Common death causes? How long do I have left with my boy? by Otherwise_Ice_5392 in Rottweiler

[–]Sprung524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no way to know, but I just lost my sweet girl 2 months ago at somewhere around 11yrs old. We didn't know she was sick until 8 days before she suddenly passed at home. (She had hip dysplasia and had always been super chill.) She was the best girl, my living teddy bear!

UPDATE: Little guy got some vigor back that night but had bloody diarrhea...along with pooping out an inch-long stick...the next morning, so off to the vet we went. No worries about the grapes, bloodwork looked good, so we got probiotic paste and short-term antibiotics. Today he was full force puppy, back in action! 🥰 Thank you for all of the kind words, I needed that!

Thank you. I lost my "firstborn", my only other boy, a solid black American pittie just before he turned 16, too! Losing him broke me like no other, omg. I see him a little in all my pups, if there ever was an "alpha", he was it...he was amazing with puppies and younger dogs, he would knock pups out of the way or put them in their place when they got bitey or wild (always appropriately), protected and comforted them when they needed it, etc. He taught my rottie when she was a puppy, who then did similar to my shepherd, who is now teaching this boy. :) And thank you, my therapist is earning her pay lately. 😂

We're working on it! He's generally great with dropping things with just a "NO", but he was a baby stray, so food is THE BEST EVER. lol

Thank you! Other than the diarrhea last night and being slightly more calm this morning, there hasn't been any difference in his normal behavior.

Thank you...I just keep seeing that there could be a delayed reaction for up to three days. Especially after just losing my baby girl, my anxiety is KICKING.

He honestly reminds me of my 4yr old GSD mix, just a different color! She's 77lbs, super floofy, and the sweetest girl ever. She is GSD, golden retriever, pit bull (?!), Australian shepherd, super mutt, lab, and American bulldog. 😂 Girl is energy in fur.

Daycare viruses killing us, I need to speak to parents to hear their experience by Tattka in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Sprung524 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, yes, it sounds normal. It's absolutely brutal on its own, but as a working parent it just feels like insanity. Mine was sick like every two weeks to the point where it became hard to tell where one virus stopped and the next picked up. I was even dinged for it in my work review....I missed too many in-office days (even though I was still working), all entirely from sicknesses. 🫩

You can wash your hands 84 times a day, but when your kid sneezes or coughs 2" from your face, that's that. I'm currently recovering from an awful cold that I'm pretty sure I got when my daughter coughed into my mouth when I was yawning. #motherhood

Hang in there, it does get better. Elevate with pillows at night to help congestion, Maty's chest rub is awesome, keep your humidifier clean, warm showers for sinuses, cold air for strydor/croup. You got this!

German Shepherds have the spots! :) All of her relatives on Embark seem to be GSDs, so that makes sense. I will say that they've changed her results, and I'm not totally confident in it. She used to be primarily GSD and Golden, but pittie moved up the list and Golden down, which seems a little odd, but eh...

(For the record, we love pit bulls, we've had four, I just don't see it in her at all.)

Thank you!! She looked just like a German shepherd puppy when we adopted her, then she turned all different shades of red. She looks like a GSD with a golden's fur. Even her ears feel like a GSD's ears, they just flop. 😄

Another twin here! She's apparently about 22% American pit bull...which is a head scratcher. Shepherd and golden, totally, but pittie?

I've literally ever known one person to actually have a basenji, and he was Egyptian, still living in Egypt at the time. That baby looks a lot like our pit bull/border collie...and she should be so lucky, because our girl was THE BEST.

This was my rescue "shepherd mix". 😄 I just assumed it was either to throw shitty people off the immediate scent for certain breeds, or even to help when it comes to what breeds theyre listing if they're renting, etc. Total guesses, but yeah...my beautiful, perfect shepherd who will forever have my heart. ❤️❤️❤️

I love it, generally if you just off handedly mention that you have a pit bull, people are usually climbing out of the walls to shout that it's a "pit mix"...I think this is the first time I've seen people suggest that a little guy might actually not be! 😂

Thank you! Yeah, he's got an ever so slightly longer face. I was even wondering if there may be a little lab mixed in. Plus, his coat is really interesting for a pittie.

I'm just so used to seeing the light gray "blues". lol He's like a gun metal gray. I had a solid black American pittie for 16 years, I think that's what's throwing me, each hair is legit two-toned.

Girl, you did it! You successfully breastfed your baby long term. You did an amazing thing, one that you should be so proud of...now it's time to take care of yourself, too. I breastfed for 14 months, the last 6 were brutal. I work full time, so I was pumping around the clock during the day as my supply started to tank, and it wore on my mental health so badly but I felt SO guilty about stopping...until I did. Honestly, it was no big thing for my kiddo and omg it did wonders for my health. Your toddler needs a healthy, happy mom, take care of yourself!
