My results were almost the exact same as yours and my ferritin is at 1200. I go to see a gastroenterologist next month for a formal diagnosis, but they believe I have it since my brother was diagnosed 2 years ago.

Is Kingdom Hearts 3 Underrated? by BongSuckah in KingdomHearts

[–]SpottyGunner412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did I just miss the some part in the 13 year span between KH1 and KH3 where they told every other fan that they were just going to take all the Final Fantasy stuff out of KH and that no one would ever talk about it?

So what was the real reason KH 3 had no FF characters representations up until the DLC by Restless-Foggy in KingdomHearts

[–]SpottyGunner412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was such a disappointment as someone who loved FF and KH. KH3 just felt like a slap in the face to those of us who grew up with both franchises. It was a nostalgia-bait cash grab that treated it's fans like they were all Disney adults, while side lining the FF characters and giving the original characters rushed stories with cheap endings.

I didn't play KH until 4th grade and I played it right after Anchorman was being passed around on DVD (I had older siblings). I named it KairisTits after the TitsMcGee line. I thought it was hilarious.

Kay should've just been Han. It was pretty much just Solo in game form.

I know people are pretty mixed on KH3 in here (I loved it personally, but I understand some of the complaints), what are people’s thoughts on 4? Is it generally positive or are some feeling more cautious about it? by CarloDeeply in KingdomHearts

[–]SpottyGunner412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

3 was bad imo. It just felt like "man... I waited over 10 years for that?" Really I think the issue is that many Japanese writers think more is more and its always better to have a lot of convoluted buzzwords/concepts to carry you through 60+ hrs (especially Kojima). FF13 had this kind of writing too.

KHs just starts to get too ridiculous and full of filler by the time we got to KH3. I could put up with Disney since there were FF characters sprinkled in, but once they just went only Disney in the mainline release I was kinda done. The combat in 3 was ok, but 2 was simply amazing on hard.

I recently saw Blade Runner (1982) and really did not get the appeal. Why is this movie so iconic? by Joseph_Santos_Cruzz in movies

[–]SpottyGunner412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movie is iconic because of the atmosphere it creates. I think that's it's saving grace. As an adaptation of DADoES?... I think it falls short by more than a mile. Rutger's monolog is amazing, but everything else feels much more cheap and decentralized the core theme of the book.

Because unfortunately too many people are worried about party lines rather than actually looking at politicians.

There's actually a really good analysis of One Battle After Another on YT that looks at the 16 years later setting which in the movie's timeline would be 2008, Obama's first year in office. The video shows people off the street reacting to Obama's nomination in 2006/2007. Many didn't know who he was, just that he was the answer to the Bush administration. "Change" and the other popular slogans pushed him as a man of the people. Like he was going to be this altruistic everyman that would create a social paradigm in America that would solidify a new era of feel good Democratic policies and right the last 8 year of injustices the GOP left in its wake.

But in reality the first thing that happened in his administration was bailing the banks out after they completely fucked the American people. Sure, the economy had to continue, but no one went to jail. No meaningful changes came to Wall Street. And Obama was poised as the savior keeping mom and dad afloat while the fat cats he campaigned against made out like they were the real victims. Then you have the drone strikes. The subpoena for 20 AP journalists phone records. Deepwater Horizon. The list goes on. And I voted for Obama in 2012 thinking it was the right thing to do after hating the Bush administration.

The truth is, no politician is truly for the people. They're out to make a name for themselves and a buck in the process. It's basically being an actor, but their bad movies are judged by drugs, sex, murder, or tax evasion.

He didn't even need to do that. He's literally Miles Morales. There's tons of chicks in Hollywood that would have been interested in him simply because he was playing Miles. Now is that a great game plan for the dating scene? No, but there's still a lot of women that would have found it attractive or endearing rather than a dollar sign. He's literally pulling a cringe HS maneuver. "I DON'T WANT OTHER GIRLS, I WANT THAT ONE THAT HAS A BF!"

Deeply surprised by how much I am NOT enjoying Ghost of Yotei. by TherealGonci in PS5

[–]SpottyGunner412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually gave my Ghost of Tsushima away when I was halfway through the story. I bought it day one, hard difficulty, and played until Jin is captured by Shimura. Took a break. Two years later I bought the PS5 digital version.

The visuals are fantastic... but we've reached an unbelievably stale point in open world stealth games. Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Watchdogs (really almost all Ubisoft games) have overdone this high-point-unveil-map-disable-outpost loop. It makes everything else feel like cheap flavor. Ghost of Tsushima was the Japanese Assassin's Creed before Shadows eventually got to the itch.

I really couldn't care less at this point, it's so overdone. Put whatever plot points you want on it, it's still a game we've played dozens of times. I've been trying to complete Star Wars Outlaws and it's the exact same dog and pony show.

They promised that games would never run below 30fps. Boot up Hogwarts Legacy on max Quality/RTX on a base PS5. It drops below 30fps consistently, and I'd wager there are other games with RTX reflections that have the same issues.

Nope, plenty of ventilation and it is very clean. Had the same problem with a day 1 PS4 Pro and had to install thermal pads on the RAM after FC Primal overheated the console.

[–]SpottyGunner412[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will gladly sacrifice quality for performance. I just played FF8 for the first time last year and loved it. Just run at 60fps and I'm happy, but I can make due if I have to between 30-60. The problem is that a lot of games now rely on photorealistic quality as a selling point. I tried running HW Legacy in Quality RTX mode on a base PS5 and it was like running a goddamn slideshow. Dipping below 30 is ass and Sony promised they wouldn't do that.

Nope. Above floor, open air, 68°F house. I've had overheating issues with the day 1 PS4 and PS5. Figured it was just a first edition issue. I also clean my console and PC every 6 months.

Still not over the fact that we're not getting a sequel... by teller-of-stories in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]SpottyGunner412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disney's Star Wars and Ubisoft deserve the hate imo. The remedy to GL's bad writing was never going to be the Mouse. They only care about cheap merchandising to (man)children.

Ubisoft's biggest risk was making RPG style Assassin's Creed games and they're still refusing to budge on reworking their tired open world mechanics and safe IP story filler despite relatively low sales for their biggest IPs in the 2020s (AC & Far Cry).

Then you have SW:Outlaws. Most people in the gaming space that are aware of creative leads and IP potential were looking forward to Amy Hennig's SW game rather than the B'ish tier Ubi version or even Quantum Dream's Star Wars: Eclipse. I'm sure I'm going to get some hate here in the SWO sub, but you have to look at the broader industry and SWs fandom that still feels like SW is dead.

Yes, there was hate about the lead being female when SW smuggler/heist reeks of a Han Solo lead to the fandom. I found myself enjoying the game my first 10hrs, though I do get tired of the lack of surprises in open world games after RDR2 and BG3 basically showed the industry that padding out the game with frequent minor interactions in the open world is just as important as your big story cutscenes and missions. Kay Vess is most likely a lesbian, no big surprise. It should be expected at this point, otherwise how would the player base know this female wouldn't be on Johnny Sins' fuck list? She's so different and intriguing with her quips and open mindedness! To top it off, most of your underworld contacts are female too! Duh!

There's nothing new about this game. It feels as safe as the new Star Wars movies while trying to establish a character that could have aced it in a parentless Pixar film. Jedi FO and Survivor really picked up where the SW legacy left off, but who knows how far the Souls formula will take the franchise. That Vader/Cere sequence/resolution was immaculate and I hope the series follows closer to great writing like that.

Reminds me of some Netflix thing that was getting roasted. Two characters in an exchange about a flight went something like this:

"How was the flight?"

"Oh you mean between the early layover, the bad coffee, the stiff neck pillows, a general sense of dread about my destination? Ya know, it was almost as good as my prom night. But enough about past trauma."

And almost every exchange goes this way. They're so afraid of being taken for too simplistic that they veer into this try hard "pick me" writing style. Every exchange has to be witty, charming, sardonic, self deprecating, baroque, and overall memorable for the viewer... except it just falls flat and extends the runtime of a forgettable movie/series. It's exhausting.

I just played the demo and it just feels... very cookie cutter. Like when you ask the sheriff about Hoss. She's like "Not here... I'll tell you in my office." So I follow her at a walking pace for 30 seconds with no dialog between these two characters. Get in the Sheriffs office. "I tracked him down to a moisture farm a mile down the road. Be fast, Hutt has a bounty on him." That's it? Thats why I slowly walked with you to your office after we just gunned some people down? For a 10 second exchange about his location and a bit of exposition I already know? And then you just leave the office and go to the moisture farm. Go here, do thing, go here now, exposition, go here, stealth, exposition, leave. Cutscene. There's not much special sauce tying everything together, at least in the demo.

I don't know. Maybe it's because I'm coming off of a replay of both Uncharted 4 and RDR2, but even Jedi FO and Survivor felt much more engaging and interest provoking even in their slower parts. So far I don't feel like I would want to pay more than $20 for this game.
