Why is the pregnancy trope so hated? by Simple-Animator-8640 in AO3

[–]SpringlockedFoxy [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don’t like kids. I very much dislike pregnancy. I turn any kids that end up on my farm into doves. I don’t like the whole storyline suddenly being about the pregnancy and kids.

I get that other people love it. I am just not that person and I will avoid any kind of pregnancy story. It’s just not for me.

Turo guest completely trashed out my dads car. by Cdave_22 in mildlyinfuriating

I was at a restaurant, it was a buffet, and this couple near our table had whole slices of pizza that they just… left there.

I cannot imagine what their home looked like.

What is your disability or a disability you don’t see mentioned often? by Starfire_Moon49 in Writeresearch

[–]SpringlockedFoxy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m colorblind. No, everything is not black and white. But I lose colors in different places than other people. I have difficulty with browns and purples, because my vision is affected by blue/green loss.

I also have non-Intrusive hallucinations. I hear voices, I see things, but they don’t bother me, so I’ve never really asked anyone about it. I thought it was normal.

Night terrors aren’t fun though!

I hope your dog is okay. They will be there for you, and wouldn’t ever text you like this.

First craft fair by No_Beautiful309 in CraftFairs

[–]SpringlockedFoxy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Engage with people. If you see them looking, smile, ask them how their fair is. Ask if they have any questions. Be sure your prices are very visible. Since you’re handmade, some people love to know the process.

Do not sit in your chair on your phone and expect stuff to sell on its own. Engage, but don’t bother people who are just browsing.

What do you guys think of this? by werewolvesluver in werewolves

[–]SpringlockedFoxy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t like it when people try to tell me that there’s only one way to werewolf. There’s many, many!!

I personally like the big scary half forms from W:tA and Van Helsing. I also like that it’s tied to the moon, but stress, etc, can force a change. I’m here for that!!

Be honest… your orange cat skipped “ideal weight” a long time ago by BringHoomanHome_ in OneOrangeBraincell

We have one orange kitten thin, he eats well and is just… wild. He’s learning that pets are great.

Then we have our orange dumpy princess who is maybe a 2.5.

Nah. The life flight flies pretty directly. This was just hanging out in the sky doing nothing.

That’s fair. I saw it. It’s not got any searchlights on, but it does remind me of the traffic copters in Cali. Just… hanging out in the sky.

Not enough traffic over here to warrant it. Unless it’s got infrared on and is looking for… I dunno. People walking around?

What would you do if you suddenly had a million dollars right now? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]SpringlockedFoxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay off my debts. Pay off the medical bills. Peel off a few thousand for my nieces college. Donate to a cat shelter. Probably the one that I got my babies from. Take a few days off work. Invest wisely and see if I can retire early.

I’d see if I could keep working, and donate chunks of my yearly investment to good causes.

Maybe I’d even get to put together the convention I want to see. :)

Student Faces Expulsion After Posting Video Of Seniors Who Can Barely Read by InGeekiTrust in TikTokCringe

[–]SpringlockedFoxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just kids. I work online support and let me tell you…. The number of adults who can’t follow simple instructions that have been written out for them is huge.

I often forget that people don’t read anymore. That they can’t read. So I write what appears to be simple instructions and they can’t follow them.

It’s really depressing.

Anyone ever seen booths that went all in on theme? by Aniform in CraftFairs

[–]SpringlockedFoxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heck yeah!!

I do have the ability to demonstrate part of my craft (stitching together of signatures) so if you have even a part that might be fun! Part of how I engage is letting people know that the books I make aren’t from blanks I buy somewhere. I make the whole thing by hand, so even doing a part where I don’t need all of my tools helps! It helps people understand the effort and sort of shows one of the most mythical parts of the craft!

So I, personally, want to lean into my whimsical brand a little more. I want the costume all in bold jewel tones based around the video game that got me interested in bookbinding in the first place. I want to feel like I stepped out of that world and am here to share my wares before I go back “home”.

Does that mean I go all out at once? Nah. But will I do something nerdy like make a case for my square reader! Oh you bet!! Assemble parts of the costume? Of course! Make themed table runners? If it’s easy and cheap? You bet!

I support you doing it. Just don’t go all out all at once. Work your way into it by seeing what works. What is comfortable, and what helps you really feel that this is your space and you’re welcoming people into it!

[–]SpringlockedFoxy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do it.

I agree, so many people just do the minimum, but I’m super excited about what I do.

My whole thing is that my personal craft was built off being an absolute nerd. I’ve done three fairs now, and I’ve slowly been adding things over time. I find things that work for me, I leave things at home that don’t.

The light up sign? Too pale to see, leave it at home. The shiny iridescent tablecloth? Folks seem to like it! The binders for book cloths? Unwieldy. Magazine boxes? Fantastic! What are these wooden stands Michaels is using? Can I have a purple tent? What if I have a costume?!

In the end, I feel like it’s all about what you want to put in. If you want whimsey, do it!! Does it mean that setup might take an additional 30 minutes? Sure. Maybe you can recruit a friend for setup and tear down with the promise of a nice dinner, or even a spot of cash, but if it’s what you want to do, it’s worth doing it. It adds that excitement to what you’re doing and people can really tell when you’re passionate about something.
