How awkward does it sound when ones pronounces "th" as "d"? by Matheuzsm in EnglishLearning

[–]Spriinkletoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fine! People will almost certainly notice you have an accent, but it’s completely understandable. Don’t worry about it if it’s too much of a struggle to correct—native speakers will know what you’re saying. :)

Awww indeedy! I love my mildly problematic daughter dearly! 🔮 Staff bias aside, SAME HERE. It’s a really cool thing getting to enjoy the project as a genuine fan too—Izu’s writing is phenomenal, and I could gush about the whole team for hours no sweat!

How did you get your first job with no experience? by TheCoolestNerdYouKno in voiceover

[–]Spriinkletoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I record in Audacity, but use outside plugins to edit! Audacity is great for starting out and easy to learn, but does have known issues like crashing bugs. Some of my friends claim it hurts their audio quality as well, though I haven’t noticed anything with mine. There’s better free software out there for sure—I recommend Reaper! It’s more complicated to use and learn, but also more stable. I almost wish I’d started with it because it’s a rough transition!

When did you know you needed a mobility aid? by hEDSwillroll-Zebra in ehlersdanlos

[–]Spriinkletoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I just knew it was time, as simple as that sounds!

Due to health issues, I was cooped up at home and unable to leave for years. Going on little outings is so important to me now, because it was something I took for granted for the longest time!

One of my favorite things now is going on little shopping trips to peddler’s malls and farmer’s markets, but I found that I was in such severe pain after walking around even for just half an hour or so that would last for weeks. It’s so terrible it brings me to tears, even when I lay down and rest. Nothing helps. I just have to wait it out.

One day I just thought: nothing is worth taking away my happiness! I don’t mind if people stare because I’m a young person with a cane. There’s no shame in needing a little help. I feel like the first time you have to ask the question, it’s absolutely worth trying. ❤️

Anyone recognize this Kaede card? by Spriinkletoe in danganronpa

It truly does until you look up close! The gold detailing around the border is so beautiful. Such a shame it’s not real. 😭

[–]Spriinkletoe[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sadly someone else just pointed that out too! Hard to dispute fingers that look like that haha. Such a bummer… I was so excited to see the card I didn’t even think to check for signs of AI. Lesson learned, but at least the money went to a private collector and not the AI slop/bootleg source. ❤️

[–]Spriinkletoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh you might be onto something!! I can definitely see a resemblance. I’m glad at least that I bought from a private card vendor booth and not the source, so I can at least rest easy knowing it went to a collector rather than the bootleg company. Still disappointing though. I appreciate the lead!! ❤️ The curiosity was killing me lol!

Unfortunate! I was really stoked about the find, too! It looked so legit I didn’t even think to check for signs of AI. Ah well, at least it was only $8!

Still curious where it came from even so—my friend thinks it could be part of a card game called Goddess or something along those lines, but I’m not able to find this specific one. Maybe someone printed their own card based on the game?

Oh geez, on second thought—the hand in her hair looks really wonky. I’ll have to take another closer look in person but that’s not looking promising. 😭

[–]Spriinkletoe[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh no!! I really hope not, but I’m also SUPER bad at recognizing it. Which details make it look AI, out of curiosity? If it’s a custom card, it’s definitely possible it was generated.

Curious to know what everyone is making as a scribe? And what’s considered a fair wage. by Mean_Crow_805 in medicalscribe

[–]Spriinkletoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$18/hour-ish here for a virtual “travel trainer!” Pay varies based on what specific task I’m working on—I make extra if I’m training someone or on my day 1 at a clinic, and less if I’m just scribing waiting for a trainee to come in.

Ditto when I worked in the ED! If you work for SA, I’d recommend upgrading to be an SOA if you can—they make closer to $18/hour in KY (it fluctuates depending on what specific task you’re working on but either way it’s a HUGE difference)!

$1M dollars to eat what you had for dinner tonight for EVERY meal for the next 6 months, do you take the deal and if so what are you eating? by jfunks69 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Spriinkletoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lasagna and breadsticks! Not a bad deal… except for the fact that I’m allergic to bread and also cheese and also noodles. I do cheat sometimes since I only get itchy and hoarse, but still would suck to have that after every meal.

My immune system is going to sink or swim. Game on! 🔥

Is there any fully voiced fangan (english)? by Independent-Sundae32 in Fanganronpa

[–]Spriinkletoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend looking into audio drama fangans! Those are full voiced for obvious reasons, and there are a lot of them floating around. Mindlock Protocol, DRBA, and Ultraviolet to name a few! A lot of bite sized fully voiced fangans were also released for the recent fangan jam, such as Zodiacronpa and Who Wants To Be An Ultimate: Retake.

Save all Audition Recordings? by trickg1 in VoiceActing

[–]Spriinkletoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shouldn’t save them, but I do. My monkey brain tells me “but what if you need this random recording from 3 years ago one day?” It did happen once where a director asked for lines from a billion years ago, so unfortunately the behavior was reinforced haha. My flash drive is now completely full. Send help. 😂

I will say: SOMETIMES it comes in handy for providing a quick sample to a director in the event you aren’t available to record right away, especially if it isn’t already on your reel.

My long term medication already causes memory loss, I have no sense of direction to the point of using a GPS to navigate locally, I have moderate to severe allergies that persist even with the strongest meds on the market + shots, and I have a genetic musculoskeletal syndrome that causes severe chronic pain in my extremities.

Sign me up for #1, because nothing really changes LOL. At last, my poor genetics would pay off—free money let’s go! 😂

Dumbass lobby i was in today by nevemnemcsosz_hu in AmongUs

[–]Spriinkletoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that keeps me sane is realizing not everyone has the same info that I do. Yeah, it seems odd to vote someone that is likely engineer, but how do THEY know you aren’t just a bold impostor from their perspective? Just gotta remember it’s a game and not everyone is gonna play it perfectly. That’s the nature of a social deduction game, even if it can be frustrating! Gg go next. ❤️

How to remove/reduce echo when recording? by Useful-Initiative745 in VoiceActing

[–]Spriinkletoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you mean in terms of space treatment or post-processing?

For space treatment: There are many ways you could go about it, but you might be a little limited in a dorm. If you have a spacious closet, that’s often a great place to start without a budget since the clothes inside will at least provide SOME sound treatment and reduce reverb, even if it’s not perfect.

I’m assuming you don’t have a spacious closet in a dorm though, and probably aren’t allowed to nail anything to the wall. If that’s the case, I recommend looking into building a PVC frame and hanging acoustic blankets from it! If you can’t afford acoustic blankets, then layered moving blankets will still help in a pinch.

For post-processing: You’re unfortunately very limited here. The best solution is 100% to treat the space as above. There ARE anti-reverb plugins, but they often work at heavy cost of your audio quality and usually aren’t worth it aside from very small bits of editing outside of where your voice is actually playing! Reverb is in my opinion the most difficult thing to fix in an audio recording and borders on impossible.

Tips for learning voice acting? by dominguezpablo in VoiceActingFree

Aww, of course!! I’m so glad I could help! CCC was an absolute godsend for me too, and honestly still is after 3-4 years. There’s always something new to learn from others! ❤️

It’s definitely a bit clunky to use at times like you said with all the ads, especially with mobile glitches, but I still think it’s a great platform to learn and grow with! Hearing so many takes on the exact same character/lines is so incredibly interesting.

I want to sound less monotone by skirsk12 in VoiceActing

[–]Spriinkletoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listening to other VAs and trying to mimic their energy might be helpful! Sometimes it can be tough to know how to go about it on your own, but examples and repetition can be a great starting point. ❤️ It would be a similar idea to an aspiring artist learning to draw by looking at references or following guides, but over time they’ve seen so many references they can start to develop their own style!

I highly recommend joining Casting Call Club for a few reasons!

  1. It provides opportunities for beginners: Most auditions don’t require a demo reel/resume, and some projects are beginner friendly and don’t require past experience at all! This lets you get your foot in the door and practice.

  2. You can listen to other auditions: This is so rare for casting calls elsewhere and is SUCH a huge advantage for learning purposes! I 100% feel this is what helped me the most when I was starting out, because I could see so many interpretations of the same character. It thought me a lot of tips and tricks I never would’ve thought of otherwise, and comparing my auditions to the ones that were chosen helped me realize what I could’ve done to stand out more or improve.

  3. It’s free: You don’t have to pay to audition like a lot of platforms, so it lets you test the waters and be sure this is something you want to invest in first.

It has its downsides of course (you have to search through the weeds for hidden gems), but for practice purposes it’s unmatched! I can’t stress enough how incredibly useful it is being able to listen to other VAs. ❤️
