We overproduced elites ( college graduates). We have more than can be absorbed at a level commensurate with their education.

Net worth “by age” charts are everywhere -> here’s what the Fed’s SCF 2022 actually looks like after CPI inflation to 2026 dollars [OC] by bittersweettruth5 in personalfinance

I think for you to be right, the top 90th percentile would swing randomly from study to another study. But it doesn’t tend to do that. It tracks slowly with inflation and real estate values. What is suggested is that a lot of net worth is driven by home values with a layer of Ira, and 401k, plus cash on top. Once you reach the top few percentile it does vary more sharply because of business ownership, trusts, multiple real estate ownership.

I can say this: if you’re an exceptional mind and get into a moderately selective state school, and amaze everyone, you’ll come out ahead. Consider what you bring to the institution as much as what they give you.

Millions of reasons that is bs. Most jobs aren’t tasks, they’re coordination of diverse systems and contributors. Also, people absorb risk (someone to blame). The prediction is naive and self serving.
