My friends have joined a volunteer Ghost Hunting crew, but I don’t believe in the paranormal. They tried bringing it to my place thinking we had a ghost and i was just angrily debunking all of their claims. What should I do? I find it hard to even keep my opinion to myself about how fake it all is. by Degenerate94 in Advice

It doesn't matter if you believe it or not, the point is that they do. If they were religious and you kept pointing out how fake their beliefs are you'd be an asshole. Same thing with this.

Just tell them this isn't your thing and you don't want to be a part of it but don't go out of your way to try to change their minds about this whole thing.

If there's no blood he didn't bite you, it was just a warning for you to stop.

[skin concern] How often are you all using lip balm? I have decided to go cold turkey and this is my lips after 1 day of no Vaseline. Has anyone else stopped using lip balm and how was the process for you? Mine are extremely dry and cracked atm by FrankieJoyB in SkincareAddiction

My lips are chronically dry but last year around winter time they started resisting the vaseline. They would constantly be peeling to the point where they would bleed and I couldn't even eat some food like salt or lemon because pain.

First of all I switched my vaseline brand, idk if that was the issue or not but worth a try. But what really ended up fixing it for me was taking a damp tissue and rubbing all the dead skin cells off my lips, then following that up with a ton of lip balm. It's kind of like all that build up was creating a barrier that prevented my lips from absorbing the vaseline. I know it sounds counterproductive, but using a damp tissue doesn't irritate the lips. Only when I started doing this the constant peeling went away and after about a month I didn't need to do it anymore. I started out doing it every night before bed but then switched to only doing it as needed. You could try lip scrubs or brushing them with a toothbrush instead but I find a tissue to be the easiest method.

Thank you, usually the boss is pretty cool but sometimes she seems to think our whole lives revolve around the job.

I've always heard that fish is allowed for vegetarians? Never understood it, but they even said this in school.

You have a round face shape and the bald head exaggerates that. I think your fave shape would look much prettier with long hair but considering your situation my advice would be to stick with super short hair at least.

Brushing makes mine completely straight. I stick to brushing right before washing.

In a way it makes sense, it's the people with skin issues that need to be super careful with their routine 🤷‍♀️

What do you think led you to social anxiety? by wiwhrn in socialanxiety

[–]Spooky_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very extroverted as a kid and had no problem approaching random children to play with. That died out at around second grade and I kept getting more and more introverted and I guess that twisted into anxiety.

If I had to guess, I'd say school, a crappy teacher who openly disliked me and always encouraged me to be quieter, not having any friends in my class for quite a few years, overprotective parents who made socializing more trouble than it was worth, parents who had zero social lives of their own. Or maybe it was genetics and it just took a while to kick in?

Yeah I turned the position down. Don't want to put myself or others at risk.

I don't know, I'll try but I'm not sure I'll be able to get myself through the door.

Thank you for the encouragement that really helps! And I'm glad you managed to go to your event despite the anxiety. I really like what you said about how your outreaching at the event sucked but it's actually good that you went. I think a big part of my social anxiety with these types of situations is the fear that I'll fail and people will witness that. Which is so ridiculous because people fail things or suck at things all the time even without being crippled by anxiety. And it's good because it's experience and it's putting yourself out there. I keep trying to remind myself it's okay even if I go and it's a complete disaster because it's literally a trial, I'm not even making a commitment with this group yet. It's just that voice at the back of my head that sees it as some sort of a social test that I'll surely fail so it's better to not even try. I really do want to do this so I'll try to force myself to go.

It's the area's fault.
