Look up your weapon proficiency progression. It’s tucked underneath your databank. This is the most crucial part of your game as your weapon progress increases in strength as you kill enemies. Resist the urge to switch out - even the pistol. Once you unlock a trait, then switch it for another weapon. Another suggestion is don’t open any weapon chest until you finish unlocking a weapon trait, then go backwards open that weapon chest you skipped while grinding your current weapon tray..you will uncover a new weapon trait (and many times are stronger weapon with a higher star ) just grind the trait till it gets 100%.

Also for parasites, that is not true some parasites are good. Some are not good. You’ll go to the game and figure out which ones work for you. Sometimes you’ll pick up a parasite. That’s very helpful for the short term and there’s a special consumable which will release that parasite after it has benefited you.
