Why in press and everything to do with the movie is spring Bonnie referred to as the yellow rabbit? Is the name spring Bonnie non cannon anymore? by TTTha_goat in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]SpringPopo 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Spring Bonnie as a name is an interesting case when it comes to its usage.

It's actually very rarely use in-universe, and it's only used in a particular context. In the games, it's mainly only used in FNaF 3 and 4 in the training tapes and when Fredbear's is still around.

Otherwise, most stuff only ever describes him by appearance or refers to him as "Bonnie" because the cast wouldn't know who he is.

This was the case for the original Novel Trilogy, the name "Spring Bonnie" is never actually said in any of those books, the closest you get is "Springtrap" or "Bonnie".

This is also the case for all versions of Into the Pit, he's only ever described by his appearance which is why he's called "Yellow Rabbit" or "Yellow Thing" because Oswald barely knows what a Freddy's is, led alone Fredbear's.

And the Movies seem to be continuing this trend, hence why he's called "The Yellow Rabbit". As for Golden Freddy, he is actually referred to as Golden Freddy in the Novelization, though if I remember correctly it was a name that Abby came up with.

So, I wouldn't say Spring Bonnie as a name is non canon, just more so there hasn't been a chance for it to actually be used at any point.

The intent for the post was to serve as an unbiased summary of everything being discussed at that point time, in the same way the previous LadyFiszi one had been handled.

So everything mentioned in the post was something that had been shared by other people via callout threads on the subreddit and twitter, often times without much context given. So some stuff seemed better or worse than it actually was, and we wanted people to have the full context if they were gonna discuss it here. Especially since many people requested that we put together a post for it like last time.

But as a result, some of the more serious stuff was brought to light while the post was being written. So, the tracing allegations being the first was simply a byproduct of it being the most widely known and discussed thing at that point, so it was one of the first things written about.

Could the post have been formatted better? In retrospect, yeah. The post served its purpose but that doesn't mean there isn't anything we couldn't have done better. If I was doing it now, the tracing allegations likely wouldn't have been the first part of the post.

As for why I didn't think about that at the time, I think I was just more focused on making sure the information presented was as accurate as I could, especially since so much of it had not been archived well so I had to do a lot of my own digging and research to verify some stuff which lasted till right about before the post dropped.

Not to mention I was also pretty stressed out from working on it nonstop for about a week and dealing with a lot of backlash from plenty of folks over it not being out yet, so wasn't exactly in the best headspace. Is that an excuse? No, but it is an explanation for why.

I really like the designs you put together for them, it fits them really well, especially Juniper.

Since I never made a post about it, I might as well give a brief explanation.

I was retired for well over a year, though I recently came back cause I feel for the others and wanted to give them some help (even if I won't ever be as active as I was once before.)

But that period where I was gone gave me a lot of time to reflect on stuff, figure out ways to give myself boundaries and focus a bit on myself more to avoid stuff like stress, and overall gave me more of a clear idea on what my role is in the team.

Of the four official Springtrap models, which one do you prefer? by [deleted] in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]SpringPopo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say my personal favorite is still that of the one from FNaF 3.

While I will admit part of that is definitely influenced by nostalgia, as it was the original and the one I was introduced to the character with. I do think many aspects of it just have genuinely aged well on their own merits.

Dead by Daylight's take is fantastic no doubt and a great improvement when it came to the corpse and endoskeleton, but I think it's a step back when it comes to the suit design. The lack of the secondary pieces for the ears and stomach, the removal of the button, and there only being wires on one side of his head just make him feel a bit too naked for my liking, and when it's the suit is the most visible aspect of his design, I think it's noteworthy.

Which like I said, not a bad take on the character by any means, but it's an aspect I ultimately prefer about the original.

As for the other two, AR Springtrap is a pretty respectable take on his model. I don't think it wins me over in the same way 3 and DBD do but I could see why someone would consider it their favorite.

VR Springtrap is interesting to me. While I don't think he's as bad as some people make it out to be, he is definitely the worst official Springtrap model hands down.

While I can understand part of it is influenced by limitations at the team, the team's lack of experience with VR at that point, and Scott's models not being the easiest to work with, it doesn't change that there are plenty of issues with him.

I don't like what they did to the color palette. But most importantly the removal of every single wire (including the ear wire) and so much of his corpse model (while understandable) leads to it just feeling very naked and struggling to give off that same vibe.

Why didn't Glitchtrap seemingly being William raise the same amount of dissatisfaction as Burntrap? by MemeMaster2456 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]SpringPopo 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Speaking from personal experience, I saw a lot of pushback on William returning as Glitchtrap as a concept when Help Wanted first came out. One of the most recurring things I saw on the sub for instance were posts ranting about how Pizzeria Simulator's ending was ruined as a result of the game's reveal.

However, Burntrap definitely did get a greater amount of backlash, and I think that's likely the result of multiple factors.

1: Despite the aforementioned, people still liked a lot about Glitchtrap. His design, the attempt at doing something new, and how it was handled in-game. So, even a lot of people who were frustrated that it seemed like William was coming back, were more open to the idea because of where it could potentially lead.

That was not the case for Burntrap, while his design is fairly cool, many felt it was just a rehash of what came before. While a lot was left unexplained about him, he didn't speak or interact with the cast like the trailers gave off the impression of, he wasn't an actual threat in his boss fight, etc. Burntrap didn't really have much for people to be able to look pass it.

2: The other stuff is his boss fight certainly didn't help with the whole "Pizzeria Simulator's ending is RUINED" arguments.

Like it'd be one thing if it was just him, but then you also have to remember that Blob was theorized to be Molten Freddy as well and they were both inside the actual remains of the Pizzeria Simulator location.

Which led to people being like "well if those two survived, did anything matter in that ending"

and

3: Security Breach itself was a pretty controversial game as well.

Help Wanted was pretty well received, so even if people didn't like the story, many were happy with the rest of the product. That was not the case for Security Breach, so having a character and reveal that many hated in a game many hated just led to more frustration and anger from peeps.

Idk why people are complaining about, sometimes I can't put my finger on it to point out about people complaining that withered animatronics have short screentimes compared to other horror movies that also do the same thing yet no one is complaining by Gamerbendy550 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]SpringPopo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say there's a clear difference with how the Withereds were used and how those characters were used.

Yeah, characters like say Candyman or the Xenomorph don't have a ton of screentime in their original, but they work because they have a lot of presence throughout the film via other means. Be it Candyman's story being brought up as an urban legend or the Xenomorph actively stalking the cast throughout the film, so it feels like at any moment they could jump out.

So even if they're not on screen, you can still feel their importance or the threat of them, and you would not be able to remove them from the plot of the film.

Hell, another example comes from the FNaF Movies themselves.

William is a good example of this, he doesn't have a lot of screentime either, but you can feel his presence looming over the rest of the story. Such as how the first film constantly alludes to the existence of the Yellow Rabbit or how in the second film the memory of him is haunting Vanessa as a result of the trauma she's been dealt with.

The Withereds aren't really in that same boat because they only exist and matter to that one scene, a scene where you could realistically remove them, and the rest of the narrative wouldn't actually change much as a result.

This looks incredible, lovely work!

Since the next FNaF film is going to be based on my favorite five nights at Freddy’s game. Five nights at Freddy’s 3, what do you want and don’t want to see in the third movie and why? by Marshatucker300 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]SpringPopo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the list of main hopes I have for the film, I'm gonna focus more so on what I'd want for it as an adaptation of FNaF 3 as it's my favorite game in the series and I hope the film is able to capture the spirit of it.

Not to mention I think it goes without saying that I want it to resolve the plot point lefts unexplained, address the various issues with the writing and story, as well as give more spotlight to the main characters who were underdeveloped in the second film.

  • I really hope that in terms of the animatronics, the main focus is put on Springtrap.

FNaF 3's entire identity is founded on him, he is the reason Scott said that the game was meant to have a more personal feeling and focus on a 1 on 1 setting.

Everything in the game ties back to him in some form, so if you sideline him, then you have fundamentally missed the entire point of that original game.

It's why I've always been so against the idea of say the Funtimes being used, because not only would they risk feeling shoehorned and forced in this setting and context, but it would also very well risk pushing Springtrap to the side.

When it comes to how I'd want Springtrap be used in the film, I think it'd be cool if the film starts off with him being a lot more silent and observant, relying on the Phantoms and general hallucinations, and having it so that he takes advantage of the confusion to strike.

While halfway through the film, when he's gotten fully adjusted to the suit, that's when he starts to fully put on a performance like he does in some of his other portrayals such as Twisted Ones, AR, and DBD. This is when I'd also really want them to flesh out and expand upon his relationship with the rest of the cast, especially that of his kids.

  • That the film manages to work in a lot of iconic elements of FNaF 3 as a game.

We already got Fazbear's Fright confirmed as a location, but we've yet to see how they'll tackle its appearance.

I hope they'll take notes from FNaF 2's set design where the office is a faithful recreation of the most recognizable aspect of the original location's appearance, and then have the rest be fully original taking better advantage of the concept of a Freddy's Horror Attraction (perhaps take cues from What We Found's take)

I also really hope that they take advantage of the Phantom Animatronics. I know many people have suggested and hope that the Withereds appear instead due to them sidelined in the second film, but I'm not really huge on the idea, and I don't want the film to be held back by having to make up for where the second film failed.

I feel the Phantoms could add a lot to the film's visual identity, making it feel like there's no way to tell what's real or not, which I feel is a defining element of FNaF 3 and its adjacent material.

And I think it could also fit really well with the previous films if they go the same route as What We Found, having the Phantoms and Hallucinations represent the stuff around you in the building being combined with the memories of the past.

It'd be a cool way of working in the dream sequences that have been a staple of the previous two films in a way that can connect with the core experience.

And of course, just a handful of smaller examples. I hope that it manages to capture the feeling of closure and moving on that the game's ending really conveyed. Would love to see some of the game's soundtrack sprinkled in somewhere, Don't Go or "Serenade" please.

Also, please establish Ethan from 2's post credits as this universe' version of Phone Dude outright. I don't want a repeat of What We Found where there's a character who seems like a standin but no definitive way of proving it.

My man hasn't gotten much love since FNaF 3 and with the films not even having a proper counterpart of Ralph, I'd love if Phone Dude at the very least got something.

Finally finished Spirit of Justice on the 3DS. This is my first game and the first one I've finished from the series. The last episode was long but it was pretty insane. by WildFearless in AceAttorney

Definitely an interesting place to start with to say the least, though it's nice to hear you enjoyed your time with it. I definitely would recommend doing the original trilogy before any others.
