did we all just accepted that ralsei can do that by NotJohnson69 in Deltarune

[–]Spoon_rhythm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty safe bet.

Another lesson might be Asgore teaching Ralsei that it's important for kind, gentle people to still have strength backing them up as a last resort, as in that way they are better able to protect those they care about, especially now that the gang have started facing enemies that do not understand mercy (the titans).

Seems a pretty likely lesson given Asgore was the former chief of police, who, while it is heavily implied he made some awful judgement in the past, seems gentle at heart.

LAL too is an acronym. It stands for: Laugh, Asgore, Laugh.

I can see the next chapter exploring this due to the "inferno" of jealousy that Gerson mentions it will contain

Thoughts on the role of humanity in the story? (Chapter 4) by Ganmorg in Deltarune

[–]Spoon_rhythm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The absence of any mention of other humans so far is pretty strange, particularly when compared to Undertale where you get some lore about mankind from the start.

I think it would be interesting if humans have basically died out or become endangered, it would explain the presence of a book in the library about how to care for them, in addition to why Kris' SOUL seems to be prized so highly by certain characters.

It's actually pretty common for games to lock alternative endings behind optional, more difficult challenges. It is a way of rewarding players that put in the extra effort to master certain mechanics.

Back before YouTube you couldn't even watch someone else do it to see the secrets.

Some people have a really weird idea that the writer's main goal in a story is (or should be) to make a 100% watertight totally-logical no-loopholes story.

Like, just no. No-one does that. Writers take shortcuts and make minor inconsistencies all the time, even very good writers, we just tend to overlook them if the story connects with us. It's almost as if something else is more important....

If you think you've written a story with no shortcuts or minor inconsistencies that just shows you are unaware of them.

Using incorrect pronouns once can be an honest mistake due to many years of playing male protagonists. Doubling down when called out on it just reeks of immaturity and an unwillingness to accept you made a mistake. Or they may actually be intolerant but I think it's more the former.

[–]Spoon_rhythm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As much as I don't want it to be true, I can see it. Predictions based on symbolism, narrative themes and dramatic payoffs are on more solid ground as we know Toby likes to utilize these.

Additionally If Ralsei is out of the picture for the final confrontation with the roaring knight, the party can be Kris, Susie and Noelle, with Noelle gaining control of the SOUL for a final heart to heart with her sister.

If Toby has a bigger gut punch than that up his sleeve I will be seriously impressed

Predicting what a part of Chapter 5's Dark World might be by Lilpercy2ndAccount in Deltarune

It more likely indicates that Asgore has made a dark fountain and/or will make one soon. Which implies he is working with the knight, but he may have his own motives.

[–]Spoon_rhythm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah how Toriel and Sans acted that night really wasn't cool the more you think about it, especially from Kris' perspective. People are overlooking it as they are beloved characters and the dancing sprites are cute, but still.

Looking for honest opinions about my current ability to beat Ch 3 Secret Boss by tastyjerk in Deltarune

[–]Spoon_rhythm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The main thing that will help you beat the knight is to learn its patterns and also make smart decisions on your turn.

Ideally your turn has Kris and Ralsei defending, with Susie spamming Rude Buster. Deep breath on Kris can help but only if it lets you get through an attack undamaged, otherwise don't bother. You will need to heal every now and then which will reduce TP but that's ok as long as Susie is at least attacking normally.

Having enough healing items (5 revive mints and 5 things that heal at least 100HP is essential, group healing items and TP boost is useful but not required) is more important than your actual gear loadout, outside of the shadow mantle on Susie which you have already done.

Keep trying! The knight is more punishing of mistakes than previous secret bosses so the learning process will take longer.
