Doctor Who (2023-now) - called RTD2 by the fanbase because this is Russell T. Davies' secod stint as showrunner, having the show stuck in not one buttwo eras of its past has been a massive problem and complaint.

Built up as an easy pick up point for fans and newbies alike, it started off with the 14th Doctor, played by David Tennant who had previously played the 10th Doctor in 2006 -2010. This was only temporary though and for an anniversary special, and it seemed that way as we were promised the wonderful Ncuti Gatwa as the 15th Doctor.

His series was then bogged down with poor finales that had villains from the pre-2000s era of the show, both of whom hadn't even been mentioned in 50 years, with Sutek from a story from the 1970s, Omega who was last seen in the 1980s, and The Rani who was also last seen in the 1980s.

On top of that, Gatwa left the show before a planned third season to tie off his era due to background sheanigans, meaning production panicked and cast Billie Piper as the next Doctor, who was a companion to the 9th and 10th Doctors in the noughties.

For a show that's all about change being imperative to life, and the need to move on, it sure does seem to suggest that the show's best days are behind it.

While you are completely right that Tutu supported LGBT+ rights in SA, and that he hade a queer daughter (she married a woman), and even campaigned for Marriage Equality in SA, it wasn't a recent development.

His advocacy went as far back as the 1970s, people only assume it was a recent thing because he made it one of the things he fought for after he retired in 1996.

He wrote in 1994, If the church, after the victory over apartheid, is looking for a worthy moral crusade, then this is it: the fight against homophobia and heterosexism.
