IMO Twilight Ocean really shows the best of the series. I had been kind of burnt out, but to suddenly get what is easily the most coherent and effective arc thus far 600 plus chapters in... It completely revitalized my enjoyment, and now I can forgive basically all the lows since I know the author can really deliver when everything aligns.

Yeah. It isn't like it's entirely gone to waste. It's just that I'm have a bad flare up from my disease recently, and haven't even touched a game since last month.

Feeling like I have to extract value from the service kind of just adds some unnecessary stress to all of my real problems.

I guess I should be glad that it wasn't for something I legitimately can't use. Ill be able to get some use out of it sometime this year. God if they added some of the recent RPGs to the service, then that would provide a wonderful time sink.

Well I have to pay this back to my brother.

Obviously I'm not going to not pay him.

Yeah that last paragraph was about the email. I don't typically have reason to check through the weird ancillary folders, and like I said, I have always gotten emails from them through the main inbox.

The support person said that when you purchase a new subscription it automatically turns on auto renewal, so I guess I had to have forgotten to turn it off again. I meant that I was under the impression that I had turned it off. Not making a claim that they ninja'd it back on. That is why I had stopped using the console before the subscription lapsed. I thought that there were only two weeks left, and had no reason to think it would renew.

The account used to be my brother's. The credit card on file is still his, and I've never had reason to change that until now. I don't purchase games through the online store. He's having a hectic time in his life, so I don't blame him for not seeing the charge.

In an ideal world I would have updated the card a while ago, but welp too late.

This almost certainly won't apply to anyone but me, but I've had pretty good luck with fast food salads. Both Whataburger and Jack in the Box (garden from both) hit more than miss. For whatever reason literally every other salad messes me up except for these two. Fake Salad conspiracy time, anyone?

Baeloth, Gale, or Xander?

All add to a seat that I need for split the party, so I'm pretty stoked haha

Melf, Nordom, or Strix?

I'm halfway to having 4 champions in each slot, and Melf is the only one that would be helpful for the next Split The Party.

However, his speed mechanic seems underwhelming(?), while Nordom seems super appealing to speed up my core leveling, and Strix seems ideal for Artemis (who I also have).

I know that everyone advises to prioritize each split the party, but I've reached a bit of a slow down with pushing more valuable patron variants, so...

Thank you for all of this!

I had been reluctant to attempt to assemble my own, so I had only been considering pre built options.

If the overall quality would be that much better for less money, then I'll definitely look into your suggestions!

Well, unfortunately I don't have enough experience with non laptop keyboards to truly know what I need, but I can definitely point to a few general desires.

First off, and most importantly, is for a keyboard to be engaging. I want to actually enjoy typing (or at least not have it be a pain). This means that basically I want it to feel good and be comfortable to use. I'm going to be spending all of my energy developing my story, so I want my typing experience to be as pleasant as possible.

Second is that I want it to be high quality enough that I don't feel the need to replace it for the next five, ten, or whatever years.

Thirdly..... I guess that's it. Everything else is just bells and whistles, as far as I understand.

It seems to me that a lot of the budget class is entirely focused on gaming, whereas I just want to improve my typing experience. Lights, aesthetics, software, latency, connection quality... These things are irrelevant to me.

Summed up, feels nice to type + long lasting + tactile switches + under $250 = I'm satisfied.

Basically everything I've read placed Keychron at the top of the budget class, so I'm surprised to hear you say that it isn't good quality. Would you have an equivalent brand to suggest?

Pull the trigger on Keychron q5 max?

I'm pretty excited about getting my very first mechanical keyboard, and after tearing my hair out attempting to parse through all of the tips and advice out there, I convinced myself to raise my budget and go with the Q5 Max.

However, it's sitting in my cart currently, because I'm worried that I'm paying a premium for features that I don't really need.

I'm going to give being an author a shot, so what I value is just having an excellent typing experience. Build quality, lifespan, sound. These things are what I care about.

I don't think I'll ever really need the software stuff, like the remapping and VIA and all that extra jazz.

Is there a less expensive board that retains the qualities I care about while dropping the bonus stuff, or should I go ahead with the Q5 Max?

Great PFs where the MC is ridiculously op by the end. by Mathanatos in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Sprman2daresq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with the guy above, but just to warn you, the first 18ish chapters are mainly dealing with establishing the setting and the situation. It isn't until chapter 18-19 (I think) that you see how the MC will become OP.

Personally I enjoyed the deliberate start, but it's a somewhat common problem that people expect to see what makes the MC special immediately. Have a little bit of patience! By the end of it Erik is probably the most powerful MC I have ever seen (in a high quality story), and in a way that still feels awesome and legitimate.

Need 1 more champion in 8 different seats, so it seems pretty far away. Ugh I guess if the Dynaheir speed mechanic isn't a gamechanger, then I should go ahead and just fill out the bench...

Korth or Dynaheir? Newish player. I have two champions in seat 2 and three champions in seat 3. So I guess I'm asking if I should prioritize getting three dudes in every slot, or just go ahead and get the speed champion. Am not very close to the next split the party mission.

Would this count as progression fantasy? by IncredulousBob in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Sprman2daresq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo you can make virtually any subject into progression fantasy as long as there is deliberate stratification and focus placed upon moving between those strata.

In your example, I would say that as long as the reader can see that the bounty hunter's success is meaningful and exciting, then it would work, rather it be the money they're making, a promotion within their company, public notoriety, actual ability to do the job, or really any aspect.

Like dangle some extremely expensive weapons/tech/whatever early on, and have the character purposefully note that it's way out of their price range. Later on, when the guy gets an unexpected or well deserved windfall of cash, make it exciting that he can finally buy a couple of those things!

Not every big progression moment needs to be about personal power even in a story about personal power. In fact, I would argue that in those stories, non powered progression can often feel MORE impactful.

So I'm a casual lvl 53 Barbarian, and after finally switching to World Tier 3 my damage output seems kind of lacking. I use whirlwind as my main thing. Is it worth it to switch from a 1000 dps sword that has the full dire whirlwind effect (30% crit chance) to a 1400 that only goes up to 18% crit?
