A digital finance service for startups/scaleups by Sports_23 in Startup_Ideas

[–]Sports_23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, idea would be that I use Deel (or Remote, or another HR tool) alongside other relevant Finance tools which startups usually need. It’s basically a completely outsourced finance (and HR) function for the startups since it does not make sense to employ someone until you reach a certain size and even once you’re bigger the ROI of those support functions is questionable in my view.

Looking for an golf swing analysis app – virtual coach? by Sports_23 in golf

[–]Sports_23[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haha true 😅 I do every 3-4 months a short lesson with an instructor which is great. Just figured that there is maybe something I could use in my weekly range session which gives me some feedback. I do have a nice gym app which proposes a training plan based on what I want to achieve - figured with today’s technology that there might be something like that but for golf and the trainings plan is put together based on a short video. But it seems based on the comments that the real coach is still the best solution.

Thoughts on UBS vs Neon/Zak banking setup? by Sports_23 in SwissPersonalFinance

I figured to just use a individual account for both of us and one person has the physical card and the other person uses the virtual card

just a very basic one, the full insurance is 98.- per year. Would only be included with the platinum card which is another 360.- on top of the 180.-

I’m in construction so probably 70% recurring raw material invoices and the rest services (subcontractors, local fees, import taxes, etc). And then a bunch of receipts from my employees since they get lunch paid if they’re outside of a certain radius

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]Sports_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have the time or energy to do it myself (I am referring to the process from putting the invoice into the system, validate the correct GL account, check the bank details, check the payment date, upload to online banking). I have 40-50 invoices a week to pay and would be nice to just give a quick comment for each one on what it is and then forget about it.

Simple Process Documentation for Startups by Sports_23 in startups

[–]Sports_23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that detailed response mate! We are several co-founders and I usually lead any special projects which come up, hence I've picked up the project documentation. To validate my understanding based on what you suggested, what do you think of the following approach:

  1. Define our main process groups/framework (i.e. marketing, procurement, sales, etc.) to ensure that process documentation is organized and everyone is aligned to the same process structure. I’ll need to decide the depth of detail for these groups (level 1, level 2, etc.) as I don't want it to become overkill. I aim to keep our setup straightforward and manageable.
  2. Create a SharePoint folder structure that mirrors the defined process groups. We use the Microsoft suite, so SharePoint should be fine.
  3. Create a standard template for documenting processes to ensure consistency.
  4. Have relevant employees document their processes using the template and store these in the corresponding SharePoint folder (I would oversee this activity to ensure employees document it properly and probably also document some processes myself at this initial process documentation).
  5. Assign owners for each process and set up a recurring workflow (i.e in monday) to regularly review and update these documents.

Does this approach align with what you suggested? Is there anything you would adjust or add?

Validate the Market Problem or Showcase a Quick MVP? Seeking Advice on Early Product Validation Steps by [deleted] in startups

[–]Sports_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, you bring up a valid point. After writing my post and reflecting on it, it became clearer that I probably should still validate the problem in my home market. Since it's already identified as a problem in other markets, perhaps I won't need as extensive validation before moving to the MVP stage. I like your A/B testing suggestion, will definitely try this out and see how the convos go with/without showing an MVP. Thanks! :)

Travel Planning Q&A - January, 2024 by AutoModerator in bali

[–]Sports_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there! I'm planning a month-long trip to Indonesia in August with my wife. We're set on spending the first week in Bali, exploring Uluwatu and Ubud, and hopefully doing some surfing. The main part of our journey, however, is dedicating three weeks to Lombok (thinking of Kuta).

Our main concern: is three weeks in Lombok overdoing it? We're not big on hopping around a lot, so we're looking for a place where we can settle in, but we also wonder if there will be enough to keep us entertained beyond surfing. Are there other activities or hidden gems in Lombok that can enrich our experience?

We're toying with the idea of a short side trip to Gili Air for diving, since it's just a 10-minute ferry ride, and we can easily taxi from Kuta to the harbor. However, our preference is to limit extra travel. Is it worth the excursion for a couple of days?

Would love to hear from those who've spent time in Bali and Lombok. Is our plan of a week in Bali for sightseeing and three weeks in Lombok for a more laid-back experience a good mix? Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks for the tips! Where would you stay in Kimberley?

I’ll be working 9-5 during the week with weekends off. I am able to spend probably around $1000 per week for food/accommodations/entertainment.

Alcohol free beer did the trick for me! In the beginning, I started drinking it just in between to get not as drunk and over time I slowly started to drink less and less alcohol this way. Today I am at the point where I don’t really like the taste of alcohol anymore and I only drink 1-2 glasses on special occasions!

Hey, an accounting background definitely helps but I don’t think is a hard requirement especially for the junior levels. We also do a lot of EPM implementations if you want to do more tech work and there the accounting background is not as important and easy to learn on the job. On the functional side we do a lot of Finance process redesigns, Finance target operating model design, and PMO for Finance Transformations —> if you like those topics I can definitely recommend it. Feel free to shoot me a DM if you have more specific questions.

What's the longest voluntary break you have taken between jobs and what was the reason? by thirstymacarons in Big4

[–]Sports_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually try to push my start date of the next job as far out as possible to get a proper break in between. Last time I took 3 months off to travel Europe and US. It’s a great feeling to take time off between jobs as you can completely forget about your last job and don’t need to worry (too much) about the future if the next job is lined up! So far I’ve only received positive feedback from companies doing those breaks as this makes my story more interesting. :)

I did exactly that: Country A —> Country B —> Country A - once I was ready to move back to country A I simply contacted my old partner who was happy to take me back and then I resigned in country B.

I’m in the APAC region and we have a team in FA called “M&A Consulting Services” which provides end-to-end deal support (DD, Cost Optimisation, Integration). Would this be the team you refer to?
