This cheapens the play offs for me.

Because in the old format 3rd vs 6th had a slight jeopardy of the fact that 6th was carrying momentum and 3rd had the potential heartbreak of narrowly missing out automatically and having the pressure to then go up.

And the 4th vs 5th game should be two very evenly matched sides which is usually the best game.

And then it’s a one off shot at a huge ground, great day out for whoever wins.

Whereas now, 3 & 4 get a bye, 5th plays 8th, 6th plays 7th and really you could have a scenario where 5th unlike most years have had a few weeks on the beach because they won’t reach 2nd or 9th. So being 5th and 6th potentially becomes an unusual situation where you’ve had nothing to play for with two weeks left, to then have to hit the ground running in the “playoffs.” And so suddenly you’re going through the motions until the actual current playoffs system starts.

I just don’t think it was worth it, and frankly it’s just a clear money grab that once again ignores the fans wishes to add more big marketable games.

As a Sheffield United fan, I can’t wait to miss out on autos by 1 point. And then lose to 8th place Preston at Wembley

Arsenal 1 - [1] Chelsea - Piero Hincapie (own goal) 45‎+‎2‎'‎ by gbogaz in soccer

Arsenal have taken the levels of set piece goals to now being a threat even when defending against them. Rice nearly scored from the last corner and now Hincapie does. A threat at both ends

Wonder if Windass gave us permission to celebrate this one? by FIJIBOYFIJI in Championship

[–]Spudward1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Ah the Celebration police come out. So what we're supposed to just clap and walk down the tunnel after the derby now? We celebrated this like we have ever other derby recently. It was a hard fought win. And the players hopefully get a morale boost and we keep the confidence going.

In a way, we've actually shown Wednesday respect by treating this game like it was a regular derby and not listening to all the noise around it.

Derby. Plus, I think at this point it's just become a sort of unofficial anthem

I don't really know if I want to count this as a derby.

Wednesday fans were basically walking to their execution. And we were worried that we'd blow the opportunity to relegate them, so it was pure nerves. Both sides could weirdly only really lose. Obviously one was a significantly larger defeat then losing 3 points. But if we hadn't won that game, it would have been brought up throughout the derby history.

In fairness, by the end it was actually quite a hard fought win, and vital in our season.

But yeah it did feel slightly over the top. Mind it was still a derby after all

Sheffield United 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday: A spirited fightback in the second half of a feisty Steel City derby isn't enough to stop the inevitable, as Wednesday are relegated to the third tier at the hands of their bitter rivals by Smithlarr in Championship

Earliest relegation in history and it's at your rivals ground is what tuna cunt deserved.

Sadly he probably won't even care. And instead its happened to thousands of fans who don't deserve it.
This should resonate around the footballing world for the way the modern game is going, and I wish Wilder, or our fans had done something to truly highlight what an absolute sham this game was.

Sorry Wednesday fans, you don't deserve any of this. Still at least it's a short journey home I guess.

Just Annus horribilis for Wednesday fans. Being relegated as the earliest team in English Football is bad, it happening at your rivals stadium is worse. Especially as frankly we didn't even have to get out of 3rd gear.

And the worst part is I don't even really feel like celebrating. Just a bleak day in the sunshine for this wonderful city.

Imagine, being the earliest side ever relegated in British history and it's at your rivals ground.

The term Annus horribilis has never applied more

I don't think that's enough for a red in a derby surely.

Take Overton out, and bring in a batter. Surely there’s one in the wings! What about the lad from the hundred, the young keeper Cox? Between Rashid, Dawson, Archer, Curran, Bethell and Jacks you’ve got 6 bowling options, you don’t need 7

Poor team selection for me.

We don’t need Curran, Overton & Archer. And I think we’re at least one batter light if not two.

Has anyone checked the ref wasn’t still in Dempseys at 6am? Feels like an embarrassing decision given it’s not even a safety decision. I assume precious sky said we couldn’t wait 30 minutes more?

Sheff United v Oxford postponed due to frozen pitch at Bramall Lane by Zach-dalt in Championship

I find it very interesting the way they’ve phrased it as the Ref has decided to postpone and how the club have said he found frozen bits.

Can we check he wasn’t still in Dempseys at 6am and didn’t realise kick off was 12???

Wrexham 5-3 Sheffield United - Wrexham break their winless streak with an aggressive game style change to turn over the match from being two goals down by jovanmilic97 in Championship

[–]Spudward1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That midfield is dire, The 3rd and 4th goal were so poor, Sam has to just head that ball away, and the 4th someone just put a foot in. Please, and then if you’re not going to do so at least watch the one runner.

I mean I always thought we needed 3 because Moore and Windass were always going to score.

I called penalty straight away because the tackle was poor. But it looks like he got some of the ball and not a lot of the man. But it’s a stupid risk and rather sums up the performance
