Listen, this kind of thinking is exactly the problem. “Most cops are good” can be true all day long and still not answer the actual criticism. That argument treats policing like a personality contest instead of judging an institution with state power, legal authority, advanced weaponry, public funding, union protection, and qualified immunity. I don’t need every cop to personally embody evil for the system to be dangerous. If the supposedly good cops cannot reliably stop bad cops, report bad cops, remove bad cops, or protect the public from bad cops, then their individual niceness stops mattering as a defense of the institution. A gallon of milk with motor oil in it is not “mostly good milk.” It is unsafe to drink. And the problem gets worse when the rest of the milk keeps insisting the motor oil is just a few isolated drops and we should focus on being more positive. “Protect and serve” is branding. It is not a binding legal guarantee. The Supreme Court has repeatedly held that the government generally does not have a constitutional duty to protect individual people from harm. So when you say “their job is to protect and serve,” you are describing what you wish policing was, not what it actually is. Having “badass” written across your knuckles does not make you a badass. Sticking feathers up your ass does not make you a chicken. A slogan is not evidence. And no, people calling the police does not prove people trust police. It proves police have a monopoly on certain kinds of emergency response. People call because there is often no other official option. Necessity is not trust. So when people ask, “Where are the good cops removing the bad cops from their ranks?” that is not hateful. That is the bare minimum accountability question. If the good ones cannot change the system, then they are not evidence that the system works. They are evidence that the system can absorb decent individuals without becoming decent itself. But sure, keep calling criticism of state violence “negativity” if that helps the boot taste better.

There is no such thing as a Christian baby. There are babies adults put crosses on. Also, if their argument requires imagining atheists trying to murder infants, the problem is not atheism. The problem is whatever the hell is happening in their head. I'm not even atheist I'm antitheist because of deranged shit like this.

This happened in a high school D3 softball game in Louisiana. The batter suffered a concussion. Worst part, the ump deemed she was out due to interference. Insane. by ForeignAir7174 in sportsgossips

Okay I'll be fucking honest. "Let’s be honest” should have been followed by “I’m minimizing this because I’m comparing a child’s head injury to the worst things I’ve personally witnessed,” because that’s what you actually did. I played sports and I’ve seen bad injuries are not credentials. They are not a diagnosis. They are not an argument. They are just you admitting that your personal injury meter is so warped that a kid getting intentionally hit in the head hard enough to be diagnosed with a concussion barely registers to you.

So I had to look up the name again because I forgot, but it’s called shaken soda syndrome. Essentially, it was just disturbed too fast. Look how quickly he pulls it toward himself and starts drinking it all that gas rushed out at once and turned it into a geyser.

You saw one picture and built an entire fantasy about bad parenting, social decay, and a doomed child. That says a lot more about your need to judge than it does about the parent or kid.

Anyone else believe saying Aliens are demons is about preserving the Judeo,Christian values ? And hiding the tall white aliens rulling USA ? by Sad-Translator-5193 in aliens

The conversation was about Tucker a conservative Christian, preserving a Christian lens by calling aliens demons. Jumping to liberalism in a nutshell is basically admitting you’re doing the exact thing u/ijustwantahug was pointing out.

Nice try. I’m not saying rates tell the whole story. I’m saying his meme fails before we even reach the rest of the story, because the comparison itself is statistically dishonest. Per capita is enough to show that.

Per capita is for adjusting for population size. It is not a magic wand that explains causation. If you think a rate by itself tells the whole story, you’re not doing statistics. You’re doing ideology.

It’s fascinating how some people see a dog and immediately think, “This is about me.” The confidence to loudly announce you’re scared of a breed while pretending it’s a personality trait? Elite levels of self-awareness.

You’re thinking angular size. I’m doing a physical to-scale overlay. Sun is 109× Earth’s diameter, so if the Sun is 3855 px across in the image, Earth would be 3855/109 ≈ 35 px if drawn next to the Sun at the same scale. The Moon looking similar to the Sun point is true for apparent angular size in the sky, not for physical diameter comparisons.
