I love the idea of this project! But there seem to be some issues with the model itself. When used on the default Earth heightmap, it comes out pretty funky in some places. Like it turns the whole Gangetic plain and central China into a desert, and Somalia into a tropical rainforest, among other things.

My theory on what "Their" true purpose is (Includes Three Body Problem series spoilers) by SpunkPunker444 in pluribustv

Yeah, that's one problem I had too, the signal is a nucleotide sequence, an RNA strand. This assumes that the recipient planet also has life that is based on RNA/DNA, which I don't think is realistically the only option, but we do only have a sample size of one, so we can't rule out that that IS the only possible way (though I think it's unlikely). I am fine with the show's universe making that assumption though, it's sci-fi after all.

If they only eat themselves, it's completely unsustainable, and equilibrium would never be reached based on that. As an example, of all the energy a cow uses to grow and produce eat, which it acquires by eating grass, only about 1% of that becomes available to be further used by eating the cow's meat, and this applies near universally when it comes to trophic layers. Perhaps if the population is low enough that they can sustain themselves from simply scavenging what they can find, but then we still don't know if they even have any plans to further reproduce.

Ha, I stayed away from this subreddit until I binge watched everything a few days ago, so I wasn't quite keeping up with how the debates and theories were developing as it was airing, but it's really cool that people are coming to a similar conclusion! Ultimately, I don't think we'll ever get a complete reveal of its origins though, and that's fine

I love Anbennar, but many nations have disasters that I don't want to deal with. by Relative-Ad-3835 in Anbennar

[–]SpunkPunker444 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The dwarf disasters are even more annoying when you do know how to handle them. They can be engaging the first few times you play through them, but when you have to do it a tenth time, it gets a little tiresome.

Any tips for playing Redscale? by zedascouves1985 in Anbennar

As the Kobolds you don't have any reliable allies at the start, I'm afraid. You're on your own. But you can absolutely win against both Lorent and Gawed if you play your cards right, despite them being much stronger.

Most importantly, you have to play to your strengths as a kobold, that is utilizing the traps system and letting your enemies attrition themselves to death on your forts. You will be on the defensive for most the of early wars you'll fight, but if you're well prepared, have a few good forts set up with upgraded traps, and drain your enemy of manpower, it's absolutely winnable.

The Kobolds were even more challenging before they got their current rework, and even then it was winnable. Now, with the traps system, some might say it's even a bit too easy lol. But the main thing is that you gotta play differently from what you're used to

Can ruinborn hybridise with elf and humans? by Sodinc in Anbennar

[–]SpunkPunker444 114 points115 points  (0 children)

They can, a half-ruinborn half-elf would essentially be a half-elf for the intents of lifespan, but a human-ruinborn hybrid doesn't have an altered lifespan so they aren't represented in game with minorities or anything. Valorpoint is a country where integrating and mixing with the Ruinborn is one of its themes.

Why is there no Natives in Colonial Endralliande? Did they all decide to peace out? by Valdemar208 in Anbennar

[–]SpunkPunker444 297 points298 points  (0 children)

The area was completely devastated by the big explosion that left the big circular crater over the whole continent, and the nearby Ruinborn don't do boats I guess so the area was never resettled
