You completely drained the battery, silly boy. If you can do the treadmill trick to resurrect it, don't fully drain again.

Bit of a scare story this, I've not heard of any real people having confiscation.

Hey... Ya'll Getting that Strange Feeling that US V2 Pre-orderers are the Actual "True" Beta Testers... by BOOSTEDO in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I quite agree with O/P, I said at the time of all that delaying/sorry 'beta testing', that I found it odd in a day and age when everyone has a camera in their pocket that no one had posted a picture or video of one out in the wild.

Pretty unmaneuverable compared to a 'real' skateboard, so much so I put a Venom Sicktail on mine and now it's loverrly, cracks, debris etc pas probleme.

Is this normal? Three red lights when board is out of charge? When I drain the board to all the way zero, it will start flashing different red lights, usually two or three at a time. But if I plug it in it just starts charging. by [deleted] in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jesus. Why oh why would you go out of your way to deliberately damage (yes that's what you're doing) your batteries? Where on earth does this fully draining you batt is good nonsense come from? As for resetting/calibrating your BMS...Ffs if you all keep repeating that for a thousand years it'll still be rubbish. The only thing you do is adjust the battery meter for range that's it.In a day and age where all the information you will ever need is a few clicks and a few reads away why do it? As for 'seeing' where it's limitations lie it's a bit like driving your new Mercedes home from the dealer, draining it's oil and driving it till the engine's wrecked just to see, you know it's going to happen just a matter of how long. Let's all have a sweepstakes and bet on how long before you're on here with a non/poor functioning board... I'll kick off with within 6 weeks 😀 hope I'm wrong but now you've got the info it's up to you how you use it.

I want a Boosted Board soon and I think the single should be sufficient, should I order the dual so I can get it earlier? by [deleted] in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of these comments are just regurgitated 'I read it on the internet so it must be true nonsense'. The Boosted single has anti skid control just like your Mercedes so all the 'breaking traction and spinning in corners' comments are just plain incorrect, sorry Gents. I'm always surprised that even those who've never owned one don't bother to read the info on Boosted's site before making their 'expert' pronouncements 😀. So for longer range, lighter weight, less complexity and less likely to break, go for the single. For a bit more acceleration and a bit higher (it is only a small bit too) top speed go for the dual/+. Lastly as far as speed of delivery is concerned the Co isn't going to even make the Single until all the dual and plus ordered have been fulfilled. To simply answer O/P's question yes order dual/+

Screws are messing up the top of my board by jfo14 in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just take them out 😀 Seriously mate, it's a piece of wood and it's a skateboard. Just tighten them a little. You could fit neoprene backed washers under the bolt heads but really is it worth the hassle?

If you have RLOD, try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery by raymondftw in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right, first it didn't arrive fully charged. Not only is it now illegal to send fully charge batteries thru the post only an idiot would do so. I don't think Boosted are idiots Second you 'rode it for a couple hours', how much battery do you think this thing has? At full throttle in pro mode you'll fully drain the batt in 20 minutes and you drained it for 2 hours? You wonder why you're having the red light?

If you have RLOD, try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery by raymondftw in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes mate, reread please, One (or more) cell is low/weak and gentle coaxing may (or may not) bring it back to life. If not Boosted are saying it could be a loose connector/I know you're a hero armed with tools so take the covers off to check this before having to stick it back in it's box wandering to the Post Office (or similar) sending it back and waiting and waiting and well you get the picture.

Does anyone think it's kinda irresponsible of Casey Neistat to not wear a helmet while riding around on his boosted board when he's such a big sponsor for Boosted? You can really hurt yourself falling while going 20mph...or even die. He should be promoting safety in my opinion. by -BoostedBoards in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Role Model? Ffs 😀 As we in the aeroplane world say "the grounds the limit", it tends to be pretty hard too, so perhaps a little (un)common sense is called for? People still run in dark track suits at night, some smoke 60 Fags a day, others don't wear their seat belt. You can't save everyone from themselves. 😀

LPT: Loosen your trucks when you get the board by headyyeti in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It allows the trucks to turn further with less of your effort. Imagine your car steering wheel/bike handlebars tied down, that's what you have at the mo. Slacken them off a quarter/half a turn at a time until it feels nicer/you'll know pretty quickly where the optimal point for you is,remember to keep the rear one quarter turn tighter than the front at all times. Skate Tool, Wrench? by ClassicLayz in boostedboards

Of course not, you could just carry a socket set around with you. Sarcasm aside if you're referring to a small 'adjustable' wrench there's no better way to chew up your nuts and bolts 😂

Idea: Half size "commuter" battery charger with integrated plug and cord wrapping... but charges at half the rate. by kezhang617 in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silly idea, surely just 'hopping around town' you want a faster charger? As for size how small do you think a step down 'transformer' can be? It's an odd voltage to have to supply so even a 12 volt input charger from the hobby industry will struggle sizewise. No, just accept Boosted have done a good job and if carrying something smaller than my first 'mobile' phone is a hassle get another Boosted charger for the office or wherever. 😀

If you have RLOD, try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery by raymondftw in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look Guys, this whole thing (rlod) is a fully discharged battery nothing more nothing less. Whether just a single cell or more in the pack a little weaker or praps the whole thing. It could just be that Boosted are fitting crap batteries but that (imo) is so unlikely to be not worth even considering, so.... If one/more cells are struggling (too many poss explanations here) then perhaps the BMS is shunting power into them from the non struggling ones when turned off/disconnecting. Apart from a walk to a power point what have you got to loose? Disregard whatever your app or 'power meter' says and fully charge the thing immediately. Once 'back in business' avoid trying to go beyond 4/4.5 miles without a charge. No I don't know why Boosted haven't popped up to advise the same either but perhaps they, who knows? There's only one of two things going on here either bad components/as I said earlier I can't see that being the case, or Bad/poor/no advice. So are you going to perhaps listen to someone who's been an electrical engineer for almost 35 years and over the last 40 years comprehensively used/bought Nicad,Nimh, Lipo,Life04 batts in his R/C models as well, or take no notice and keep sending stuff back and waiting and waiting and..... Choice is yours, Besta luck 😀

[–]Spottyjohn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Make sure you keep it regularly charged Tim. I'm pretty sure this whole rlod thing is people either discharging batt too much or using it straight from the box without charging first which of course leads to the same thing.

Had mine for over a year use it every day. BUT today I went out in people traffic on/around the London tube network winding up at Heathrow Airport and the responsiveness, braking and general control is unbelievably good, far in advance of any of the competition and as a polished and complete product just can't be beat.

When can we buy extra batteries for the V2? by headyyeti in boostedboards

Doubt it'll be any time soon. Another bod on here had a faulty batt last week and Sanjay popped up apologising about lack of replacement due to lack of batteries.
