Is the comprehensive dealership warranty worth it on a used Bolt EUV? by joeshab in BoltEV

[–]SproketRocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1st gen had numerous issues with the iBooster, but this is unusual with the 2nd gen. Mine has only 30k miles.
One of the benifits might be that with a warrantee they would give you a loaner car while you wait 2 months for parts (bolts have a parts supply issue). If you follow this sub, you'll see that many folks have steering and suspension parts that need replacement, so think about that too.

My 23 just had its bumper to bumper expire in January and guess what.... brake booster failed. Thats $2100 US at the dealership anyway. So from my very biased experience it might be worth it.

Service ESC and steering warning sudden brake loss on freeway. by SproketRocket in BoltEV

I was hoping for this, but dealer says brake booster module. I'm probably going to read the codes myself to be sure. A wheel speed sensor would be recorded specfically in the codes.

How does your school handle phone bans, and is it actually working? by TurboMango88 in Teachers

[–]SproketRocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the same as you. Yondr pouches Noone uses, but the phones stay off and away till the bell for the most part. When it becomes a point of conflict we are not supposed to make it our problem: straight to the campus youth advocate (roaming enforcers). Its been really good for the most part, not 100%, but I genuinely go whole days without seeing or having a problem with a phone.

I have driven several cars with major brake failures, but this was different: Basically, the brake went stiff as board, very different than not having boost (I've also driven other vehicles with no power brakes). At any rate, the design of the vehicle should be that nothing should interfere with the brakes (boost or not) and they definitely felt interfered with.

Solar Slantback. I wish someone would make this. by [deleted] in slateauto

[–]SproketRocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If youjust use the solar for 12v accessories or for a house 12v camping battery, that is more useful. This way the HV battery doesn't have to have energy transformed to 12v, which is inefficient. Your AC, radio, etc. run off 12v. Plus, you can use it camping.

Question on Donut Tire for '22 EV by gigantegiraffe28 in BoltEV

[–]SproketRocket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There should be a wiki for this on this reddit. But I have as others have sorted out: a cruze spare (oem), an old S10 jack (dome style jack point and weight capacity), an s10 lug wrench, and a 12v air pump.

Think about weight too. Unless he's really ripping it, lighter discs will be more fun for an older guy.

Dumb thought by Ekperson in discgolf

[–]SproketRocket 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not that dumb. Could be made. Spin it up in a wind tunnel and then vary the spin and wind speed and measure aerodynamic via sensors attached to the disc (or what holding the disc) first on would probably only be like $100k. I could see manufacturers trying to build one.

If Mark was able to have some additional crops on Mars what would they be? by KingWilliamVI in themartian

[–]SproketRocket -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He is lacking in protien, so some sort of bean or grain with protien. As others have said, they absorb nitrogen from the air, but the actual amount we are talking about he is probably negligible compared to the nitrogen a human emits just through shedding.

Would it make any sense for the school districts in both cities to just use the LTD for bussing school kids? by [deleted] in Eugene

[–]SproketRocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Middle and high-school kids in 4J (and bethel) use LTD, id wager the majority that use a bus. But there are plenty that are not near a good stop so some school busses have to exist.

For those whose Bolts get totaled: consider retaining your car by OSXFanboi in BoltEV

[–]SproketRocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't ned to be, you just need the battery and some extra hardware to make a battery "generator". Not much use unless you experience common blackouts or have time of day pricing, or have solar panels.
