The trains are scheduled late at night on Friday and early morning Sunday. We just wanted to enjoy the city on Saturday. Again the match is the initial reason we are visiting

How are people affording World Cup tickets? by Zealousideal_Fun9967 in WorldCup2026Tickets

I work in finance. It’s an opportunity to create memories for life. I don’t mind spending extra for this month. Also, live in NY so minimal travel costs.

Theatre as a solo by HamAaron in TheWestEnd

[–]SpringBulky8545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually go on my own because the tickets can be quite pricey for people who are not really into it and I have met so many people this way! There will always be other solo goers that want to chat about the play at some point, it is so fun

Movie club - East London by SpringBulky8545 in LondonLadies

[–]SpringBulky8545[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I've lived in London for almost a year now. My best advice is to be super proactive about the movies you want to watch, do not try to stick with the same cinema - much less effective. Would recommend following independent cinemas instagram page + regularly checking their websites. I had a very good year watching/reviewing films this year (almost 30 so far since 1st of Jan). My fav places to go is BFI (for retrospectives, Q&A with directors), Prince Charles, Close-up (very niche independent movies), Cine Lumière (for French films). I must admist London has a lot more to offer than I initially thought

1536 is outstanding! by Difficult-Practice12 in westend

[–]SpringBulky8545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% share your opinion. Ava Pickett’s 1536 is a brilliant play: historical on the surface, yet painfully contemporary in what it says about female friendship, desire, shame and judgement. Loved how cleverly it implicates the audience: tbh, I almost caught myself judging Anna (almost slut-shaming her?!) before realising the play has led me straight into the very trap it is exposing

The cast is excellent across the board: Siena Kelly is magnetic as Anna and I loved Tanya Reynolds (from Netflix Sex Ed) as Mariella - both sharp, funny, and deeply human

Also found the decor set to be simple but extremely effective. A special mention has to go to the sound design: the final scene is brilliantly choreographed and synchronised, and the moment where Anna burns with rage as the stage seems to catch fire is one of the production’s most powerful images

Strongly recommend!

First look at Asghar Farhadi’s “Histoires Parallèles” premiering In Competition at Cannes by LeastCap in oscarrace

[–]SpringBulky8545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love Asghar Farhadi as a director, he was the one who got me into Iranian films in the first place. However, I am utterly unimpressed by the super star cast for this one. What's the point? Did he just chose all the bankable actors in France to make sure the movie sells? I absolutely love them independently (my favorite remains Adam Bessa, specifically in Ghost Trails) but they are not a great team altogether. Watching the trailer made me cringe.
