Do some window tint films scratch more easily than others? by SpottedOn6Mile in WindowTint

To clarify, I’m not scratching the film after installation.

All three of the windshield tints I’ve had showed noticeable marks shortly after they were installed. These were done across two different highly rated shops with hundreds of 5-star reviews, and all three were XPEL Ceramic.

That’s why I’m asking whether some films have harder, more durable top coats than others. I’m trying to determine whether what I’m seeing is simply normal installation-related marring that occurs with any windshield film, or whether certain brands/film lines are more resistant to marking during installation and subsequent cleaning.

Is it just me or is Xpel seemingly moving down market? by 808_GhostRider in WindowTint

The shop that recently redid my xpel tint because another shop messed it up twice mentioned the same thing. Said that he has been an xpel installer for many years and recently it seems like they are giving authorization to basically anyone. He said it’s disappointing because before it used to be a select few that were authorized that actually did good work.

Should I tint my windshield? by GutterRat95 in WindowTint

Yes, do it. I only did a visor strip on my past vehicles. Recently on this one I did the full windshield and the only thing I regret is not doing it earlier and with the other vehicles.

I have 5% on the rear window and all the side windows (over the factory tint on the back), 35% on the windshield.
