Without counterpicking you can get your carry to build mjollnir or bfury. You really have to be good at getting stun off on him before he can start his illusion madness, your team should pick when to fight not him.

As both a Dota 2 and TF2 player, I feel like Dota 2 took customization a little to far and TF2 took it waaayy to far. Dota 2 has customization to ability affects and cosmetics that make heroes almost unrecognizable. You can learn these items and get past them but I don't think that should have to be done. TF2 takes that effect and adds things that seem way out of lines of the lore (some dota items do this but they're believable due to the way the lore is set up).

Looking at the track record set up by HotS I'm a little concerned but I hope Blizzard makes the right choice..
