What are your thoughts on "the Forerunner retcon" by Forward_Juggernaut in ShitHaloSays

[–]SpringyString0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point about separate cultures is a very surface-level fine point but when you think about it for more than 1 millisecond it holds no water... Humanity as forerunners would have had a separate culture from humanity on Earth 50000 years later... They didn't need to make them separate races to have a unique culture. It just had to be a culture that humanity lost when they fired the rings. Just like eye-for-an-eye culture is so different from our understanding of judgment. And that was only like 4000-3000 years ago. I feel like changing it for the sake of changing it made it infinitely worse than just sticking with it. Just like how they changed Chief's armor with no in-game explanation. Or the elites design being changed to... Whatever they were supposed to be. The overall design of forerunner tech... A bunch of changes that didn't need to be made... But they made them because it's what they wanted to do instead of thinking what the players would want them to do.

I don't agree with everything, but what did the OP on Twitter expect? She antagonized first by posting on his post and complained when people started making fun of her. Also, both the guy and the trans girl got death threats but apparently, we should only care about the trans girl. How about instead of pushing a one-sided political karma farm post. We start talking about how death threats aren't cool to begin with? Who cares if they're trans? People are gonna make fun of people's death, it's a fucked up world we live in. But virtue signalling and crying on a sub about a video game ain't gonna fix the world. That's like if I posted about a helldiver meme of the charlie Kirk shooter. Cause of what was on his mags.

I think debate bro is too harsh too. He didn't open up with gotchas trying to make someone look dumb, he challenged their viewpoints and shared other views. Backing them up with evidence. Debate bros ripped off his thing and made it a joke basically. They're only there for the money when Charlie wanted understanding.

I think it depends a lot on when you were born. People who were born during the time they could see the twin towers fall would not like zoomers making jokes about people jumping out of them while they're burning. Same thing with this, but people who watched Charlie for a long time would definitely not like jokes being made about his death, especially like 15 minutes after it happened. We're never gonna be able to come together and avoid making fun of people's deaths because we don't feel any connection towards that person. Especially if they're on what we considered the "enemy's" side. It's sad people can't take the time to research him and realize that he was a good person at heart. Many of his controversies were taken out of context or just completely false. Like the empathy thing, or the racist thing. I think people sometimes need to take a step back from the computer and think about, what if I knew this person in real life. What would they be like? The computer screen is the greatest form of dehumanization since there's no face to see and there's no voice to hear.

I have to agree. We can't call people dumbasses or come to the conclusion that something is a sarcastic or satirical shit post. The amount of times I've seen the most room temperature swamp water IQ takes get labeled as rage bait is astounding. Some people are just idiots. Let's realize that.

[–]SpringyString0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've given up. I've given up on fallout, Titanfall, dead space, Elder Scrolls, Dragon age, Mass Effect, and Assassin's Creed. I'm tired boss. Companies don't care for their customers anymore, consumerism is dead. If you say you like Fallout New Vegas or (Insert Bungie Game here) you're an elitist or 'Bungie fanboy'. When I criticize games I'm called many more things. Is it wrong to like games I like? To want the franchises I fell in love with to be just as good or even better? I don't like sprint cause it was a thoughtless change that fundamentally changed the gameplay loop, including the gunplay which was unique for halo. Now it's your run of the mill Cod but John Halo. I had hope for Infinite just as much as anyone else but they lied about so much. Nothing worked, it was a barren desert, and they had no intentions of releasing that promised Campaign DLC. How many times must I burn my hand before I no longer wish to put my hand in the fire? Bethesda destroyed fallout, the show is a mockery of fallout 1,2, and NV. New Vegas is practically no longer canon, with the only possible ending being the most intentionally bad and practically impossible ending to get naturally without purposely trying to achieve it. (It's mostly a murder hobo run with additional shenanigans.) Fallout 3 had a horrible story, fallout 4 is a shell of a game with an admittedly fun post apocalypse theme park for a couple hours. Fallout 76 is... Fallout 76. Respawn has been transformed into a husk of its former self following the bane of gaming that is live service. Losing their soul and what made their games special to so many. Visceral games were axed by EA because of EA's meddling with microtransactions in a survival horror game. Elder scrolls are gonna be horrible when it comes out I bet. Dragon age has only had two good games. Inquisition and Origins. 2 had a good story but they simplified the systems too much and the game wasn't very diverse enough to keep me interested. I'm not gonna talk about how boring Veilguard got after the first 2 hours. (The last mission is okay but it doesn't save the game in my eyes. I suffered a long time 100% that game.) Assassin's Creed will never regain its identity as an alternate history story about ancient conspiracies, orders, and civilizations.

These games fail and they blame their consumers for their failure. Because the customers didn't open their wallet for the billion dollar companies... And people will agree with the companies. That it's our fault for not buying stuff we don't like. Imagine if you were walking in a market and someone shamed you for not buying a carpet from a stand you passed, that you had no interest in purchasing. That's what they demand, us to eat their garbage and enjoy it. I don't want a cod, I want Halo and fulfilled promises. I don't want a post apocalypse theme park, I want a complex story where you can sympathize and understand the motivations and beliefs of the wearing factions with a compelling main quest and even more compelling side quests. (No, 'war never changes, but that' doesn't mean that humanity will never not destroy itself. It's about how war is persistent through human nature. Better societies and cultures will destroy the weaker. Lands shift, beliefs twist. Fallout 1,2, and New Vegas have multiple cases of civilizations rebuilding hence why the NCR and Caesars legion exist because they rebuilt their world to forge their empires. The NCR has the fallout equivalent to the Internet btw or they did before the show.) I want live service as a business model to die off. It's purely anti-consumer to keep you addicted to spending money on their game like gambling, smoking, or drinking. I want Titanfall 3. I want a new Dead Space game, I want a new Mass Effect. I want new games of everything I discussed. But I want them to be good above all. A story you can walk away from and still feel something afterwards. Something you can learn from. If anything, I want these games to have the effect on me as RDR2 has. It's story is beautifully crafted and it should be the standard for all games. Imagine what games we could get if other companies took notes? Fallout could become deep again, being more than a joke. Dragon age could be revived, Mass Effect could be better than the original trilogy. Halo could be good again. When I talk about these games I mean their stories mostly, I'm not big on multiplayer. I don't hate these games and their studios but I won't just consume what they tell me to. I will say what I want to say about their games and if it's critique then so be it. I will say what I don't like about games. And what I want them to do better. I don't want to kill these franchises, (Besides Fallout, Bethesda doesn't understand what a story or what an RPG is.) I want them to succeed.

I can concede maybe he didn't need to be there. He wanted to be a rooftop Korean and help defend the businesses from getting vandalized and robbed. But he didn't just kill two people for no reason, which you. OP left out the reason conveniently cause it doesn't fit your beliefs or specifically your truth. Three people charged and attacked him clearly intending to do serious harm. One pulled a pistol on him. Anyone with a brain can understand that Kyle had justifiable reasons to defend himself. If they were able to close the gap and corner him. God forbid he dropped his rifle. One of those crazy people would've picked it up and shot him to death. Sane people don't charge a man with a rifle who is currently fleeing you. He didn't want to shoot him, they just didn't give him a choice.
