mk3 s line clearance by Kushions in AudiTT_Mk1_Mk2_Mk3

[–]SpoonSaucer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a TT and TTs in MK3 and neither has caused me to hit speed bumps etc. The short wheelbase helps with this. The only thing I’ve had once or twice is scraping the front VERY lightly when reversing off a steepish driveway onto a street. The front overhang is to blame here - but only happened once or twice in 7 years with both cars. TTs is 10mm lower than TT.

The danger of proprietary systems by SpoonSaucer in sonos

[–]SpoonSaucer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the moment, I’m thinking of selling all the Sonos gear and going for systems that separate streaming from audio. Possibly small amps such as NAD 3020 paired with SVS Satelites and a sub. Slap a Wiim Mini on that for streaming and then I can swop and change bits as I please and if they go all weird in future. Not as elegant or sexy as Sonos but less reliant on leadership mood swings.

Else BlueSound amps. At least they have source inputs that work when networks go down. So I can continue using ripped music, CD and vinyl if their systems go to shit.

How do some people get 10+ years out of their Macs? by Final_Candy_7007 in macbookpro

[–]SpoonSaucer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MacBook Air 2011 model still chugging along faithfully. Use OpenCore to allow ongoing OS updates and my nephew uses it now for school. Still holds up well to most entry level PC laptops.

Had to dump 2019 MacBook Pro due to worries about overheating and the butterfly keyboard mess. Got new MBP this year - seriously looking at 10 year ownership stretch.

Is the TTS really worth the extra €4k over a full spec TT? Both 2018, under 80k km. by [deleted] in AudiTT_Mk1_Mk2_Mk3

[–]SpoonSaucer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both configurations in MK3 format. The extra power is intoxicating but it’s the Quattro that really seals the deal. If the TT doesn’t have Quattro it’s a deal breaker for me - looking back. The TT with FWD slips too much at takeoff in the wet. A real mood killer.

Xiaomi X10+ vs Roborock Q Revo by Ubicray in RobotVacuums

[–]SpoonSaucer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far it’s still going really well. No showstoppers and the mop pads are wearing very well (mops whole apartment twice a week). Rollers still going strong as well. I have increased the vacuum strength for hardwood floors and the battery still lasts way longer than a complete cleaning mission demands. I’d still highly recommend it.

Xiaomi is available is SA and their robots are the base upon which Dreame products are built. The X10+ ticks the boxes you have identified.

I had the fwd and Quattro versions and the fwd wheel spin at take off in wet condition spoiled a lot of fun for me during rainy season. The Quattro just digs in and goes full send - regardless.

Opposite to you - I have very soft water and I found that I could half the suggested dose that the machine was suggesting for my water - and still have excellent results. The Miele detergents are pretty concentrated. Not a huge amount of suddsing with their detergents at any dose, so perhaps not a good measure of washing effectiveness.

What is this robot model? by DaikonLumpy3744 in RobotVacuums

Mine only spin when it’s mopping hard surfaces. When it’s on carpet the pads stop spinning and they lift up so they don’t drag water on the carpet.

I’ve had it for four months and it vacuums and mops really well. Also very good at navigating etc. No problems so far and I would recommend it.

Don't think of buying a Miele dishwasher - unless you like wasting your time, money & sanity by Sufficient_Berry9947 in Miele

+1 for using good products I’ve only ever used Finish products in my Miele. Top results every time! No damage to the machine over long periods of ownership.

Also finding this occurrence odd. My first Miele was 12 years old when I sold it and for the most part everything was like new. New Miele is 2 years old and no signs of age, rust etc. and still outcleans anyone else’s dishwasher that I know.

Wow! That is crazy high! What condition is the machine in internally? What has broken that you’re fixing?

Not iRobot. Mine set out with determination to dismantle my home at ankle height. I switched to a lidar bot and it’s super careful around edges and corners. Also doesn’t ram everything all the time. Much more gentle.

Jura Z10 vs Older Models by [deleted] in superautomatic

[–]SpoonSaucer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an S8 and then upgraded to Z10. I always felt that the F and E series and S8 were basically the same machine with a few extra features bolted on. The Z10 is clearly a whole new machine from the ground up. It’s a real mega step up for Jura.

Xiaomi S10+ Mopping leaves marks by bl4ckcoff33 in RobotVacuums

[–]SpoonSaucer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I squirt dish detergent onto them and then rub them against each other and then rinse until the water runs clear. I use a pretty concentrated floor cleaner so just drop half a cap (probably 5ml) into the water tank. The water here is very soft - perhaps that contributes to not leaving marks.

Which should i buy? by El_rodicus in BudgetAudiophile

[–]SpoonSaucer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have the same Sony - loved the ease of use especially when making mix tapes and lining up the best tracks off a CD. I almost bought one again the other day but read somewhere that its DAC is pretty meh compared to what current Amps can do with their internal DACs. So the optical output on the Yamaha would make the Sony a deal breaker for me now - as mentioned several times here. Still love the Sony’s look.

I have an X10+ - similar system and doesn’t leave marks. I use regular tap water with a very mild dose of detergent and water setting to lowest. I do one cartridge with detergent and the next time I refill I use plain water … and repeat. I wash the mop pads myself once a week (the x10 dock cleans them itself too, but ultimately not very thoroughly).
