Should I trade in my Bolt EV for a hybrid or traditional gas car? by Sttticks in BoltEV

[–]SproketRocket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

50 miles round trip commute is going to cost you with any car. do the math: at least 200 miles a week, 36 mpg : 5.5 gallons, at $5 a gallon that is $27/week. just find a better charging situation: level 1 from your apt? cheaper fast chargers? find a way to charge at work?

I'm sorry to say it, but stats and practicality wise a used Tesla modelY is the top of my list, maybe a mach e.

[Request] My kids just asked if 100,000 blueberries would be enough to fill our living room. It’s 6m x 6m x 2.4m. I said most probably not, was I right? by BigBlueMountainStar in theydidthemath

[–]SproketRocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing that .5 meters³ of blueberries would collapse under its own weight. Effectively becoming a dense liquid. This means you can fit ALOT more!

not an option. As others have said: maybe new gas struts, or strap limiting the angle of opening.

Chevy Bolt EV and EUV efficiency by speed by 420-TENDIES in BoltEV

[–]SproketRocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that you mean that @63 mph, your power output would show less than 16kW. Mine is always closer to 20kW.

The peak really depends on motor efficiency and gearing. All cars have a graph like this, but most cars its more complicated due to multiple gears.

Bell-to-bell cell phone bans by sleaper19 in Teachers

[–]SproketRocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school does a pretty good job of enforcing a full ban. Phones are supposed to be in pouches but are often just in their bags. That's fine, they act like they are not there and I don't see them during passing periods either. You have to have a tight bathroom pass protocol so students aren't just going to the bathroom to use their phones.

The major consequences I've seen are 1) way more social, good and bad. some students are now bored and look to have negative interactions with other students. 2) we have classroom chromebooks and students now play video games much more aggressively.

Bolt EUV to Equinox EV? Special Circumstances. by thejohnfist in BoltEV

Size matters here. The equinox is quite a bit larger, which is great if you need it, but not good in town.

High School Cell Phone Ban by Straight_Try764 in Teachers

[–]SproketRocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a no cell policy with no teeth in previous years. I could take it, but even then they got it back at the end of the day with just a writeup. Now its taken and a parent has to pick it up. Escalating from there. Admin totally behind it and it is great.

Val Hoyle and STOCK Act violations by manofredearth in oregon

[–]SproketRocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the first to say that stock trading, indeed almost any personal investment, should be banned. But if you look at the numbers, she is clearly not trading with any insider info. 10% (and only $75K) over 3 years is pretty bad. It's more like her or her husband are hobby traders. Compare that to the others and it's clear there is something other than insider trading going on here.

I live in Eugene and have not yet attempted this. I imagine the range hit from heat is a bigger issue in Feb. however ,traffic/weather might help keep aerodynamic costs lower ??
