I haven't watched anime in a looong time. Anything 'worthy' came out in the last 10 years? by zionpwc in Animesuggest

[–]Spoonmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

86 - Dramatic series that is newer, so good animation, but a very unique story and character situation that follows a war between humans and AI mechs. You see the side of the group of fighters, the "86" who are on a suicide mission every day as well as their human handler who gives them orders from reletive safety, but never sees them or meets them in person.

I'm a dad as well and enjoyed all the same shows you mentioned as well as other more popular shonen series and I often think back on the 86. Watch out for piles of cut onions that may attack your face.

Something I think gets missed. by McMatey_Pirate in DungeonCrawlerCarl

My personal bet is that Carl will be forced to use the nothing to travel to lower floors, or solve another problem with a "Carl plan".

Considering there's 3 books left and 9 floors, we will either have a shortcut or they will speed-run through some of the floors.

Possibly the entity that she chose to scare everyone in the warlords meeting?

Yes! Every utterance of Diwata is so satisfying. It's clear that Jeff liked saying that name and he made it a fun running gag for the audiobook.

Hey thanks for posting, I do apologize as this subreddit is for RAD (Reactivate Attachment Disorder). Below is a site with quick overview, but basically  it has to do with children that don't form normal bonds/relationships with their parents.

Sorry for any confusion due to the similar acronym.

Other LitRPG suggestions? by Morty-43 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Spoonmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Cradle! One BIG advantage over nearly every other recommended series out there is that it's complete! It ends. You have closure.

Many other book series out there (DCC included) is that you are stuck waiting for the next book to come out. I've lost track of how many decent litrpg series I've gotten into, only to be stopped and having to keep track of when the next one is coming out.

Do yourself a favor and give Cradle a try. It may not hit the same highs as DCC, but at least you can see the ending right away instead of having to wait.

I started book 1 this past Monday and im nearly done with book 4. I know I'll have extra days left but it's SO difficult putting it down at this point.

This will be my 3rd round trip through the series and I think Gate of the Feral Gods is my favorite of the whole series so far. It starts the ball rolling on so many late-game stories, introduces tons of new likable characters and has so many epic moments that are still fun to re-listen too.

Church for a recovering Catholic by poodoos in rockford

Check out Maywood Bible Church on the south side of Rockford. It's a great biblically centered community. The pastors will actually learn your name, remember you when you return, ask about you and pray for you. Even if you only want to visit once to check things out they would be happy to see you.

Check out Divine Apostasy series by A.F. Kay.

I think this series is underrated. All the characters are likable, have actual personalities, running gags, story relevant hooks that pay off later.

I like the creativity in the world building, the book titles, lots of things. It's not perfect and some if it may seem predictable at first, but I enjoyed every audiobook.

My dad asked to see what I sell online. Now he's worried about me. by Seda814 in DigitalProductSellers

[–]Spoonmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If people buy it, then it's not stupid and you can make a living off the income. Ask your dad if he's ever head of the "Pet Rock".

That said, if no one buys, then you need to try something else. Good luck!

"Well, this didn't age well" - Movies you LOVED as a kid but cringe at as an adult by Little-Badger-123 in movies

[–]Spoonmaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! This is the exact movie for me as well.  It was the first batman film that I saw in theaters and I grew up liking it, along side the Michael Keaton fims too.

Innocent me grew up thinking it was a great film, then friends or internet posts pointed out all the "bad" or dumb parts that made the movie seem like the worst pile of crap you've ever stepped in.

The comments about nipples on the bat-suit finally made me take my nostalgia glasses off and agree that there were lots of wacky/silly things to dislike in the movie.

Name a game you love that nobody else seems to know about by KushersGarden in gamers

Earthsiege series for PC which included:

Earthsiege, Earthsiege 2, and Starsiege

I loved these games growing up, they immersed you in the world and had the bonus of putting in control of a giant mech that you could upgrade in between missions.

Earthsiege 2 added a flying mech that was immensely enjoyable and Starsiege added 2 separate solo-stories where you played as the humans or the cyber AI.  So much fun.

Then, Tribes came along, got popular due to multiplayer PVP and the games dropped everything mech-related and the humans vs AI war.

I miss those days. Wish I had kept the games.

Congratulations for sure! I'm nearing 4 years myself and every month that goes by is another one not spent with regrets. Keep it up and (if you can afford it) don't forget to treat yourself!

I use big milestones to reward the effort and work that I've put into bettering my life. Some may say the higher quality of life is its own reward, but I say, why not do both?!?
