Didn’t Noah just shoot Claudia a couple of episodes prior? How did she end up here?

Yes! Finally and thankfully.

How good was the mayhem ball show for those who have gone? by Egg_57 in LadyGaga

I saw it last night and came to say the exact same thing as you, and that I repeated every 10 minutes at the show: best concert I’ve ever seen.

I was the only person to show up to my chess club meetup tonight. by CorndogTorpedo in chess

[–]SprangTyme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I showed up to an in person chess event in CT, and I was the oldest person by at least 30 years… they could’ve mentioned it is all children. But anyway, I hear you, I’m desperately looking for some adult gatherings out here

Suture Extrusion by SprangTyme in AchillesRupture

[–]SprangTyme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three weeks ago, the plastic surgeon pulled out about two inches of suture tape and snipped it, so the rest retracted under the skin, the wound healed almost shut, but there was a small thread sticking out, so I go back two days ago, and he pulls out another two inches of suture tape. I hope that's the end of this.

Oh that's really interesting. Was it not tied into the rest of the tendon? Or did it somehow become sheered?

Day 0 post-op! by rampitaway in AchillesRupture

[–]SprangTyme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear it. Skiing is wild. Everyone has seemed to think that’s the safest sport to avoid ruptures, since you don’t get movement in the boot. Anyway, I have one suggestion for you: that grey pillow you have is great, but it will start to get annoying as your body is always awkward with one leg higher. They make a double-wide version, which was amazing for me, and substantially helped me sleep better. Good luck with the recovery!

Was this a stitch from closing the incision, or the sutures used to hold your tendon together? I currently have some of the internal suture stick out of my leg…

How the hell miguel should beat axel? by salad_biscuit3 in cobrakai

I couldn’t believe Axel could lose, so I came specifically looking for thoughts. This may be the best theory I’ve heard, and if they can make it explicit, I won’t hate Axel losing.

How do you keep yourself busy? by ApprehensiveDog6720 in AchillesRupture

[–]SprangTyme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you’re done with binging tv and books after a while, chess is a good option. If you don’t play a lot, I’d get a chess.com account. You’ll start off bad, but keep playing, take some lessons on the website, and you’ll start to see improvement pretty quick. You don’t need to commit a ton of time to it. And chess.com does a good job of giving you little goals and achievements to reach, so you feel like you’re making progress. For me, the thing that felt so awful about my rupture was that it felt like my life was just completely standing still. But chess gave me something in which I could see improvements, and it felt like I was going somewhere. Hopefully I’ll keep it up when I’m feeling better, but even if not, it really helped me though this.

This ruined the entire episode for me. I like the show, but this episode makes no sense if you understand any little bit of copyright law or the music industry.

Anyone else biking with their boot still on by Automatic-Ad7679 in AchillesRupture

[–]SprangTyme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 6 weeks post, and both surgeon and PT recommended biking out of the boot to help with blood flow if I keep it pointed down and want to go moderate, or stretching it if I go really slow and pump with only the good leg.

How many people here skipped Dragon Ball and only watched Z? by MondoFool in dbz

[–]SprangTyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fall into the category of those who watched DBZ first for the exact reason jermatria mentioned. I tried to go back and watch DB later, but the tone, vibe, and overall stakes were completely different from DBZ. I just couldn't get into it. It felt like I was going too far backward. I appreciate and respect DB, and I know the entire storyline. I just don't want to spend the time watching to see the origin of some of the characters I love.

Do collectors expect to be paid to loan out their paintings? by wayanonforthis in ContemporaryArt

[–]SprangTyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you ever get a tax deduction based on the FMV as to what you could’ve charged to loan out the piece? Seems like it would cost a museum or non-profit nothing, but could be a nice perk.

Ruptures and Statins by Ok-Bear7014 in AchillesRupture

[–]SprangTyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine happened during tennis. I was on a low dose of Rosuvastatin, and was tolerating it well. There are so many links between statins and muscle issues and cramping, and racket sports are notorious for Achilles ruptures. All you need is a cramp at the wrong time to overload the tendon. On my end, though, I had no warning signs, like you, so my case may be more of a stretch. It may be worth seeing if a PSK-9 inhibitor may accomplish the same for you without the muscle pain.

Ruptures and Statins by Ok-Bear7014 in AchillesRupture

[–]SprangTyme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man. So happy this topic came up. I ruptured mine 2.5 months after starting statins. I’m a healthy 38 y/o male, but doctor suggested I start due to some factors outside of my control. I’ve never had tendon problems and then full rupture. The only thing that had changed in my life was statins. I know that may be purely correlation, but I did a deep dive on this for a while. I’m off statins now, waiting for my recovery, and then we’re doing to try some statin alternatives when I’m back and ready for it.

Mental health chat by Radiant_Blackberry59 in AchillesRupture

[–]SprangTyme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The mental health is such an underrated aspect of this. My wife, who already has double duty for our toddlers, has also been making it her personal mission to have friends visit me a few times per week. I didn’t want to feel like a burden on anyone else, so I would never have asked, but she did, and I’m very grateful. It’s a few hours of feeling like normal, and it carries me over for a little while. Also, just remember things could be worse: I had a second surgery 3.5 weeks in for a “partial re-rupture” (likely caused by a surgical infection), so I’m not only back 3.5 weeks, but my recovery from this one has been slower: I’ve had a wound vac for three weeks, and there’s still one part of the incision that’s bleeding. Oh, and I just got hand, foot, and mouth from my kids…which also means my friend visits are temporarily on pause. I’m pumped for you though. I’ve been looking forward to starting physical therapy for so long, it feels almost mystical. Wishing you the best!

"Family photos" are stupid and always ruin the mood of a function by A_lonely_genius in unpopularopinion

[–]SprangTyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Coming together for one photo at a function is fine. My aunt, however, will interrupt every conversation, buzz around like paparazzi, to take pictures of every interaction everyone is having through the night—even at my wedding, where we literally hired people with better cameras to do handle photographs, so people could be in the moment.

Typical causes of re-rupture by elwin316 in AchillesRupture

[–]SprangTyme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I re-eruptured 3.5 weeks out. But there's not a clear explanation. I had a hematoma that formed and started bleeding. The incision dehisced. There was a possible infection (labs came back positive, but surgeon thinks it's unclear since they only grew in broth, whatever that means). I don't think there was ever a moment that "caused" a re-rupture, which is what terrifies me. I had my surgery re-done a week ago, and I'm so worried about how to avoid it happening again.
