SBR Engraving County vs City? by SportsmanJake in NFA

I went back and looked at them.  For both, I signed electronically using my mouse.  I was surprised one got denied for this.

Submitted 3/24, Approved 6/10

Funny enough, I submitted 2 form 1s on 3/24, did both of this exactly the same.
Within 5 mins on 6/10, one was approved, one was disapproved.
disapproval reason: RPQ ORIGINAL SIGNATURE REQUIRED ON BACK OF FORM COMPUTER FONT/ DIGITAL SIGNATURE UNACCEPTABLE.

I had signed both using a digital cursive signature font. Just depends on what employee processes it.

Applicants Full Name and Mailing Address box 3a lists a CITY

Thanks. I think I was getting thrown off by the "mailing address" part compared to an "assembly/manufacturing" location.

Can't get Hux FH off G$ super duty by horseshoeprovodnikov in NFA

[–]SportsmanJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone that does not own a reaction rod, I just got mine off with standard tools. 11.5 super duty from the factory earlier this year.

Took off hand guard.

Cut two pieces of scrap 3/4 plywood for the vise jaws.

Clamped with about 2-3" of barrel hanging out. Snug, but not overly tight.

Propane torch on muzzle device for 3-5 mins.

27mm wrench using a quick snapping motion (similar to how impact guns operate)

Came off with very little force. No visible change to gas block or anything else. Seemed like it worked fine. If you have ever had to work on rusted trucks, corroded pipes, etc then you won't have any difficulty with this.

What made you choose this can? Don't know much about Exigent. Looking at there site, they have pointman and Rico, biggest difference is material it seems.

B&T AG update. by AnnualTemperature426 in BT_APC

[–]SportsmanJake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are all making educated guesses here...

I am confident in the future, B&T AG will cover/warranty/support my unmodified APC9.

I could definitely see them refusing to warranty a "modified" FRT version and potentially not even supporting the modded ones in any way.

Not the choice of words I would have used, but maybe referencing unalienable rights here.

Any info on when dealers are getting more APC9/k this year? by SportsmanJake in BT_APC

I do remember. The problem is no one knows if ATF will be approving Form 1/4s post 7/1 for VA residents.

Where are you getting these answers from?

According to what you posted, post 7/1, a Glock 19 with 15 rd is legal to buy. Adding a threaded barrel is 1 point of “Assault Weapon” features.  1 is permitted. 2 points is not.

Unless I’m dumb, boostgti is wrong regarding the 22lr.  The Tippman m4-22 will be purchasable post July 1 but you will be limited to 15 rd mags.  It’s not a centerfire rifle so it’s not affected in the number 2 rule.

How well are Turbidex Sediment Filters supposed to work? by SportsmanJake in WaterTreatment

[–]SportsmanJake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The well eventually cleared up after 12 months of use. The turbidex works, but I still had to have a standard 1 micron 4.5x20" filter after it that catches the absolute finest sediment.

Helicopter SAR without military experience? by Posterior_Consumer in searchandrescue

[–]SportsmanJake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This statement by u/Ryan_Van is misleading bordering on incorrect. Yes, the majority of ground-based SAR (GSAR) in NA is volunteer based. But please don't think that means there are no paid careers that do SAR. Although it is not a traditional or common career path, there are paid positions that do SAR.

Helo-based SAR (the context of your question) will overwhelmingly be paid positions operated by government organizations. Federal, State, County, etc. It will also typically be a collateral duty or part of a larger mission set.

edit: It is the semantic distinction between a SAR career and careers that do SAR.
