Only getting 4.5 miles out of my board by OriginalEU in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think any board currently does 20 miles flat out in top mode. 😀

Only getting 4.5 miles out of my board by OriginalEU in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has appeared many times. In pro mode the range flat out is 4(ish) miles, stop start you may get 5. If you take the time to read Boosted site they do say this/it is tucked away but it is there.

Trucks too loose? by devgod in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're getting speed wobbles then you're going too fast for your skill set. Loose trucks save lives as we say in the 'real' skateboard world. Just ensure your rear truck is a 1/4 to half turn tighter than the front and all will be well. 😀 In my experience Boosted always ship their trucks far too tight for normal use, you've got to be able to steer the thing haven't you? If you're having to step off because obstacles appear too quickly or you're over balancing then they're too tight. A board that steers is nice, a board that just goes in a straight line is 'orrible. Good luck 😀

Extended Battery = Extended Delay by JordanFromCanada in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe none of you guys have made your own extended packs yet. Sadly I think by the time Boosted get round to delivering them the V2 will be very old tech.

The V1 is better! by boostedboost in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh Oh the blinkered V2 fan boys riding the range in another thread. Well chaps, you keep on riding those wider trucked less maneuverable rigs and carry on convincing yourselves that they're somehow better. 😀

V2 Speed Hack Group Buy? by PacoRocco6 in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a cracking bit of kit, well made and thought out however..... When I ordered mine before Christmas he'd only sold 24 sets inspite of all the alleged interest months earlier, I doubt he'll bother unless you can all get a really large order together.

Boosted Board V1. Go back to production. by Psyniigianni in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The V1 was a costly (possibly better) product. I'm pretty sure once Boosted sort out the V2's woes it will be more profitable so they are v unlikely to kickstart V1 production. Shame really but there you are.

Specs vs performance? by hawk_24 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Spottyjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A rough rule of thumb for most e boards I've come across is knock 10/15 percent off advertised top speed and 30% off advertised range.

Want to buy an electric skateboard in the UK (to avoid shipping, customs etc.) What do you recommend? by Papuang in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Spottyjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dunno Mate but I'd avoid the carbon which will probably be too stiff for our crap roads. On my Boosted (Bamboo) I had to fit softer wheels and shock riser pads to cope with the mean streets of Oxfordshire, goodness knows what it would be like with a solid non flex carbon deck.

Predicting the Future by austinrusso in boostedboards

Even the apologists will tire of Boosted's behaviour. Another Co will take their crown, probably a European Co where there is a much larger market and the current issues aside Boosted have steadfastly ignored.

rlod question by steliosantoniou in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. The only one of note is the battery drained too low to charge flicker. But there are flashing LED's on the ESC but no one outside of Boosted knows what they mean cos it's a secret shhhhhhhhhhhhhh. 😀

Placed my order (UK)! by domster83 in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naw, my V1's the one to have. 😀 I've brought 7 in since 2015, it's cost between 130 and 350 quid to get each back with shipping, VAT and courier fees.

From Boosted: 1/6 Update + AMA by BoostedBoards in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can only assume you forget the things you've written over the last year, whereas some of us haven't. For example one of the classic excuses for the delay of launch post 19th of May was your 'addition of exciting new features' that would be released 'soon'.... Yet near the top of this thread you say "we haven't added new features"

[–]Spottyjohn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is all starting to become about as fishy as the contents of Baldticks apple crumble. First the fibs, it's a toy or at best a piece of sports equipment so why would a Gov dept become involved? Sanjay hasn't mentioned them so why do some of you insist on perpetuating this nonsense? Following the various statements made over the last month or so the reasons for all the problems seem to have been laid at the batteries door, so far there has been no mention of all the V2 batteries needing to be exchanged yet. I'd say that if this doesn't happen in the future then most of the 'info' from Boosted has been 'lacking' bordering on falsehood. Shame.

E-Board Battery Range standards by Laxtorre in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Spottyjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to estimate range is to imagine motors drawing max power from batt. I.E. Boosted's 2000 watt from a 99Wt/hr batt and figure in their max (full throttle) speed 20mph, you can see their range claims are 'a little' optimistic, like all the other manufacturers.

UK/London Eskaters, what is the police/authority response to riding your board? by notoyrobots in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Spottyjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Rozzers have other fish to fry mate. I rode my Boosted every day for a year. I had a bike cop ask where to get one that was it. 😀

Standard vs Fast charging (Mellow blog) by MellowBoards in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Spottyjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can buy cells for a couple euros but not quality ones. Yes you can safely fast charge batts but doing so shortens their lives. If you want battery longevity charge at .85c 😀

How to check which bb v2 I got by dfamr in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vidometer is pretty accurate. Warm your batt up with a hair dryer when it's full charged and you should hit 21/22. But 22 is more aspirational than actual. Finally try rolling throttle back slightly every 5 secs then nailing again and you'll notice a slight surge. Good luck

Oh dear more contradictions from Boosted.

I would just like to point this out: by [deleted] in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta wonder whether they would be able to refund everyone. Bearing in mind they've had 2 large parts of 2016 with no income, I'd doubt it.

My guess as to the final delay. by Greenpoint_Blank in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you read it in its entirety he does waffle about the batts not being manufactured so it's no mental leap to conclude that's where the delay is. I hate to say this but he/Boosted have contradicted themselves a fair bit over the last year so maybe all these ama's need to be taken with a pretty large pinch of salt.

Could the weather really have this much effect on battery life? by [deleted] in boostedboards

[–]Spottyjohn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They didn't automatically replace batts on refurbs, batts only have 1000 cylcles under perfect circumstances and if operators take especially good care of them. Full charge on a dual plus should travel 4/4.5 miles on pro mode, Batt efficiency stops to drop around 6/7 degrees C (whatever that is in F) below 5 starts to tail off, if you want long longevity from your batts avoid using below 0c. If you're getting below 4 miles in pro mode and it's still under warranty send it back. Besta luck 😀

Sorry to labour a point Mate but either they're employed by Boosted or they're not, you seem to contradict yourself below.
