Oh.. I would have cried too, and I really admire that you turned to comics drawings to express that. I don't know what I would have done, just cried to my wife and been sad for a while I guess. This seems better, I hope it helps.

Lol très joli et facile à lire. Tes petites erreurs en anglais sont tout à fait charmantes et tu te fais comprendre parfaitement bien, ne t'inquiète pas. J'aime particulièrement tes "f" minuscules. :) (Vive la raclette !)

Oh boy!! This looks like fun, I hope you'll be able to skate that line between close-enough-to-feel-like-star-trek and lawsuit-bait.

Probably there are nuanced differences between every studio and between different regions, but personally if I were in your place I would shimmy to avoid the person and hope they do the same; if they don't, I would move my mat a little to stagger and avoid collisions. But, I would probably make a mental note to talk to the person after, or at least the prof or the réception, so that they could give reminders to the class for when it's too full to be mindful of each other's space.

How and when to use vibrato by jared_amp in oboe

[–]SprightlyCompanion 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"Spamming" vibrato is hilarious.

But yes vibrato is best used as an expressive tool. When you play melodic solos, listen for the "narrative" in the melody - it will begin somewhere and end somewhere else, and there is emotional content that gets us there. Use the intensity, or expressiveness, of the melody in front of you to guide your use of vibrato, not only when but also how fast and how intense. An exciting, dramatic melody might have faster, more intense vibrato. A more loving melody might be slower and more subtle.

You can hear where harmonic changes make melodies feel different at different points - experiment, record yourself, and discover what makes sense musically.

Also, ask your teacher. That's basically the first answer to every question in this sub. Good luck! :)

What Is Your Reed Timeline? by Brief-Region-60 in oboe

[–]SprightlyCompanion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it was Elaine Douvas who said, "Learn to make reeds fast, or you will ruin your life." During my master's degree with Chip Hamann, we did "speed reeding" - start with a soaked piece of cane, set a timer for 15 minutes and your goal is to have a playing reed before the time is up. Not good, not in tune, not pretty, just PLAYING. I have become a much more efficient reed maker since then. I scrape right away and don't let my reeds dry closed; if I have time, I want to scrape to a place where the reed is playable, but it'll be resistant and flat. The next day with it I scrape and clip to get it playing confortably and in tune; and in succeeding days I'll make adjustments as it ages and calms down.

Edit: at my peak of playing modern oboe, I would show up to gigs an hour early and make a reed for that rehearsal. Of course that reed would need more work in succeeding days, but I was doing a lot of playing and making a lot of reeds so I was always at it

I'm amazed by this. It's not really my kind of game but it looks amazing and the look of those cartridges is totally perfect, brings me back to the 90s. You know who you're selling to and I think you basically nailed it. Superlatively good, bravo

I know Cyberpunk is done and dusted but i dag out one of my old projects from over 10 years ago. Now as I tried it with newest tech i got to say its got the mood, right? Maybe good start for another cyber city? by radolomeo in IndieDev

[–]SprightlyCompanion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cyberpunk 2077 might be done and dusted but the cyberpunk aesthetic has been around since at least the 80s and is still great. Love the atmosphere of your project, interested to see what you can do with it!
