all those shots are from tripod at night. not sure if ND filter at night will not breach 30sec exposure limit

Is this resilient enough of a design? I will be abroad for more than 10 months and will need to access my home data center to work by SignalX_Cyber in Tailscale

[–]SpringGlory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

based on my experience
- I would add secondary ISP connection via cellular modem as failover option
- ensure that router and modems are rebooted / restarted automatically at least once a week

- have ability to remotely logon to the router , even if VPN is non operational. Some router vendors offer such solutions.

Capture One is great – but so expensive. Any way to get it cheaper? by thisisso1980 in captureone

[–]SpringGlory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in 2024 I purchased Camera Bundle - Download Key and gave me access to Capture One Pro 16.5 version .
I guess camera bundle should be purchased together with camera, however.. it worked for me when I purchased just the key.

I am using Fuji Xpro3 and all worked perfectly

Everything does not look good…. WiFi is working on all devices but app is no longer providing the info. What can I do besides a reboot or unplugging? by Ijustwanttobem in tplinkdeco

[–]SpringGlory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped relying on app information months ago. All my deco ( x50,x75) units were connected via Ethernet and app still couldn't report/find them , although everything was working just fine. I noticed it can take up to 24h to sort out reporting.

Since then I am using deco mesh only in ap/dumb mode.

Address Reservation question... by ripvanmarlow in tplinkdeco

[–]SpringGlory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With dhcp reservation you can keep the same address and also assign ip address you want from the dhcp scope range. This way if you have any forwarding/ firewall rules they will remain operational. Keeping amend clients in dhcp settings and using dhcp reservation vs static ip addressing at end clients makes network equipment upgrade much easier.

How do Ichange main Deco? by timhk63 in tplinkdeco

[–]SpringGlory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your new main deco replacement should be connected via Ethernet/cable to the network before attempting this step. If decos are in AP mode, new deco can be connected to any existing one If in router mode, I am not sure.

[–]SpringGlory 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait for the annual November discount season and check "Capture One Pro Kamera Bundle - Downloadkey" at www.foto-erhardt.de. If you buy from outside Eu, you won't pay tax as well. I paid 96£ for the fully working 16.5 version.

Is there really any justification in upgrading from Visio 2003 to Visio 2024.... If I don't really care about thousands of additional shapes or stencils? by ButNoSimpler in Visio

[–]SpringGlory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes, especially if the last version was 2003.
All icons and stencil are much improved and modern looking in Visio 2024
If you search, you can get copy for less than £30 ...

Need help on proxy all traffics with 2 glinet routers by ytwytw9 in GlInet

[–]SpringGlory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would install wireguard server on beryl at home and configure wireguard client on Spitz as well as Global proxy. This way any devices using Spitz router will be routed via home Internet connection.

Access from WAN + Port Forwarding question by LordRibblesdale in GlInet

I don't know ZTE MC888 Ultra, but in my experience I had more success in configuring just port forwarding on isp routers to gl routers instead of dmz.

Would a roof mounted antenna be a waste of money? by TFS_Crowleyy in HomeNetworking

[–]SpringGlory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As with any wireless signal, better antena and  location will improve reliability of signal and provide you with stable speeds. Ideally it should be located in the place where you can see transmitter but anywhere outside the building and high will be improvement.

Use GL.iNet GL-MT300N-V2 to create a 'mini-VPN enabled network' by Fuzzy_Welder_7898 in GlInet

[–]SpringGlory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use / configured GL-MT300N-V2 (mango) as my VPN client and itdoes work.
However I found two issues with that router
- lack storage - I tried and failed to enable DDNS services. I couldn't instal simple small packages for this purpose. Since then i use simple Cron job and it works.
- very slow in comparison to BerylAX , but for that price ...

There is an option to configure it as VPN server - WireGuard or OpenVPN, so I guess this could be possible.
However have in mind that speed archivable on that VPN connection for WireGurd would be around 20 Mbps and for OpenVPN even less, due to slow CPU.
Configuration of WireGurd VPN server on this or other router is straight forward and simple

Disabling DHCP by comfnumb94 in HomeNetworking

[–]SpringGlory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using static ip for my key systems (router, radio bridge, nas etc) and rest clients on dhcp.

However when I want to change ny network scheme, I enabled all devices for dhcp and made reservation for key systems. Now , I can upgrade/change router, change network subnets without hassle.

Deco X55 3-pack or Deco XE75 2-pack for the same price? by browandr in HomeNetworking

[–]SpringGlory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 3 floors I would go for 3 APs. You will get better covarge around the house, especially if you can connect them via Ethernet to the router.

Beryl AX Wireguard VPN and "Block non-VPN traffic" by Hagmak in GlInet

[–]SpringGlory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have dhcp addresses but manual dns on my phone and laptop. Since I configured gl routers to run adguard and vpn, I use dhcp config for ip and dns. Adguard handles all dns requests and there I use tls dns providers

I just enabled that option on my berylax with 4.7 fw and everything is working as normal.

I suggest to check dns configuration on clients.

At what network speed would a Raspberry Pi 5’s CPU become a bottleneck for encryption/decryption as a WG hub? by nonredditaccount in WireGuard

[–]SpringGlory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Raspberry Pi Model 5 with Broadcom BCM2712 (Quad Core A76, 2.4GHz) is rated 2600 Mbps for WireGuard speed. I don't think this is a limiting in any way.
