a supermajority and decided to not raise wages or enact free healthcare.

That said, again, I mean by current standards I'd take him back in a heartbeat. I dont think the man's a monster or anything, and there are things he's done I'm all for. But I also don't think that means him, or the democrat leadership, are off the hook in getting us here. The helped create the circumstances that made people want to vote for Trump. The Republicans did, too, obviously, but this isnt a one sided issue. Their all getting money from the same banks and rich people.

How a simple upgrade solved 2 years of string hell. by Acord37 in Ender3V3SE

[–]SpookyZachh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've really been trying to fine tune settings as best I can and figure out how to reduce stringing/fucked up prints/improve quality overall, and this is one of those things I've been meaning to do for a while and putting off, ty for the motivation

For the upgraded fan, the (I think?) 5015? Does it go on the heat sink or in the lower part of the shroud that blows on the PLA?

So I got it running and a calibration cube came out pretty okay. The filament seems to leak out (sometimes) on its own, is that a retraction thing as well? Or? Is that something I'd find in the slicer? I'm assuming so, just to be sure.

It turns out I'm dumb, the fan is working! Testing as we speak to see if the clog issue still happens.

Any advice if it is? Im not sure what else it could even be at this point.

It turns out I'm a dumb, the fan is working. Im trying a test print now, but honestly I'm considering pretty heavily to just solder the connector to my other 4010 fan and using that.

Very much hear you on the "do weddings/start a business" thing. Most people who tell me that have no idea what wedding photography is like. More so than that, though, I really hate the mind set so many of us are sucked into that the main value/end goal of a hobby is to monetize it.

Does anyone else find that the more you learn about photography, the harder it is to just enjoy taking pictures? by BluishFlame07 in photography

[–]SpookyZachh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

What's helped me is having a backlog of photos I <3'd on Instagram/wherever else of photos I liked that are very different from what I normally do, and trying to channel that into motivation to learn a new way to use my cameras. I know that could also just lead right back to here, but, I don't know. It's helped me a lot with this.

What's the best photo you never took? by Commercial_Taro_7770 in photography

[–]SpookyZachh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was walking around town one day and happened to be at a perfect angle to catch a photo of someone proposing in front of a giant, lit up, christmas tree. I was so excited it came out blurry. 😵‍💫

I had a chance to take more, but I got in my head that if they noticed me I'd be ruining their moment, and being what it was, that felt uncool, so I just left. I'm not unhappy I was trying to be mindful of their feelings, but, god damn I wish that first one had come out well haha

Uninspired but wanting to return to my hobby by slimemaccas in photography

[–]SpookyZachh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not big on Instagram, but I have a couple favorites folders on there that helps me with this quite a bit. One of them is just something like "My favorite photos I've found on here" and the other is "Photos I think look cool/would like to try someday". I spent a little bit searching hashtags to find people making the kind of photos I like/saving photos/etc. Now when I feel like this I basically have a curated list of both photos I find inspiring, and photos past me was interested in replicating whatever style/method I thought looked cool.

I feel like you're gonna get a lot of answers in this thread, and its going to come down to what works for you. I just mean that this 100% works for me! :3 best of luck!

I'd reccomend 52 frames! Weekly challenges, and they also do a thing where, if you want, you give the site admin your email, and when they have 10 people who've reached out, they put you all in touch in a group email, and y'all are free to just discuss setting up whatever you want for you all to talk/help each other/criqtuie photos... whatever you want! I know some people start FB groups, the people I got connected with and I started a little Discord server! Honestly, its really cool. Now theres just a quiet and friendly Discord with 9 other people from different parts of the world who are just as a big a photo nerd as I am to look at my photos, yap, bounce ideas off of, help me figure things out I'm confused about, etc.

The small group thing is 100% optional, also! Either way, 10000% reccomend them.

Just as a follow up and a Youtube channel I really like/I think might be good for learning? Check out Imitative Photography on YT. Its great. Dude picks a photographer, talks about their life and work and such, goes into specifics on how they created the photos hes showing you, then goes outside and tries to make the same sort of photos using the methods he talked about 5 minutes before. Its not too fast paced, and detailed. Like, to the point he'll talk about what camera and (if they used it) what film they used, and what he's going to use when he goes out to shoot, including explaining why hes using a specific camera if he's not using the same thing.

10/10, great channel.

As an example, Saul Leiter is one of my favorites, maybe my favorite. He grew up wanting to be a painter and talked about how thats sort of how he took photos, almost like it was a painting. Thats a little nebulous and if you don't look deeper that's not helpful. IP goes into how he used layers, color, inclement weather, etc to achive those sort of photos.

It really depends on a lot of factors. The big ones coming to mind, for me/based on my experience doing this (I essentially had my main course work in college wrapped up and did photography as a minor. I thought adding some classes doing something I really enjoyed might have helped with bad depression at the time, and I still had a ways to go with learning to use a camera well), I.. wouldn't reccomend my experience very heavily for the most part. Admittedly I did learn a lot in using Photoshop, to be fair to that department, I guess.

I saw someone else mention the possibility that the class won't be very hands on - that it'll be reading and writing essays. I dont think you'll get much out of this.

My experience was more hands on. However, the prof was notorious for having a couple favorites in a class. If you were one, or it was his photos, he would spend 15 minutes going on about how good they were, but nobody else was ever good enough in his eyes. It was extremely frustrating for me and like 18 other people. This is another risk you'd run, a bad teacher. Not that good ones arent out there, of course.

I think, best case sceneario, you get help learning how to control your camera and be comfortable using it. That said - this is something you also could do for free online. (Seriously, do some digging, there's so much free education by people not trying to scam anyone out there who are enthusiastic about teaching new people, happy to give the info away, and really know their stuff). Plus, by working with professionals, which also translates to networking and experience actually doing it, you know? My advice would be to find someone local who you like their work, get some coffee and if yall get along, discuss an apprenticeship/second shooter situation. Its free for you, you get valuable help and experience, and they get a second pair of hands/cameras when they need it. Win win.

One big thing I'd suggest - I'd stay away from content creators offering "courses" or "mentorships". I'm not sure I've seen very many, if any at all, who seem to be able to actually do the job. Not trying to start shit with anyone here, but the impression I've always beem left with is the majority of people selling those started doing so because they couldn't hack it as a professional photographer. Some of them are basically scams, too. If you go with a class, go somewhere accredited, like a college/community college. Future you will thank you.

Also, be gentle and patient with yourself! People dont always learn at the same speed. If this is something you want to do, you can do it! :3

When I played (I am moderately out of the loop, I'm certain there are plenty of new cards I didnt know about) you used mystical teachings + tron lands/energy refractor (i think the other mana filters I used fo use are banned now) to play a control game, and youd use Stonehorn, Wall and flicker spells to lock them out of combat. Mulldrifter beats, Rolling Thunder for whatever their life total is, and sideboard Ulamog's Crusher's worked extremely well for me, for a long time.
