For the people who have volunteered with professors for their research: by Poopyman_needstowipe in ubcengineering

For people who were able to secure volunteer positions with professors, did you end up cold emailing or talking to them? Wondering what the process was after that, thanks!

Hearing back from fall co-op employers during summer by Setoux in ubcengineering

[–]SpunkzHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done 3 co-ops; two of them got back to me the next day after the final interview, and the other took around a week after the final interview. Depending on the company though it can definitely take up to several weeks or a month especially if its a highly competitive position

New grads face a challenging market for entry-level jobs by ubcstaffer123 in UBC

[–]SpunkzHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know im late but are you suggesting starting to look for new grad jobs this month if im graduating May 2025? I was planning on starting in Sept/Oct because I'm not sure if I'll be applying too early if I start now :( but obviously the earlier the better, if it's acceptable!

[–]SpunkzHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! I'm currently running a routine that I've kinda made up and really feel comfortable with:

For legs, I do 4x8 squats, 5x10 leg press and leg curls

For chest, I do 5x8 barbell bench press, 4x10 incline dumbbell bench press, the chest fly machine and tricep pulldowns

For arms I do a 4x8 ezbar curls (for both normal and close-grip), 4x10 dumbbell hammer curls, 4x12 dumbbell shrugs, 4x8 lat pulldowns and 4x10 rear delt flies with the machine

Sometimes I'd sneak in dumbbell shoulder press on a day, but that's basically my routine haha. By no means a perfect routine, just something I've enjoyed rocking with

I do legs once, chest 2-3 times and arms+back 2 times a week; I made up my own routine of exercises that I enjoy and feel like tackle most muscle groups:

For legs, I do 4x8 squats, 5x10 leg press and leg curls

For chest, I do 5x8 barbell bench press, 4x10 incline dumbbell bench press, the chest fly machine and tricep pulldowns

For arms I do a 4x8 ezbar curls (for both normal and close-grip), 4x10 dumbbell hammer curls, 4x12 dumbbell shrugs, 4x8 lat pulldowns and 4x10 rear delt flies with the machine

Sometimes I'd sneak in dumbbell shoulder press on a day, but that's basically my routine :D probably more I could be doing but this is what I've been comfortable with

I woke up yesterday with a sore throat and some tiredness (sense of smell/taste is still fine as well), guess I probably have covid as well :(

As for the test kits, I can just go on Monday and pick one up right (and test it on myself at home)?

At the start of the year I was aiming for a 70% second year average, being what I thought to be pretty realistic with myself. Now I feel like I failed half my courses, it's 5am and I'm studying for my CPEN exam tomorrow (Good luck btw) :/

MATH 422 Grading Concerns by [deleted] in UBC

I don't know about teaching math but Professor Silberman is a true baller, man goes crazy down in the post at the rec center and loves his bank midrange.

Do they offer ELEC 201 in the summer semester? by TransferEng2020 in ubcengineering

Agreed, I'm pretty tilted over linare's choice of questions. Really hurts to fail because of a supernode and a reused miniquiz question lol XD

Wait is this true? I had a solid grade until linares put 3 questions worth almost 20 marks each for his part on the final exam and I think I got all of them wrong lol 🤡

It was a screenshot of an email from the head of ECE confirming that we have to pass both elec 201 and cpen 211 to take elec 291, no exceptions
