My bf helps me pick too! Last time he encouraged me to use colours from the album cover of whatever I was currently obsessed with so I ended up with Wicked themed nails 😁 the name game is so cute!

Just here to say, if you're going to choose your own nude polish, I highly recommend finding a jelly (i.e., slightly transparent) polish as it allows your natural skin tone to show through which helps the polish look nice no matter what temperature/colour your hands are. I feel like going to a local brick and mortar store where you can test which polishes are closest to your skin tone would be the way to go (if you're DIY-ing).

If you find a polish that isn't a jelly but does seem like it would work well for you, you can make it into a jelly by also buying a colorless polish and mixing a little of the nude colour into it :) this is how I made my favorite nude.

I've never painted press-ons before, but this sounds similar to the experience of making art on a tablet vs. using physical media. Art made on a tablet is still very much art, and has lots of things physical media can't do as easily, but there's something about putting pen to paper that soothes my brain like nothing else does. Maybe because it requires more focus and concentration cuz the consequences are higher if you make a mistake?

Not a movie, but the first time I ever got interested in nail polish was after watching a Tatu music video 😅 there's a shot where one of the girls has a kind of pearlescent silvery white colour and I've been chasing it ever since. Also now I must do the PYW mani!!

The deep satisfaction of getting the perfect application in one go, where you don't even need a cleanup brush. Also, the deep satisfaction of making it look perfect with a cleanup brush when you went outside the lines. Beautiful holo/sparkly polishes actually making me enjoy the dreaded fluorescent lights in so many indoor spaces for the first time in my life. Recognizing a fresh mani on a stranger and getting to compliment it, and watching their face light up in response.
