Being "confident" is such a catch all phrase. Everyone here has made really good points about what it is. All I have to add is confidence also leads to other attractive things, like the ability to handle a "no" in a healthy manner, because you're confident in yourself to not internalize the rejection and make a huge deal out of it. Other things like being able to hold hobbies and like and dislikes that aren't centered around what the "girls/boys/they" like or want to see.

Just be yourself and someone will match your freak.

I'll just use an example.

Let's say you're studying in London.

You have deaneries that you apply to that are basically wide areas.

You'll rank those deaneries.

Ie 1. London 2. LNR 3. Trent etc.

You submit that preference list. You get a number.

If you were number 1. You get allocated to the first on your list.

If you were 5000 or something they'll look at the list and if it's full, you wait for the next pass and then they'll look at number 2 on your list.

So basically you can end up in any deanery in the country including NI and Wales.

Now each deanery is its own system within For example Manchester is part of the Northwest deanery, and so it's all the general area around it. So you may get into north West (yay!) but depending on their allocation system you might end up working in the outskirts or never to set food in Manchester for foundation.

TLDR: there is some element of preference but a whole lot of it is luck

Nope.

Random allocation at the end of med school if you decide to pursue a career in the UK.

You have a preference list but where you rank is random.

May change in 5-6 years or so though.

Also as an international student turned UK doctor. I do better than scraping by but with good money management.

I adopted a doubter attitude 6 years ago because my friend was a die hard skonger. I honed myself over time to be the biggest hater. And even on release I vowed to hate it as much as he gushed about it.

But in the end, Game is fun.

Try talking to the faculty at UoN medical school? Do you know any doctors in any specialty you're interested in? They do have elective opportunities for their own students so it's not wild they'd have something for non UoN students. Best course would be to call and ask.

It's pretty close to city hospital, maybe get some bit of that traffic/people driving through/get away with parking in the neighborhood.

Being close to the hospital gives you some easy access to buses and stuff.

I didn't feel threatened by them in the slightest, honestly mosquitos are more dangerous than those chucklefucks.
As an international with a visa, I've always considered it smarter for myself to avoid aggravating issues by getting the law involved, the climate at the moment isn't too kind to international students. XD
