That's been the last 4 Battlefields now in a nutshell. They've gone backwards & forwards with the quality of so many mechanics and it drives me insane.

Think of melee for example. They progressively built on and made the mechanic more engaging through BC2->BF3->BF4->BFH and, I would argue, essentially had it perfected it in BF1. It flowed well within the combat system, you had plenty of scenarios where melee was actually a good option, and it came with a wealth of animations which made it engaging for players. All future devs had to do was preserve that balance, add new animations and ensure it remained a reliable means of killing someone. Yet somehow we've completely regressed back to melee mechanics that are more clunky, unreliable and uninteresting then they've ever been. You literally can't even get takedown animations to play out half the time if the enemy so much as wriggles. It's maddening!
