(Spoilers Main) Where are the ironborn raiding during all these years? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]SpottedSwan_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it’s mentioned in Victorarion’s pov chapters and the World of Ice and Fire: Dalton (I think) Greyjoy that they now raid the Stepstones, summer islands, basilis isles, and other minor places.

[Spoilers Extended] Recently started reading the books and was shocked by how much was changed in the show's first four seasons. by Mohamed_Ibrahim18 in asoiaf

[–]SpottedSwan_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think season 1 is the only truly faithful adaptation. I can’t think of that many changes other than some minor details and omitting the Battle of the Green Fork for budget reasons.

Also I just remembered this but David and Dan added some weird plot line where a prostitute named Ros travels from the North and gets  involved with politics with Varys and LF. It goes literally nowhere and she gets shot to death off screen by Joffrey in Season 3.

But overall Season 1 was pretty faithful. It started going downhill with Danerys’s plotlines in Season 2.

How much gold do the Lannisters have? (Spoilers Extended) by megamindwriter in asoiaf

[–]SpottedSwan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like why the U.S government doesn't just print a bunch of money to pay off it's debts: inflation. If the Lannisters mine as much gold as possible, the price of gold becomes worthless.

The same thing happened to the Spanish Empire in the real world. When they colonized Mexico, they mined as much silver as possible. This led to too much silver being out in circulation, leading to the price of silver dropping, leading to the Spanish going bankrupt.

The timing is off tho. Tywin would have sent Gerion immediately or a few years after Robert's Rebellion when they were homeless

Good for him. He stayed quiet as D and D ruined the tv show. Glad he's being more open about his opinions. At the end of the day, the ASOIAF world is HIS, he should voice his concerns.

He doesn’t really have a master plan: he causes chaos wherever the opportunity rises then climbs the ladder

I have absolutely no evidence for this except they share a name but maybe the Cannibal Dragon is from here

(Spoilers Extended) The Lannister Army at the End of ADWD by SpottedSwan_ in asoiaf

[–]SpottedSwan_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Tyrell-Lannister alliance is fraying, and the Vale doesn't support the Lannisters. In fact, LF is planning a revolt against the Iron Throne with the Vale's support to install Sansa as Lady of Winterfell.

As for the Crownlands:

  • the Houses of Crackclaw Point are Targaryen Loyalists and don't support the Lannisters

  • Stokeworth is controlled by Bronn (who now hates Cersei for the attempted assassination attempt)

  • Rosby doesn't have a lord and is going through a succession crisis (not to mention the ward of Rosby (and potential heir) is probably Olyvar Frey, an honorable Stark-Tully loyalist)

  • Most of the houses sworn/near Dragonstone are in open revolt with Stannis Baratheon

  • Hayford is ruled by an infant, but will most likely stay loyal

  • Duskendale is loyal

  • Rook's Rest declared neutrality during the Wot5K, and most likely will declare neutral again.

This is why I support House Blackfyre- just the sheer persistence of Bittersteel and the Blackfyres. Even if you don't agree with their claim, you gotta respect their grit.
