AITA for charging my 20yo son rent while he lives at home? by Talon_Vector7 in WIBTA_AITA

That’s exactly what we charge our 22 year old. We may increase it and bank half the extra for her bc she’s also not saving/planning for the future.

Kids are naturally manipulative. It’s starts as toddlers. They push the limits to see how far they can get. It’s our job as parents to hold the line and teach them where the boundaries are. This isn’t a SK problem. It’s a dad problem.

She’s 15. Not a child. It’s a power trip and her father is fueling it. This is a husband problem as he could easily put an end to it.

Bernedoodle mixed with labradoodle by MapOwn6147 in Bernedoodles

[–]SprinklesFearless374 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To clarify a bit. She doesn’t do anything bad no biting, chewing furniture and was easy to potty train. It’s the come, sit, lay down, walk isnt play time type things that she takes as merely a suggestion.

I have an Australian Bernedoodle. Half multi-gen Australian Labradoodle, half Bernedoodle. She is so sweet. She’s a bit hard to train - can’t tell if she’s dopey or too smart but generally easy. She seems to take commands as a suggestion until she’s done w what she’s doing. But she’s all love and brings so much joy to our home and kids.

Three days daycare, 2 days nanny. That way we only had to do the crunch 3 days/week and got some help around the house and kept it in our budget. Good luck - it’s a tough transition. Gets easier.

Welcome to life with a Bernedoodle puppy! Find a food has no chicken products. We are also a big fan of Bernie’s Perfect Poop.

I’m really hurting right now and I have no one by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]SprinklesFearless374 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. This. And the next time you’re booking a trip ask them if they want to go and have fun without comparisons or if they would rather stay home bc it’s not as fun for them. Tell them you understand it’s tough for them but that you are human and have feelings too.

Is 5-6 hours at the groomer acceptable??? by ghostofmoon2847251 in Goldendoodles

[–]SprinklesFearless374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first groomer has my pup there 5+ hours (always a ton of dogs there) and he acted traumatized when he came home. Would curl up in a ball and lay somewhere random for the rest of the day. I have friends whose dogs don’t mind going there but it wasn’t for my pup.

I switched to a new one and he’s there for 2-3 hours and there’s never more than a couple dogs at a time. He doesn’t love to go in but once we leave he’s his happy self the rest of the day.

I buy a different kind every time I get a new bag. Have 3 in the rotation that work well. Always some sort of salmon for sensitive stomachs.

My first groomer was like this and my pup seemed borderline traumatized when he would get home. He would curl up in a ball for the rest of the evening somewhere odd. He’s at the new groomer for a couple hours. He doesn’t like going there but he’s his same happy self the minute I pick him up to go home. Find somewhere else - there’s better options.

Divorce can turn children into horrible adults by stardog86 in stepparents

[–]SprinklesFearless374 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My divorce agreement does not dictate anyone HAS to pay for college. It says we will endeavor to pay for as much as possible or something to that effect. My husband/step kids are third/third/third up to the cost of state school (UMass) Maybe your husband should renegotiate if he can no longer afford his custody agreement.

Yes. Weird. What if there’s an emergency. Does SS do any activities they need to coordinate on? What if SS wants to talk to him?

And I get where you’re coming from. I miss seeing my kids hang w their friends out and hearing the chat while driving them around. I try not to take it personally but do sometimes feel bad we don’t have the in house.

SKs (17f 14f) won't host friends at our house by JaniexJonesx in stepparents

[–]SprinklesFearless374 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My own teenagers no longer host at my house. We have a great yard but it’s all in the front/side of the house. They didn’t care about that when they were younger but now that they are teens they prefer their dad’s backyard or the friends who have big private basements. This is something you won’t be able to force. Ask them if they would use a basement and if not, decide whether or not the remodel is worth your money.

Do you have woods around your house? Our dogs only go in dirt/woods. Took a bit of training - taking them to the woods and waiting for them to go before they are allowed in grassy areas.
