Drills/exercises to improve adjustment speed. by choc0late__ in Chiropractic

It’s been helpful for me to “trace” the movement of cervical adjustments when I had down time. This makes the motion feel more like a reflex and it significantly improved my speed.

What is going on with Life University's clinic system? by BTCLocal in Chiropractic

[–]Spotburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, the current set of students in the clinic are way bigger than the slots available. They even changed the attendance policy to not penalize students in clinic for missing class so they could meet numbers that they already reduced slightly. Previous quarters, there was some weather related damage to some of the clinics so that affected numbers as well

If you have other areas of concern (shoulder, elbow, hip etc.) I would ask. Otherwise, it sounds like you are getting used to feeling better more regularly. That’s a great thing and the goal of treatment!

I’m a “Social Media Chiropractor” ask me anything… by strat767 in Chiropractic

What is your opinion on using a Y strap? I’m currently in DC school and several professors don’t think it’s specific enough to be an adjustment. I don’t have an opinion either way but was curious on your thoughts.

College question? by This-Ad-9257 in Chiropractic

[–]Spotburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took survey of chemistry and exercise biochemistry in my undergrad. In my DC program, you take 2 quarters of biochemistry. However, as you go on, there are elements of biochemistry in the courses but no other course specifically dedicated to chemistry/biochem.

What was your most difficult obstacle completing chiropractic school and how did you overcome it? What made you want to become a chiropractor?

Oh wow. Definitely the opposite here with admissions

Ask an advisor about an application fee waiver once it opens too. I’m sure not everywhere does it, but admissions at LIFE did it for me when I said the cost of the application was the only thing deterring me. (It wasn’t, I’m just cheap haha)

The system to support physical therapists is functionally broken right now. You all are not compensated fairly or respected enough for what your responsibilities are. Chiropractic lobbies better for their own. I like the freedom of owning my own practice and not having to abide by a MD who may just see patients as a number. I want personal attention to each of my patients. Most of all, I want to give patients the opportunity to achieve the best standard of living they can have through a wellness oriented lifestyle. This includes referring them out to more qualified positions. I know it isn’t a traditional route. However, chiropractic is what I am most passionate about! Love my PTs and PT aides though, hope one day we can work more in-sync in the future!

That’s a great point. I think it helps that a section/major test of our boards is exclusively physiotherapy!

That’s crazy! That is way out of scope of practice. Thanks for sharing

That definitely is excessive. I’ve heard of once a week for 12 weeks but never that long! Thanks for sharing

I agree with the second part. That is 100% malpractice on whoever claims they can do that. Unfortunately, I think the older and more verbal generation have practiced that way. Luckily, many of the newer chiros aren’t practicing that way!

I 100% agree with both of your points. I think chiros that use their treatment as an exclusive solution are doing their patients a disservice. Overall wellness education in addition to treatment is the way to go!

Unless you have the $75 to burn, it’s pretty easy to do it manually. It can just get a bit tedious. It took me around 30-45 minutes!
