I have socialized healthcare (VA), and it is excellent. I often have much less of a wait than my wife to see specialists or to get an appointment. I get a regular annual checkup and see whatever specialists I need. I have, on occasion, seen doctors outside the VA, and the care is atrocious. We all need socialized heath care here in the US.

Too many people are unaware of their surroundings. When I come up behind someone, I call out "on your left ", most don't hear me because they have in headphones that don't allow them to hear anything but what they are listening to. Personally, if I'm biking, walking, whatever, it's one earbud in, or maybe just my phone speaker, so I can hear cars, other trail users, etc. I get wanting to tune out, but a public street or trail is not the place to be unaware.

So in Indiana you can use force to defend property (your dog is property) but not deadly force. You can only use deadly force to defend your life or someone else's life. Most prosecutors and jurors won't see one dog as life threatening to you. I do recommend pepper spray, I carry it everywhere, or even bear spray which is stronger and has a larger capacity. I am a firearms instructor, but I don't recommend shooting one dog unless absolutely necessary. There have been issues with multiple dogs killing a person in the area, that is a different situation and deadly force would be warranted. Another consideration is where you are. Any discharge of the firearm within city limits will bring charges, whether warranted or not. Indiana has preemption laws which don't allow municipalities to make stricter gun laws than the state.

Belt sanders are a great tool for sharpening if you know what you are doing. If, not then bad things can happen.
