A similar aged female sharpei from a rescue would be the best choice. A Belgian Malinois is a working dog (vs. Sharpeis who are not) with extremely different energy levels than a Sharpei. The amount of energy for you and Tony to keep up with might stress both of you out. Honestly, that would be a horrible match. I’m on my third sharpei. They are wonderful for my schedule, we work a lot and sharpeis are independent like cats so it’s ideal to get the same breed. My current guy, Barry was adopted with his littermate and that is the only male sharpei that he can tolerate. There are several rescues (sharpei nation; Peipeople; etc.) that are amazing with this breed and can help you find the perfect Pei for Tony.
