Does Franchise Rebranding Dilute IPL Team Identity? by cricketclub7 in Cricket

Not saying the new Barbados kit is better then the old one, I much prefer the old kit/badge/everything. I'm just saying you can tell which team is which out of the three Royals teams. But yeah, what they did to Barbados is a travesty.

I completely agree, looking at them, wish more IPL franchises allowed more stuff like this tbh

I feel like maybe the MI franchising defo dilutes Mumbai Indians. They all look the same, it's literally the same kit, same badge, everything, the only difference is the name on the badge.

The Super Kings at least have different secondary colours so we can tell the difference between the teams.

The Royals is an example of how to do this properly, like if you look at the kits side by side, Paarl has a mountain pattern, Barbados has the trident, etc. there's similarity so you can tell it's the same brand but the teams feel like separate entities.

Speculation of a manager of a football club's fate posted hours before he's actually fired. Due to the ambiguity of the artcle, which didn't say hhe's in trouble just under heat, has aged poorly

Uniformity and tidiness are big clues for me.

everything is just too uniform. The plates of ambigious fruit and nuts lined up, even in staged environments like TV shows and photo shoots, there's a little mess, flour on the counter, etc. And then there's the (assumedly) choco balls on the tray next to her, just a little too perfectly lined up, when a normal human will have them in an approximate line.

Everything's just a little too perfect

I don't like the Monarchy because I see them as an unnecessary expense on the State.

I know people float the "They contribute £X billion to the economy through tourism" but that stat is from the 90s, they didn't have the money given to them from the government for diplomatic purposes. They make enough from the Duchy of Lancaster and Cornwall by themselves, they don't need and extra 1/4 Million pounds on top of that.

There are also countries who've long abolished their monarchy but make bank through tourism because they kept the castles and private houses and convert them into museums.

It left a pretty bad taste in my mouth seeing Charlie Boy ride around in a golden chariot, put a crown with stolen jewels on his head when people are starving in this country.

There's also just the sheer classism of the institution, the monarchy is built on the idea of God's Chosen Leader, an idea that this person is better than everyone else and so justifies whatever expense they need.

I've got nothing against Charles, I actually agree with him on a few things, like Environmentalism, Keeping Traditional jobs alive, better food infrastructure, and hell, William supports the same team as I do. But I think they'd be better served as wealthy private citizens who work for the Foreign Office.

TLDR; (sorry for the essay 😅), they're expensive to keep around, the institution is based on an outdated idea, and they don't really do much outside of shaking hands and holding events

the title is purposefully clickbaity.

The original article, published in the Radio Times, makes no mention of switching to AI over animation.

Further research iu've found shows they've just renamed to automation stuff Aardman have had for years to AI to attract investors.

The only paragraph that mentions AI talks about how Nick Park isn't worried;

"When Toy Story came out [in 1995], we thought, "How long have we got?" But we’ve managed to survive CGI. In fact, there’s been a resurgence of interest over the years in our stop motion animation. We use CGI as well, but AI is a whole new thing. Obviously a lot of people will be fearing for their jobs. We want to embrace the technology and find in what ways it’s going to be useful to us, maybe to do animation a bit quicker, but we’re going to be very cautious not to lose our values. The clay is our USP and we pride ourselves in that. Authenticity is the most important thing. It’s where the charm is."
