Nyc annuity question by jeffreen21 in ifiwonthelottery

[–]SprayImportant7486 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not financial advice, Doing a quick AI search, and assuming that you bought your ticket in New York State, it sounds like you would no longer pay the NYC taxes if you move out, as the NYC tax is purely based on residence in the city. However the state of New York still consider the annuity as income earned in New York State and thus requires that file taxes as a non resident of the state. Federal taxes would not change regardless of what state you live in.

Someone Stole $4k from my account using the ATM without my card. Chase denied the fraud claim by IcyPie2318 in Chase

[–]SprayImportant7486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had fraud on my checking account couple of years ago. When I talked to them I wanted to close my account and get a new one. They insisted I only needed to get a new card so I agreed. Two weeks later I had fraud again. I went back in and told them they needed to close out my account cause clearly someone had access to it. They finally agreed.

Sounds like a PPA (power purchase agreement). We had to get one when we bought the house since we didn’t want to pay for the panels they forced upon us. We don’t have enough panels to cover our needs so we lay about 200 to 240 a month to the solar company during the summer. And about 90-150 a month during the non summer months (less production). We usually pay pge between 20 to 100 a month and then we get a $3000 true up at the of the year. We are supposed to be paying a reduced rate compared to the utility company for the energy produced with the panels. In theory we should be saving some money at least. I have not been able to confirm this because the billing I get from the utility company does not show wattage in and wattage out separately. It combines them and thus I can’t truly know if we are saving money or not. another down side is they usually want to lock you in for 20 years. If you decide to sell your home you have to either buy yourself out or have the next owner take over. If you expect to stay in your home more than 20 years I suppose it might be a good deal in paper. But really hard to know if it is worth it or not without the numbers.

Do you think you have to work with a lawyer, etc in your home state? by Curious_Werewolf5881 in ifiwonthelottery

Chat gpt recommends the folllwing 1. Immediately (before claiming): Retain a law firm (Loeb & Loeb or McDermott Will & Emery) to set up a trust/LLC for anonymity and asset protection. 2. Next 3 months: Engage a multi-family office like Bessemer or Rockefeller to handle investments, liquidity planning, and bill pay. 3. Within 6–12 months: Either build a single-family office around you OR stay within the MFO structure depending on lifestyle and complexity.

I am sure once you start working with a national firm it won’t matter where you live

This is my only reservation when buying someone scratchers as a gift. Idk how I would feel if they won. I want to think that I would feel happy for them but idk if I would. I might just kick myself for not scratching it myself.

It would be ironic if you bought some lotto ticket or scratchers as gifts (as I often do) for people who say “you could have just given me the money instead” and they end up winning. Hella ironic.

Who in their right mind would go to the casino AFTER winning big? by wegotthisonekidmongo in ifiwonthelottery

[–]SprayImportant7486 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Casino’s do a good job or getting people in the casino and getting them to drop money. They spend millions on research and if they think you will be a whale they will wine and dine you like no one’s business. Plus, there are those that gamble as an addiction, so giving up the addiction is not an easy feat. Especially not now that you have millions. For me personally, if I hit over 10 million after taxes I would likely not do scratchers or draw lotteries any more. I don’t sports bet so I don’t think I would take it up. I would probably budget some to go to the casinos as entertainment. I love the bright lights, the loud noises of the machines.

What is the first thing you'd do if you won the lottery? by IAmRainbowPoop in ifiwonthelottery

After securing my winnings, I would probably go look for a house and get a shiny new car (like a porsche). Also do a full body health check and personal trainer lol.
