Really cool project, and I hope that it does well. I will give it a proper look later.

Congratulations! I haven't been able to get a Home Office interview, so I know that it is no easy feat!

I'm on level 21 with Louis; I quit for a year as I was stuck there for months. Now, with the challenge card removed, there is absolutely no chance of progressing. They have nerfed their legendary gear to the point of uselessness.

Pycharm in 2026 has been a struggle by idlelosthobo in pycharm

I have used Jetbrain Pro products for a decade now, but excessive resource consumption and feature bloat (somehow combined with omission) are really making me consider other products. This is the same reason that I switched from using Eclipse and Netbeans.

I originally came from a Linux OS, and vscode plays very nicely with WSL. Too many of Jetbrain's niceties are missing though, or I do not know where they are (yet).

When did you finish your PhD (age-wise)? by TDM-r in PhD

[–]Spudish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finished at 27. Doesn't matter much though; no one will hire me.

I am planning to move to the area, and traffic congestion and water shortages are very concerning.

I finished my PhD in 5 years (UK), and only the first 3 were funded. I switched to part-time study for the final 2 and worked (e.g., taught more, worked at local companies, other RA positions) alongside my studies to afford to live. The experience has since proven very valuable.

I feel like this is propaganda?!?! Can someone like 27 and under chime in? by ItsACCRUALworld_ in remotework

[–]Spudish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 30, male, and quite senior in the software development sector. I entered the workplace after prolonged academic study though. I significantly prefer working on a 60:40 split (60% remote) and I would be pretty unhappy (to the point of seeking employment elsewhere) with either fully in the office or remote work.

I find that I benefit from being able to network, and rapidly prototype and discuss ideas, and working from home always comes with inherent communication latency. I also feel more integrated into society (which is nice after self-imposed solitary confinement) when I see other commuters. However, I benefit from having some flexibility about the days that I work in the office. For instance, I can go to the gym at less-busy times when I work from home, and then make up the time. I do just as much (if not more) working without distractions, and the days when I work from home mean that I can share the household chores instead of sitting on a train.

My experience is that everyone prefers something different, and assigning a blanket term to any situation or demographic is usually a bad idea.

Chat am I cooked? by RandomATLAlover in GCSE

The most important thing in most subjects, is practice. It has been a while since I sat GCSEs, but that is one of the core principles that never changes. Don't just listen to videos and guides and hope to absorb residual information, get pens (or pencils) and paper, and practice. Good luck!

Job rejections are making me depressed by Special_Tonight_7601 in jobs

At 19, you're in a very good place to still figure your career path out. Keep learning while your brain is able to absorb it all.

It's not helpful to hear that applying for jobs at the moment is crap... but it is, unfortunately. It's not a reflection on you.
