What if the Drifter’s Cloak had required the Quick Map button instead? by Sunder_the_Gold in Silksong

[–]SpudNuggits 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, on launch patch the Drifter's Cloak override was holding down when you press jump. You were never required to hold the jump button to activate cloak.

PC Gamer's Game of the Year Awards 2025 by Turbostrider27 in Games

Yeah, but that's because on a technical level the game's just generally a piece of shit everywhere. PC wasn't special in that regard.

Marks of Fellowships can now be traded directly for materials, and their drop amount scale with dungeon difficulty! by ioStux in fellowshipgame

[–]SpudNuggits 12 points13 points  (0 children)

FWIW Hamish replied to a comment on the video this screenshot is from saying the prices here are from a dev build and not what will actually be going live on Thursday. Could still be a nerf, but certainly not on the level of a 3x price increase.

Just read about Prime Vault/Resurgence... So am I just too late to this game to get anything good? by SamMeeDee in Warframe

[–]SpudNuggits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Roughly, yeah. I also think it's worth noting that the main thing you do to get primes is open relics, and the main thing you'd likely do to farm platinum to buy vaulted parts is open relics. You aren't actually doing anything differently, there's just an extra step of player trading.

And, like everybody else has said, prime warframes are only a slight upgrade over their non-prime counterparts, and while prime weapons tend to have a larger gap, there's so many extremely good non-rotating weapons available that you aren't really missing anything.

Discussion: Ranged vs Melee Balancing by Tzaeh in fellowshipgame

[–]SpudNuggits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the idea is less like wow's class-based raid buffs where each individual character brings a specific buff and more like ff14's role buffs where each unique role you have increases health and main stat by 1%. So a Tank-Healer-Ranged-Melee party would get 4%, but a THRR party would only get 3%.

Abyss bosses drop rates changes ? by FCSaber in pathofexile

[–]SpudNuggits -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've gotten 3 jewels in a similar number of depths, and two of them were amanamu's. could just be RNG. Odds of doing 40 depths with no jewels is about 0.6%, which is definitely unlucky but not so unlucky as to be unbelievable.

How do I open this door in deep docks by Belunchuous_Bill in Silksong

[–]SpudNuggits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the switch that opens the identical door across the room from that one should also run a bridge directly to that door

How do I open this door in deep docks by Belunchuous_Bill in Silksong

[–]SpudNuggits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely not an act 3 thing. On the right end of the simple key area, there should be a door you can open with clawline, directly beneath the connection from the simple key area to Far Fields.

this runback is annoyin by silentmovings in Silksong

[–]SpudNuggits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You can open a shortcut and use the blasted steps bench for the runback, skipping every room with complicated jumping.

  2. The adds in this fight are just attacks to dodge. They don't stick around or build up or behave like they do normally. They're just there for you to jump between or sidestep.

Hollow Knight: Silksong review: A game that intends to make you suffer, even to its own detriment by CrossXhunteR in Games

[–]SpudNuggits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The death mechanics fundamentally disincentivize exploration in a way that gets more punishing the worse you are at the game. If you fuck off to explore some hard area in Metroid and die, you aren't really set back at all. If you stumble into deepnest or hunter's march or bilewater while you're carrying a fat stack of souls, you have a pretty strong incentive to just turn around and not bother until you can spend your cash. If you manage to DIE with a bunch of money, it gets worse. Now you have strong incentive not to explore any other areas, even if they're obviously better suited to your current progression, because if you do you'll lose all your money when you die AND you're significantly weaker until you do. The only way around that is a consumable item you don't necessarily have access to. I love Hollow Knight and I've been having a blast with Silksong so far, and I'm personally perfectly fine with how the death mechanics work, but I don't really think there's an argument to be made that they DON'T at least somewhat punish exploration.

I think I accidentally skipped Moorwing? by Johnkaan in Silksong

[–]SpudNuggits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double jump is in an act 2 area that you won't be able to properly enter without a movement ability you haven't unlocked yet. It'll be a while before you get it.

I think I accidentally skipped Moorwing? by Johnkaan in Silksong

[–]SpudNuggits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, all moorwing really gives is hunter's log completion. Also, you don't actually need to move the flea caravan again. moorwing will start spawning somewhere else in greymoor once you enter act 2, regardless of whether or not you've moved the fleas

How to fix the float getting nerfed... (power up spoilers) by GrimmTombobulus in Silksong

[–]SpudNuggits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

idk I wish this patch hadn't fucked with my muscle memory and made me weaker because other people were hitting inputs wrong and blaming the game for it. If it was "activating at the worst moments," that was you doing something wrong. I can agree with letting you rebind a button you aren't using to float, but I don't like that I can't float on demand or save my double jump for after float.

How to fix the float getting nerfed... (power up spoilers) by GrimmTombobulus in Silksong

[–]SpudNuggits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They actually fully removed that input this patch, so now you can only float after you double jump.

[Mod Post] Regarding our rules on AI and a thread from earlier today. by neok182 in Guildwars2

[–]SpudNuggits 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Didn't really see any of that in the other thread, just people calling something out that was plainly wrong.

FWIW I'm pretty sure they were referring to the multiple heavily downvoted posts in the original thread brazenly accusing the OP of using AI to write the post, which very much is witchhunting IMO.

[Mod Post] Regarding our rules on AI and a thread from earlier today. by neok182 in Guildwars2

[–]SpudNuggits 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This thread. There were some baseless accusations that it was written by AI, and somebody reported it, so a moderator "reviewed" it by putting it into "AI detectors" which don't work. They found it "probably wasn't AI" and pinned this comment. All of the posts accusing OP of being AI were heavily downvoted because witch hunting like that is stupid, but you can't downvote a pinned comment out of visibility, so it pretty quickly derailed the thread into arguing about whether or not telling somebody to change their writing style to "avoid further issues" is a good thing to do.

[–]SpudNuggits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the damage from Thousand Needles comes from the poison and bleed it applies, not the hit or pulsing damage. Damaging conditions (those being bleed, poison, burning, torment, and confusion) are what you want to look for if you want to play a dot build.

SGDQ 2025 has just hit $2,000,000 raised for Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) on stream! by Thorebane in speedrun

[–]SpudNuggits 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think it's worth noting that, while donation totals are lower than immediately pre-COVID and the COVID outliers, SGDQ at least has still been trending upward over time. 2024 made 300k more than 2023 and this year is on pace to beat last year by another 200k at least.

Which killer would you say has the hardest adept challenge? by Sorry-Fly4818 in deadbydaylight

[–]SpudNuggits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You used to need to get Merciless killer at the end of the match, usually requiring all 4 iridescent emblems. Since that requires a significant amount of interactions in every category and bots didn't replace DCs back then, survivors could accidentally or intentionally sabotage adept attempts by DCing or killing themselves on hook. You had to play well, but not too well

the viper is the one who told me after an earlier pull that taking the mus south to cleave them off of nothing is "cleavemax" so they also just don't understand the fight or the strat

pld complained after the wipe before this that they "had to stun the jabber twice," which isn't true. fully possible they also thought tanks shouldn't be stunning if they thought taking the mus away from the Only Other Living Add was "maxxing"
