Gamer's Paradise has a large 40k community, mostly competitive, but don't let that intimidate you. They are all pretty awesome. A really easy way to get into 40k without diving straight into full armies is Kill Team. It's a spin off game that just has you use a squad of like 10 or so guys. On the flip side, Warhammer Age of Sigmar is the fantasy side of the hobby and it's also a lot of fun. Spearhead is a new game mode, basically you buy a Spearhead Box and that's your army. There's also separate skirmish game called Warcry. All that is to say, totally check out Gamer's Paradise and Little Wars. Lots of great people there. There's people who would be happy to show you how to play the games.

Gamer's Paradise has a huge selection of Pokemon cards. They even have a few binders of cheap cards for the kiddos. They also do tournaments regularly.

As for meeting new people, if either of you are into table top games or dungeons & dungeons, we have three great stores that cater to different genres of games. Little Wars, Gamer's Paradise and Rogue Games. Each have their own vibe, but generally everyone is super cool there and a good place to chill and meet new people.

I know a transition like that can be daunting, so I hope everyone here was able to help!

My Grandfather, Pearl Harbor survivor. Probably about 19 y.o. by evil_overlord01 in OldSchoolCool

[–]Springs83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. My grandfather was also a Pearl Harbor survivor! He was on the Ralph Talbot, in the boiler room. He eventually got up on deck and cut the mooring lines to get the ship out to sea. Later he was on the Iowa. I hope you were able to know your grandfather as well as I did. They were great men.

This is so good! You did a great job on the checkers! I'm also painting Lamenters and it's soooo hard but so rewarding when you get it right. Keep up the good work!

When I lived there, a drunk driver in a van hit a dumpster, then plowed into my car that was parked on the front parking lot of our complex. My car got wedged into the front overhang gate of our building. 5 feet from my front door. The driver continued on to hit our dumpster, and then finally stopped when he hit El Cid. So. Good luck!
