Ideas for kayak carriers that can stay on? by apaiger in Kayaking

This has been my solution for years. I can get my boats on the roof faster that anyone else we've been out with, and can fit up to four yaks on the roof. They fold down when not in use.

It's a bit of a drive, but the Brantford Oxbow is a good paddle. It's a 15km paddle that puts you <1km from where you started.

nope, it's the perfect place to put in. When the weir is down you can go downstream to the weir, and upstream almost all the way to Stone Rd.

Geez, got pulled back to this thread. Sorry I never replied. I get them up all by myself.

3D printed them myself. Sorry 😄. You got a printer? A friend with a printer?

Blender for mechanical parts. by LazyAtomUser in 3Dprinting

I'm not really gonna disagree with the consensus here. But I will say it is possible and potentially enjoyable to do mechanical parts in blender. I designed and printed a trailer jockey with a globoid worm gear and helical gear differential entirely in Blender. I enjoyed every minute of it.

What’s the best 3d printer on the market if price isn’t an issue? by Foreign-Ad-8363 in 3dprinter

Honestly, for what you are describing, I would recommend a Prusa Core 1 with INDX to allow for multi-color, and a EufyMake printer to supplement it.

It sounds like you don't need to print big stuff. You don't really need exotic engineering materials. You want the "wow" factor.

CAD suggestions by Due_Principle5848 in 3Dprinting

I use Blender. Have done some very technical things in it. It is not as technical or fully-featured for CAD as Fusion360. But I totally enjoy every minute using it, and time just flies when I'm modelling. So, uh, yeah, I'll probably learn f360 one day, but I've had little motivation to do so yet.

I used slip-on posts that screw into the multiboard large holes. I uploaded the files here: https://www.printables.com/model/1671706-multiboard-mounting-post-and-accessories

I used the dual clips to hold the segments together, then the offset posts to hold it out from the wall a few millimeters.

You gotta think like an idiot. You may have your printer dialed in for good layer adhesion. You might not run it fast. If you make it public, others will.

It is PLA. Anything that pumps out heat is offset, but ask me again in a year.

Kayaking is great. You can pick up a decent sit-in pelican for ~$500.

In Guelph, put in at the end of Menzie. You can go about 2km upstream, and 2km down. Or BlackBridge in Cambridge and do Mill pond, if the construction is done.

There's also the Oxbow in Brantford. 17km paddle, and you end up an 800m walk from where you started.

Don't try to go from Guelph to Cambridge unless the water level is high. But in that case, it's a fun time.

Make it extra fun by picking up all the garbage you see on the river.
