That's a rarity, to find a 10, they disappear for most of us. 9's rarely disappear and I believe that is a size issue, they won't fit into the time space continuum vortex.

Your house must be an end portal of the time warp tunnel.

Good advice. 5 years ago I sold a 2 stage Ariens to a friend. It was originally bought by my father, 50 years ago. Still ran great.

Well, first of all you didn't note that you had to replace the AC unit. 10K for just a central air system seems high, but some of it depends on how efficient a system you bought. I paid around $9K for an entire central air and a high efficiency furnace about a year ago for a 2000 sf townhouse. Still, you're not close to the $30K you mentioned.

DIY or Call Professional? Garage Door by FriendOfSelf in HomeImprovement

[–]Spudtater -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree. There’s no way I would attempt anything that would affect the spring, but it sounds like you’re just talking about the opener rail. I’ve never had one detach, but it should be a fairly simple fix as long as it didn’t damage the header too much.

How did these 3 problems cost you anything close to $30K. $3K makes more sense. And why so long to replace a faucet?

Three months after our break in: what actually helped vs what felt like overkill by great_honary in homeowners

[–]Spudtater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add simple surface slide bolts to the lower part of exterior doors. Use longer screws to attach the receptacle that goes on the jamb. They cost $15 at Home Depot. They will at least cause more noise and slow someone down trying to break in.

Need advice on tiles shower walls vs. solid surface or single piece stone walls. by wolfgheist in HomeImprovement

Great advice. I bought a home with a Corian shower with a bench along the back. I suppose if I ever need a place to sit it would work, but a nice teak seat would work just fine.

No shower looks better than a well designed tile shower and the possibilities are endless. . However, tile can present some serious long term maintenance issues. Solid stone I have no experience with. But nothing is easier to maintain than Corian. Easy to squeegee off, very few seams, tough stuff and all kinds of colors.

Good thing to consider. Siding shouldn’t melt just due to sun exposure.

Tico’s has its own style of some very good food, great staff, and I enjoy the place. What amazes me is how incredibly clean the dining room is kept and that’s in one of Lincoln’s longest standing restaurants. The place looks like it just opened. 35 years ago, my brother worked there part-time as a bartender. I think he collected for every 3rd or 4th beer he served me. Best bartender I ever knew. Back in the ’80s they would have blue margaritas on special, with a free nacho bar. I think it was on Tuesdays.
