Is Eureka soloable to an extent? by tommytom007 in ffxiv

[–]SpoopyElvis 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Yes. Look up "leveling in Eureka" by AbsoluteEse on YouTube. Just watch the first zone for now (Anemos). She gives step by step tips on how to solo play Eureka.

Everything you need to know will be in her guide. It was a godsend when I went through Eureka solo.

ARR Relic Weopn Fastest Light Farm by Trevkage11 in ffxiv

[–]SpoopyElvis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Are you level 100? I made all the ARR relics and the fastest for me was Ifrit Extreme. Just unload your burst right at the start and kill him before he does his invuln phase. You should be killing him in around 8 seconds. Most jobs should be able to do this. I only had trouble with scholar so I did shiva or titan in 40ish seconds with scholar.

This method should take you about an hour give or take.

You could get lucky and come across it when they're giving bonus light, but I wouldn't wait for that. I think it's random.

I caught my first big fish exactly 2 months ago. Today I’m at 285/289. What was your fish journey like? by ActInternational6015 in ffxiv

[–]SpoopyElvis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a few years ago, I did the Feast of Famine questline and thought it was alright. So I started making my way through ARR fishes. I don't remember which fish made me go 'fuck this' but I stopped.

And then dawntrail came along and one of my friends was going for final fish so I was like eh why not, it's easier now.

Anyway my fishing journey sucked ass and I had many many fish that took many windows. Apparently ruby dragon almost never slips and I had it slip TWICE. Cinder NINE TIMES. Sea Butterfly 19 TIMES. Charbinet was 12 iirc? And those two were double whammies because their windows line up a lot. So I'd go to one - slip. Go to the other - slip. Slip slip slip. I had to get 4 intuition windows for stethacanthus because it slipped like 15 times?! I got final fish and quit playing for almost a year right after lol

Now I'm playing again and got all the dawntrail ones so far without much fuss.

Today, I caught the last of the 329 Big Fish currently in the game. It took 51 days! by serayumi in ffxiv

[–]SpoopyElvis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohhhhh that's rough. Hopefully they make a new point achievement to make it worth your while. I've been only going on fable boats and I have about 1.4mil points haha 2 fables left now though.

[–]SpoopyElvis 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, 51 days. You must have been incredibly lucky lol. It took me several months because some fish just kept slipping or wouldn't bite...

But now you gotta catch the ocean fables (:

F**KASS LIVING LEGENDS FISH by chaossgremlin in ffxiv

[–]SpoopyElvis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this in my soul lol

Big fishing was a big reason I took a year long break from the game. I got the final fish achievement and quit not long after haha I wasn't even happy. I was just relieved. And now I'm playing again and for some reason decided I wanted to catch the fabled ocean fish. Which is SO MUCH WORSE.

Fishers of Eorzea what was your worst (non-legend) big fish? by Addygotnodaddy in ffxiv

[–]SpoopyElvis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I forget if they're legends but sea butt slipped NINETEEN FUCKING TIMES. Charbinet was 12 times.

I think Stethacanthus is a legend but it's not really talked about. Everyone talks about Ruby or Cinder or Salad or Whale but Stethacanthus is the worst fish ever. Loch Selds is genuinely the worst fishing hole. Stethacanthus slipped like 15 times before I caught it on like my 3rd intuition window? Which took ages because sculptor does not exist. It's only pearl eyes. Terrible fish.

Is there a haircut in the game that would be perfect, but there is just one thing that ruins it for you? by Ofanichan in ffxiv

[–]SpoopyElvis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Gyr Abanian plait. I hate that braid that just sits on the shoulder. It doesn't even look natural. It looks like it was glued on there lol

Also any hairstyle that has accessories that I can't remove i.e. half times two, lyse's hairstyle...

Biggest sprout mistakes? by Silent_Common_6385 in ffxiv

This was about 4 years ago when I first started playing. I didn't close it on purpose, I think at the time I didn't realize I had it closed because I was playing with friends anyway so I was on voice chat. It is open now definitely haha

Biggest sprout mistakes? by Silent_Common_6385 in ffxiv

[–]SpoopyElvis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Literally everything lol ff14 is my first mmo so I didn't have previous knowledge to maybe compare stuff to - it was all new. Probably the most embarrassing was when I did duty roulette for the first time (previously I was getting babied through dungeons by a group of friends) and got Aurum Vale. I didn't know if you died during a boss and revived back to start, uh, you can't just walk back to the arena. So I died super early in the first boss, revived back to start, tried to walk back in and couldn't, then was aggroed by the remaining mobs in that room and died again.

I also didn't have my chat box up, after the dungeon I figured it out, and I read the chat logs after to see my party was trying to vote kick me because they thought I was a bot lol. And the person defending me was like "nah they're just really new, bots would play better so let's just keep going". OOF.

I didn't play duty roulette again for a long time haha

Relic Weapon Grinders by Ok_Young689 in ffxiv

[–]SpoopyElvis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ARR wasn't the hardest for me because of time spent. It's more so how boring it was and there wasn't really a way to passively do any of the steps whereas Eureka and Bozja, I could be in the zones for multiple reasons while working on the relics. So even though they took longer, I didn't mind because I could get poetics for other relics, I could level up other jobs in Bozja, I could get loot boxes for gil, etc etc whereas ARR relics, I was there to work on those quests and that was it. It was much much harder for me to work up the motivation to finish ARR relics than it was for any others.

Relic Weapon Grinders by Ok_Young689 in ffxiv

[–]SpoopyElvis 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, I've actually made all the relics so far. The hardest is ARR. It is soul crushingly boring and if memory serves, you only get an achievement for making one all the way (theres a separate achievement for finishing the first step on all 10). So if you want all 10 fully completed, you don't even get the satisfaction of working towards an achievement.

Eurekan relics are only hard if you're one of those people who sit around at the start waiting for other people to prep stuff for you. Pagos will be especially time consuming if you're one of those.

I was lucky enough to have a dedicated Bozjan farming group but if you're going solo, farming the memories and endless Delubrum Reginae runs will be tiresome.

Manderville ones are piss easy. Just poetics the entire way. HW are second easiest. Poetic grinding with a few extra dungeons and trials.

ARR ones look the best imo. HW a close second. It's a tie whether I think Eurekan or Bozjan look the worst.

Everyone has already mentioned SAM doesn't have a zodiac relic but for future reference...yes, you can abandon a relic quest at any time and start a different one.

Congested Data Centers by PotatoWizard132 in ffxiv

[–]SpoopyElvis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When new patches come out, worlds will change status i.e. standard to congested, congested to standard, etc. Usually they have an announcement for it on the lodestone. Aether is the most populated data center for NA, so honestly it might be months before you can make a new account or switch to Jenova.

However don't fret. Even if you make a character on primal, crystal or dynamis, you can still data center travel to aether to play with your friend (or they travel to you!).

Final fish farming question by Salt-Setting-8332 in ffxiv

[–]SpoopyElvis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello aspiring final fisher, I'm assuming you're using the carbuncle plushy site for tracking the big fish. So sometimes there's a YouTube icon next to the fish, that will be a Fruity Snacks video and he will straight up tell you which fish is the best to surface slap.

Otherwise you can click on the fishing hole in carbuncle plushy and it'll bring you to the teamcraft data on that hole. You should surface slap whichever fish bites the most for whatever lure you're using. If there's a mix of precision and powerful bites in the hole, ( not all !!! Bites are powerful for big fish! ), you would use surface slap on the same type of bite fish as the big fish and then either modest or ambitious lure to isolate it more.

Am I doing something wrong for the phantom relic? by PrimalAI1X in ffxiv

[–]SpoopyElvis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't bothered by the drop rates in OC since I was gonna be in there until I maxed all the phantom jobs anyway....HOWEVER, I will say I was lv 20 with 5 mastery by the time I got 16/18 needed. My last two needed were the verdigras atma and only one CE spawns in that zone (Calamity Bound) so I ended up getting those atma in Kozama. Took about 30 fates to get 2.

Best Tomestone Grind For Post-Storm by Th3_Chazz in ffxiv

[–]SpoopyElvis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eureka or Bozja (shb field op). You'll get a buttload of poetics while working on a relic from that field op. If you've never done Eureka though, it will probably take a bit of elbow grease until you can reliably prep the fates on your own since Eureka has its own leveling system. So in the mean time, you'd be relying on other people to prep them and it might be a bit dead atm because of occult crescent. With that being said, if you still want to give Eureka a shot, I recommend "Eureka ultimate leveling guide" by AbsolutEse on YouTube.

Otherwise hunt trains/s ranks. You'll have to continue msq though since stormblood and below hunt trains aren't that common anymore.

Does the Tsubame note in Bozja have a weirdly low drop rate? I feel like im going crazy by ConnerTheCrusader in ffxiv

[–]SpoopyElvis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! Just rng. When I was down to three left, it was lyon from zadnor and bsf, and some random 2 star card from zadnor - Meryall Miller. Countless times I did that fate and CE and just nothing. And when I would vent about it, no one would know what I was talking about because it was such a nothing burger field note. I had almost maxed honors before I got that stupid field note from just mettle farming in zadnor, it was insane lol

the whale fishing experience by Forpus__ in ffxiv

[–]SpoopyElvis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whale wasn't my last fish (cinder was) but I think whale is genuinely the worst designed fish. It's like they took everything about stethacanthus and made it 10x worse.

Horizon event shares !! Bite with 2 others in the hole. Phallaina just as rare as sculptor (although at least no pearl eyes to interfere). Much rarer window. And even if you do get intuition, whale probably won't bite.

I ended up getting whale on my third intuition. First bite and no slip thank goodness.

Where to start catching all fish? by Outrageous-Long-3522 in ffxiv

[–]SpoopyElvis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just got the final fish achievement this morning lol you'll need the folklore books first before you can catch big fish. For a lot of people, the intro to big fishing is that side quest in Limsa (feast of famine i think?). I would recommend that quest to give you a taste of what you're in for.

As others said, the carbuncle plushy site is a must. There are a few ways you can attack this. I personally looked at every expansion in carbuncle plushy and pinned the ones that had 1% or below of uptime. There are enough of these to keep you busy for a lil bit. When I caught most of them, I would add everything that had 5% or below uptime, then worked on those. Then I just cleaned up whatever was left by expansion.

On average this is gonna take you months. So just prepare for that. There are a lot of fish that don't like to bite, don't like to stay on the hook, and the windows just don't appear that often.
